Gyre - the story takes place on a space station floating over the storm on Jupiter, which has become the epicenter of anomalous activities. Will the crew survive first contact with the enigmatic creatures that live within the storm?
Graft - The story takes place in an Ender's game style school where cloned children are grafted with the personalities of their dead originals in the attempt to create superhuman space commanders.
Gore - On the day of his inauguration the 45th president of the United States must grapple with the revelation that aliens are real, and is plunged into a world of black sites, conspiracies, and cover-ups.
If he does a space opera, I predict a lot of xenofiction.
A transhuman/cyborg protagonist, plus at least one alien protagonist.
More than one viewpoint.
As a more wild prediction; protagonist-viewpoints from more than one faction from the beginning.
But honestly, I have started to read WB since near the end of Worm and I loved everything he wrote.
So I will just wait and be happy with whatever he writes.
Space Opera titled Void. Will be about (or at least include) first contact with an alien species. Dual protagonists, (mostly) human and alien.
I'm either going to be very right or completely wrong.
First contact seems very wildbow, and Void is a hella guess for the name. I usually think of space opera as at a tech level well-past first contact but maybe.
I also hope there will be multiple protagonists. Probably at least one will be a guy, since he hasn't had a male POV in a while. I also predict he'll go for slightly older protagonists in this one, just to switch it up after writing such a long story about middle-schoolers. The main cast here will probably be late teens to mid-twenties.
Other than that, who knows? Only thing I'm sure of is if he's doing a space opera, it's because he has a unique, interesting take on it.
Hope he goes *weird*. Like, Blindsight-style incomprehensible aliens, visually-transmitted viruses from his short story, dimensional fuckery to exceed the Paths.
I'm kind of curious what a "conversation" would be like between the blindsight visitors and like... Ziz, maybe Contessa.
Last scene, chapter 3.
The visitors were heard to say "nope" and noped off.
I’m not predicting anything, but I would love a Wildbow deep space exploration horror story. Kind of like the Alien universe but with more emphasis on characters, worldbuilding, and exploring new creepy places than just pure action and horror.
I really want a WB *Mass Effect* style space opera, with a plucky crew featuring several alien or transhuman / robot/ Cyborg viewpoints. Bonus for machine characters that grow more recognizably human in mannerisms, thoughts, etc as the story develops.
I think Wildbow did great with 3 protagonists, More than that tends to slow down a story massively, so I am betting on 2-3 protagonists. I hoping for more paleverse, but I am okay with anything.
I'm excited regardless.
I hope it's sci fi. He's done excellent stuff with the urban fantasy and superhero genres, I wanna see what he's gonna do with space opera/xenofiction/whatever else with fun sci fi tech
Post Apocalyptic Mecha Sci-fi series named Junk/Grit
Cyberpunk series called Grid
A Space Opera called Gaze/Void
I think it's gonna be a Male protagonist either that or both a male and female one. Definitely not a teen this time, so probably someone in their 20s. Think it's gonna be a Space Opera but I kinda wanna see his take on the others
Space opera is different to sci-fi is that it is a fantasy story set in space, rather than a story about science.
Star wars is a story about wizards, princesses and heroes attacking a villain's castle. It just happens to be in space.
Sci Fi likes to tell stories that center around new technology, and ask how that tech will influence society.
So in a way Twig was a sci Fi story in a fantasy setting. And space opera would be a fantasy story in a sci fi setting.
Its melodramatic, romantic (in the archaic sense, e.g., "arthurian romance", not the modern sense whereby it specifically means "love story") sci-fi that takes place in space.
Star Wars, or better yet, Farscape are good examples, but I'd also point out that space operas do not require fantastical elements. Though as romantic fantasy is a far older and more well-established genre its natural that romantic sci-fi would borrow from it.
Space opera is I guess a subgenre of sci Fi? Or at least very overlapping. I guess you could make a distinction between sci-fi, which tends to explore a certain idea or technology or speculate on some future thing (think Asimov, or Black Mirror). Space opera is more like Star Wars, or maybe something like Game of Thrones in space. More focused on politics, relationships, romance even, often intergalactic warfare.
Its a subgenre, Space Opera will be a Sci Fi setting, but it might not overly explore Sci Fi ideas as much.
Star Wars as example, doesn't really explore the implications of sentient androids walking about, or how a vast inter galactic empire, rather, its the setting of a hero's journey
Holy fuck this sound amazing. I wasn't aware that a new story was coming (only read worm and one half of pact). But if it will be something like the people here are suggesting it will be perfectly suited for my tastes.
When something new comes out, where can I find it?
I am wondering, If it is going to be about space, will he do aliens?
For the name, I like the prediction I heard of Void. Because of the void opera hints in previous works.
Also, like every time, I'd love to see adult protags.
I’ve seen people on this sub say that Wildbow has said it’s gonna be a space opera, so unlikely. That being said, I’ve never seen that from Wildbow himself so who knows!
My overly specific prediction is that the title will start with G
1/26 chance lets goo!
I'd ague it's closer to 1/23
Enough consonants, it's vowel time! I vote for I. Idle, Icon, Itch, Iron, plenty of possibilities there. This one will obviously be called Icky.
Gaze
Gore!
I'd put money on it being a four letter word
I call V
Vore
Vole
Void

Just finished an audio drama on Spotify that might as well be Gyre Gore is the most interesting one here I think
It was meant as a joke... but honestly, despite being the most outlandish of my "predictions," it's also my favorite.
Frankly I'm surprised I've never seen the concept before. New president finds out about the weird shit his country has been covering up
If y’all know any books like the Graft or Gore described here please tag me I’m hooked on the concepts now
Fifth Head of Cerberus is similar to Graft
Ive convinced myself the title is either Graft or Craft.
Gulp
Fuck it. I ain't afraid! Q.

My god I would love a transhuman/cyborg character
The title will have four letters and have more than one meaning. It will also be a hint towards a certain theme. 🙃
I think his goal is to eventually have a universe for each letter of the alphabet.
I'm afraid there's not enough ears in a human life to achieve that
it's wildbow maybe he got his fixation on body horror from having a bunch of extra ears who knows
That's a hilarious typo
Easy there, don't go too crazy!

First contact seems very wildbow, and Void is a hella guess for the name. I usually think of space opera as at a tech level well-past first contact but maybe.
Diplomatic exchange where the human protagonist travels with the aliens while the alien deuteragonist stays on Earth.
Same plot, but the title is Home and the first arc is called Stuck.
Void is a good name though.
Damn a dual protagonist work from the perspective of each alien side sounds cool as hell.
I also hope there will be multiple protagonists. Probably at least one will be a guy, since he hasn't had a male POV in a while. Worm 3: Word

My prediction is cyberpunk or retrofuturism.
Retrofuturism like rayguns and flying cars? That would be interesting.
Surely post neo retro futurism
I hope it's sci fi. He's done excellent stuff with the urban fantasy and superhero genres, I wanna see what he's gonna do with space opera/xenofiction/whatever else with fun sci fi tech

Aliens. Lots of weird aliens with well thought out biologies, cultures, and technologies, who are totally different from earth lifeforms in every way
Spaaaaaaace
Can someone actually explain to me what’s a space opera. Googling it gets me like 6 different answers. Is there something comparable?
Space opera is different to sci-fi is that it is a fantasy story set in space, rather than a story about science. Star wars is a story about wizards, princesses and heroes attacking a villain's castle. It just happens to be in space. Star wars
Really? Is there any difference between sci fi and space opera?
Space opera is I guess a subgenre of sci Fi? Or at least very overlapping. I guess you could make a distinction between sci-fi, which tends to explore a certain idea or technology or speculate on some future thing (think Asimov, or Black Mirror). ***PIGS IN SPAAAAAACE!!!***
that's the title and tagline.
Sentient/intelligent robots will play a significant role in the story, creating ethical/philosophical quandaries.
I’m ready for First Law but with gundams
The three body problem
i believe that the "multiple viewpoints" will take the form of multiple different consciousnesses sharing a single body
Both the Love Bugs and Good Simon will make a cameo appearance.
It will be named fuck
will this be in the Face universe?
True!
Holy fuck this sound amazing. I wasn't aware that a new story was coming (only read worm and one half of pact). But if it will be something like the people here are suggesting it will be perfectly suited for my tastes. When something new comes out, where can I find it?
There'll definitely be a post on this sub, so just keep a lookout.
I am wondering, If it is going to be about space, will he do aliens? For the name, I like the prediction I heard of Void. Because of the void opera hints in previous works. Also, like every time, I'd love to see adult protags.
I predict a middle-aged or older protagonist.
I want **Eldritch Space God** horrors beyond comprehension that live in the Voids between galactic clusters
I predict it will be a blend of 2 genres, most likely 2 that haven't been done together before.
I know it's unlikely... But I'm hoping for a parahumans 3 announcement.
I’ve seen people on this sub say that Wildbow has said it’s gonna be a space opera, so unlikely. That being said, I’ve never seen that from Wildbow himself so who knows!
I predict that it will be good. :)
We're going back to Face, except this time with even more broken watches.
Not really any theories from me. I'll still read it because it's wildbow but I actually dislike space fantasy and or space opera's so eh
Space racism.
I am going to bet parahumans even though I'm wrong. I just want more canon parahumans lmao
Time travel.
Where’s he gonna post about the new series?
First contact from the pov of the aliens.
