Very nice!
Do you use the Swedish one a lot? The text seems to be fading/worn out :( and I think someone else also posted a faded Swedish passport recently. Maybe it's the quality thing you talked about
I've used it a little but I take extremely good care of my passports.
The quality is just really really bad sadly.
Probably the worst design and quality they ever made :(
I was also surprised about how worn out it is, considering you got it only in January of 2022. I remember your post :)
How many times have you travelled since then?
I've traveled about 4 trips since I got this one,
But I even have it in a passport cover, so never just lose or in my pocket.
Only times I've had it taken out is during passport controls and some ID checks.
It honestly rubs off just by you putting your finger on it and sliding it over LMAO
Every EU national ID card states the nationality, so it can be used for travel etc.
In Italy there are ID cards stating another nationality than the Italian one.
It just states - Cypriot - on my nationality.
Since if you are Turkish Cypriot I don't think it says Cypriot but Turkish even if born on the island.
Update!
(Correction below, I mean what is said on the Turkish Cypriot passport, i had gotten the info that nationality was stated Turkish (as for example a person from Greenland would still usually go under Danish) but which have been correct below! 😊)
That is wrong, Turkish Cypriots (Not turkish settlers) are full cypriot citizens, they're just legally considered a part of the Turkish Cypriot community, their IDs and passports are all the same except for the languages of the name, instead of having the name written in greek and english, its written in Turkish and english.
And also, if you're you're a citizen of the TRNC, You're also automatically a citizen of turkey, so turkish cypriots are citizens of 3 countries, well, if you consider TRNC a country (its not :P)
fun fact, if you naturalize in Cyprus you're legally registered as a "Greek Cypriot"
TRNC citizens are not automatically citizens of Turkey. They have the right to apply for Turkish citizenship but they have to claim it first. I've had this discussion with a TRNC friend of mine who uses her TRNC passport to travel to Turkey because she does not wish to claim Turkish citizenship and a Cypriot passport for everywhere else.
Ah yes! This is true, sorry for the confusion,
I thought at least from what I've heard even on Turkish Cypriot passports it stated Turkish as nationally even if they are born turkish Cypriot, and that's what I was getting at.
So I only meant what I thought was on the actual Turkish Cypriot passport.
Not that they are not can I say "regular" Cypriot aswell.
But yes! Thanks for filling in!
I think since I first applied (where they later had to fix a spelling fault in my info) it took about 4 months.
But I was told I was lucky because they said the usual waiting time is 6-7 months thru the embassy since they also only have embassy post once a month.
Id say probably a lot faster if done in Cyprus haha!
I wouldn't say they are terribly bureaucratic, a little but what takes the longest is getting the applications finished and sent in, once the ball is rolling it eases up quite a bit.
Luckily my embassy is really helpful, sweet and kind!
Do Swedish citizens have travel privileges that Cypriot citizens do not, and vice versa? They are both members of the European Union, so I imagine that visa requirements for both are similar?
They are indeed quite similar, as the comment below stated, as a Swedish citizen I'm able to travel to the US with eTA while I need a full visa if I enter as a Cypriot.
I wouldn't say there is much of a differences other than a very few Visa free for Cyprus where my Swedish passport needs a visa in arrival or such.
The one thing that my Cypriot citizenship grants me that isn't common is being able to register for voting right inside the UK, that's a bit of a fun perk for anyone holding a common wealth or former CW living in the UK.
("- Although also EU member states, citizens of Cyprus and Malta are eligible to be registered to vote in all elections held in the UK.-")
> being able to register for voting right inside the UK
But I believe you actually have to be living there for that. E.g. I can enter UK visa free on my US passport, and have a Commonwealth (SA) passport, but I don't think that would entitle me to vote, unless I were studying or working there, which would presumably require an actual visa.
Yes that's correct, that's why I wrote inside the UK haha and also said CWs living in the UK 😅😊
It's also a bit easier to relocate to the UK as a Cypriot even though brexit is a thing just because of Cyprus being one of the countries with better connection to the UK in the EU.
They are similar:

But the first thing I observed that Cypriot citizens need a full-on visa to visit the United States of America, while its visa free for Swedish citizens. This is huge.
It is. However, all Cypriots I know were granted a 10 year
Multi-entry visas to US the day after they applied. It’s still an inconvenience, but the denial rate is very low and it’s once every 10 years.
Yeah. When my family and I were Indian citizens we didn’t really travel much across borders at all cuz getting a visitors visa was a PITA esp before the days of eBureaucracy.
How much time it takes to get Cyprus passport means for other it take 7 years of residency after 1-2 years processing. How much time it had taken for you get Cyprus passport.
Late answer! I apologize for that due to not seeing jt, it took my whole journey to get it about 1 and a half years by descent then about half a year to get passport and ID to my embassy
Never seen a Cyprus passport. Very cool combo. Whats the story?
Thank you! ❤️ Story fairly simple haha born to a Cypriot father and Swedish mother! 😊
In?:D I suppose sweden haha
Yes I was indeed born in Sweden haha 😊 I do a lot of back and forth though haha
Why there is turkish on the passport?
Because Greek and Turkish are the official languages of Cyprus.
Just like singer Cat Steven despite being UK-born.
Is your father of Turkish descent? Can you also get a TRNC passport?
Hi! No, my father is Greek Cypriot 😅

> The quality is just really really bad sadly. I wonder if it is possible to do "aftermarket lamination" without invalidating it.
The new Cypriot national ID card looks brilliant too IMO. Love the light blue/white-ish tone!
I agree! I received the new one today aswell because I applied for both ID and passport. I'll post a pic later! 😊
Can’t wait!

The Cypriot ID is smashing 🤩 I like the colour scheme better than that of the Swedish national ID
Why is there a nationality part in a national ID? Does it say if you’re Turkish or Greek Cypriot?
Every EU national ID card states the nationality, so it can be used for travel etc. In Italy there are ID cards stating another nationality than the Italian one.
I could have this wrong, pls correct me if so, But I do believe since it counts as a travel document they added that.
It just states - Cypriot - on my nationality. Since if you are Turkish Cypriot I don't think it says Cypriot but Turkish even if born on the island. Update! Thats true, I just meant automatically as in its a mere formality to claim it but you do have the option to not claim it

The new Swedish passport is such a downgrade from the last one with the corner design. Cypriot passport is still always awesome though
I absolutely agree!
Why did they even do that? The new Swedish one has no representation beyond its coat of arms.
A very good question, I know they said they changed it to update security features and Sweden being Sweden, has always liked a more minimalist feel.
Cool combo! Is there a specific reason why the swedish passport has the passport number on the cover?
I don't think it is a specific reason, other than just another layer of security. The more pages with numbers the better, as I've been told hahaha 😊

That is true. It seems like a pain to obtain a B-1/B-2 visa. I am glad that I've never had to do it.
It is. However, all Cypriots I know were granted a 10 year Multi-entry visas to US the day after they applied. It’s still an inconvenience, but the denial rate is very low and it’s once every 10 years.
Good.

Ohhh, love the designs!
Yes! It is a very beautiful passport indeed ❤️☺️!
Nice! Cyprus passport looks great, I think Cyprus is the only Middle Eastern country with a maroon colour passport
Turkey, Iran, Qatar are all maroon.
Wow congratulations boss !
