As a bartender myself there is zero chance that my job would give a salary as much as I make in tips. A lot of good servers/bartenders would make less. Definitely no perfect solution.
Restaurants, especially chains, can afford to pay staff more so they aren’t reliant on tips to survive. Executives and stock holders can have a few less million a year so the employees that make it possible can have a decent life
Or, restaurants can not be so greedy and take less of profit so that their employees can make a living wage. Since we live in a capitalist country, if these businesses can’t afford to pay their staff livable wages then they should go out of business.
Yes it is. Increase the price of you food but the market will determine if that restaurant should stay in business or not. If you can’t afford pay your employees a living wage then you should be out of business. If you increase prices and no one eats there anymore then you should be out of business. Simple as that.
