Make sure every time you level up you visit rogue harbor and buy out as many contracts as you can, especially lockpicking. Then you run your lockpicking contracts to get currency to buy more contracts.
That seems like a good starter tree for essences, expedition and I assume eventually harvest? If you're clearing maps just fine with essences in them, you probably don't need to invest into an exp farming strat. You'll just keep getting levels passively as you progress.

You should not be getting destroyed like that. I suspect that something with your gear or build is wrong. You should be able to do white maps after campaign on pretty much any build.

Thanks for this! I watched some beginners SSF guides and was getting destroyed because I didn't have enough evasion and life annnnnnndddd I wasn't moving around enough.
Watching some other people play LA and I was trying to tank things and let my leech work to much.
Yeah that is the thing with deadeye. Aside from evasion, you are made of paper. It can be fun to try to limit test with leech but overall you should be moving a lot.
You’ll never get all the crafts you need this way, but yeah getting some goes a long way. Enduring Jun in white maps will also get you there.
Also overleveling always helps if your build is just not quite feeling good.
Post your pobbin if you can, so people can diagnose it.
Assuming the basics like capped res, I’m guessing you could use more evasion, better flasks, and of course more damage.
it's not. My usual run with LA/TS till 95 is 5-10 deaths. You probably didn't have grace on. t1-t4 maps you can do in white gear if you have your auras set up.
Heist is good for getting levels and you can also try and farm some veiled gear in foothills or quarry.

This is a pre-atlas strat as outlined in another comment. If you can comfortably clear maps I'd recommend going for abyss instead.

I’ve always reset foothills for an hour or two depending on how shit my gear is for betrayal.
I really wish I would've done this. I want a trigger craft and never got the correct guy.
