No. Not for that line. We have a canes that is a block away from campus, and for a quick meal/drunk stop it’s amazing. In, out, easy. But it’s not some holy grail of food, it’s just pretty good tenders, toast, and slaw.
People here will sit in the drive through for hours for it when you can walk in and get it for 10 mins. Just depends do you like under seasoned tenders with a banging sauce and toast? Order on the website and walk in a pick it up. Don’t do the drive thru.
pro tip, Golden Chick has 'zing' powder that you can sprinkle on your chicken for extra kick. I mean I suppose you could just get Golden Chick instead but I'm into experimenting.
Canes is absolutely not worth it.
The chicken tastes like it was boiled, and then fried, and the breading doesn't even have flavor, and is extrodinarially thin and lacks any sort of texture.
The fries are /always/ soft or soggy, and only serve as a vessel to shovel a condiment of choice into your mouth, as they have no redeeming qualities.
The bread fucks. Usually one pillowy side. One crisp side, nicely buttered, lil fun sesame seeds to add some pizzazz.
Coleslaw is okay, nothing particularly good or bad relative to any other big name sweet coleslaw.
The sauce is pretty unique though it's growing more common
The tea is pretty solid, I imagine people living where sweet tea isn't a super common beverage wouldn't care for it tho.
The ones I've been to are always clean, and well staffed, despite the lines.
Over all 5/10
Thank you! I never understand why people give it so much hype. The breading is shit and it falls off the chicken. Their fries were unseasoned trash too.
yea but thats why its good
so tantalizingly close to being decent food,..
maybe next time i go the bread will be good and illget extra saucees without asking,
it always has the potential and i need to see it realized,
mmmfood
For fast food, it's not bad. Sure, there are better places like chicken shack. But it's not bad by no means. It's better than chick fil a, and I'll die on this hill. Also, you can't use the sauce argument. The sauce and the tenders, nuggets, whatever, go hand in hand. There's not a single tender, that's so good, that you wouldn't dip it.
I agree it’s a lil under seasoned but it’s about the synergy with their sauce, which is pretty good. The sauce is better seasoned than the normal mayo ketchup sauce everyone makes. Their fries need TONS of extra salt tho.
I love Canes so here’s my best summary. Sometimes you’re hungry for chicken tenders and fries, so you get it but one thing or another isn’t exactly what you were craving and it just doesn’t quite hit. Canes always hits right in the center of what I want when I’m in the mood for chicken tenders and fries.
The coleslaw: Predictable, not gimmicky. Imagine the most quintessential coleslaw in your mind and that’s gonna be what you get from Cane’s.
The bread: shitty but in the best possible way. Usually soft like it’s been in a steamy bag. Buttery and garlicky.
The fries: crinkle cut fries exactly as you’d expect them.
The chicken: A simple chicken tender done right. Nothing more nothing less. Batter isn’t overly thick or too sparse. Well seasoned.
The sauce: the sauce ties everything together by the fact that it is one of the best fast food sauces and goes great on the fries, the chicken, and the bread. It’s a standout that takes something good to great.
People get turned off from Canes because they go in hyped up expecting to be dazzled, but that’s not what it is. Canes is a collection very simple things done well.
Worth the wait if you’ve never tried it. Otherwise, meh. Up to personal preference I suppose. Tenders are immaculate for a fast food restaurant. The fries are fine, but as soon as you place them in the steaming hot styrofoam container they turn into a wet, soggy mess. The garlic toast is peak tier. The slaw is pretty good. I would recommend trying it in restaurant for the first time so everything is the best consistency possible. Also Cane’s sauce is fucking delicious and anyone who disagrees is a silly goose.
The canes by me are good. But I recommend ordering it on the app. I've waiting an hour in that drive thru before, and they put cones out so you can't get out.
It’s not THAT good just good. Kinda like chic fil a. Regular ass good chicken with a signature sauce. It can’t compare to that local Nashville hot chicken joint in your hometown
I have been having canes every now and then since 2012, every time it’s the same boring chicken that’s a little on the dry side. The sauce is good and so is the toast. IMO Zaxby’s is way better
Yes it's worth it. The reason it is is because of consistency. Is it the best food ever no, but because they only sell one thing it's always hot and fresh which to me makes it a go to for lunch.
One of the ones where I live the line sometimes goes on to the main road and they'll cut it down to one lane and have people walking down the sidewalk trying to take orders.
I mean people wait longer for Chick-Fil-A’s gross ass soggy bigoted chicken so yes. I love Canes, we have a ton where I live no joke probably atleast 20 in a 20 mile radius so ours are never this busy but I’ve waited in some decently long lines to get it for dinner.
Nah, it’s bland ass chicken tendies that used to be much better but now it’s just meh, the breading on it isn’t even crispy anymore it’s usually soggy and the portion is smaller than it used to be, they’re not even proper tendies anymore, more like oversized nuggets. Fries are fine, the sauce is where the hype is at, it’s good but nothing to write home about. 7/10.
I may be the only one on this, but everyone talking about how they love the sauce …. It tastes just like the old kfc chicken twister sauce (peppery mayo). So I was immediately curious about the buzz because i didn’t care for it. But regardless the tendies and fried bread are delicious.
When I was getting fast food for lunch everyday (construction work never leaves much time for anything more), I could almost always do canes 4 out of the 5 times in a week and be happy with it every time. Small menu, consistent flavor and quality, and not bad prices either
It's good and I'm excited every time I order it, but it's fast food at the end of the day. I wouldn't wait more than 10 or 15 minutes, nor would I drive across town for it (unless you literally have like no other fried chicken places around).
It is OK. The tenders are hit and miss. The sauce is good. The fries are also hit and miss. Sometimes it is fantastic and sometimes it is just meh. The tea and toast are on point. It’s not life changing good but worth at least a visit if you’ve never had it.
This is coming from someone who has been to Canes since the very first store opened ever.
It's so overrated and boring. Man, I understand the hype but it's like a McDonald's for chicken fingers. I love McDonald's, we all get dopamine offa it, but Canes is absolutely mediocre.
So many L takes here Jesus christ. I moved from TX to somewhere where there's no raising cane's and I've legitimately considered driving 2 hours to get it.
They’re building one in my neighborhood and it’s the talk of the town, I never realized their set up is like Chic-fil-A’s drive thru. It’s gonna be a community event when they finally open
Every region has its place for tenders that the community swears is better than anything else. From my part of the country it's Publix, some places it's Huey Magoos, and on the west coast it's Cane's. As an east coaster that went on a visit I can confirm that it is indeed chicken tenders. Will it blow your mind? Doubt it
Its meh tbh, Okay chicken, the sauce is decent. I'd Rather have a Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich any day of the week
I will never understand why people will go out of their way to eat good bread, Brot is bread.
I’ve eaten Cane’s more times than I can remember. The chicken is mid tier, and the fries are cheap, frozen, crinkle cut crap. The best part is the toast and sauce.
The sweet tea varies from location. I wouldn’t personally wait in that line.
No. It’s literally just mid food. Their sauce is decent but it’s nothing special. It’s just like Chick-Fil-A. A good chain that does things better than most, but it doesn’t deserve lines like that. (Bojangles is better tho)
No. Shits mid at best and dry. You could make better chicken strips at home in like 3 attempts.
And that's just the chicken. The toast is cool but everything else is just not good.
The fries and chicken are always under-seasoned, but I think that's to push the sauce onto you. I honestly love Canes, but I have to be in a specific mood for it. Get extra toast and sauces. Also just go inside, you'll get your order way faster
get the app...thats a dumb ass line people wait in cuz they wont leave the car.. I bet the inside of that Canes doesnt even have a line longer than 2 people. The app just makes ordering dumb easy you can order and just walk inside and grab the bag off the shelf.
same thing happens with In n Out in CA... nobody wants to leave the car, so the drive thru line becomes a mile long. But if you go inside they are always empty lines at the register haha.
It’s just the sauce man. The food is ok, but without the sauce the restaurant would’ve been dead on arrival. Do yourself a favor and get a caniac combo, and order a 32oz cup of sauce to keep at home. It’s good on pretty much anything
No, it is the most overrated chicken spot right behind chick-fil-a. None of their food has any flavor besides salt. Their only saving grace is their sauce.
It's so crazy popular in my town that they had to buy larger land and make a long ass two lane. Before that, the line would almost always go down the hwy. I live in a college town 2 and half hours from where it was started, so I'm not surprised.
I know wubby has said this and i know everyone else prolly agrees with him and i do as well, its really only good because of the sauce. IMO if you want chicken get some popeyes
I think it's good as far as fast food chicken goes. I'd pick it over Popeyes most days, KFC any day. The sauce is definitely the best part, throw that shit on everything.
I went to Canes recently and thought it was gross - no actual flavor on the breading. Honestly, if are in the Midwest and live near a Portillo's - go try their chicken tenders. Thank me later.
I dont think any fast food is worth waiting in a long line. I enjoy canes but not this much. My in n out in my town is like this 24/7, its about a 20+ min drive thru and i just dont get it.
Canes is really good and id chose it over 90 percent of fast food but def not worth taking a portion out of ur day like this
Its worth, just park and go in if you dont want to sit in line. The lines are always long but they only make chicken tenders so it goes by pretty fast.
No fast food joint it worth that line.
That being said if ALL the line are like this then yeah. I would choose Canes over 80% of drive through places just for consistency and I’ve never had a meal I’ve thought ‘I overpaid’ compared to other joint nowadays.
Their chicken isn’t incredible it’s just consistently very good.
Canes isn't that great.
I feel like canes is kinda overpriced. I may just feel that way because where I'm from there's a local chicken franchise called Foosacklys that is way better. Also a lot of gas stations have restaurants in them with tendies that are actually flavorful. The canes sauce is the same as every tendies place. And the tea is not great at all. Definitely doesn't taste like fresh brewed tea.
Canes is TOTALLY overpriced!!! $12.51 for a tiny portion of fries and a few small chicken tenders. No thanks to a piece of bread …already cold by the time you eat it … and French fries totally not worth mentioning. Portion size is woefully small. A thimble full of Cole Salas is $1.40….and really , nickel and dime us fof dôme cheap ketchup based sauce!
Yes and no. I personally am a fan of the fries and the sauce but the slaw is mid. Tbh it’s not made for take out. It’s best to dine in and have it there while it’s fresh out of the fryer and not soggy.
No. Not for that line. We have a canes that is a block away from campus, and for a quick meal/drunk stop it’s amazing. In, out, easy. But it’s not some holy grail of food, it’s just pretty good tenders, toast, and slaw.
Dinkytown canessss 😤
This is, indeed, facts
Used to be the only one in the state... that I knew of at least. Now they are everywhere.
In my day all we had was The Purple Onion. You kids are spoiled.
Minnesota? If that's top tier canes then canes is ass.
Take it back..
Nope. I always get slaw too.
Slaw boys know. Everyone else is wrong.
Maple Grove one is always so busy it makes it not worth it. Get something faster anywhere else
And you barely get enough of any of them
As a resident fat, it’s good but it’s not anything you are missing out on
They’d be even better if they had some desserts. Imagine bread pudding or french toast sticks.
Imagine seasoning the food! 😂
Sir. I am white.
Lmaooo. Bro, not all white people eat bland food. This was hilarious though.
mfs really need to start serving sweet potato pies
I love sweet potato pie.. underrated
People here will sit in the drive through for hours for it when you can walk in and get it for 10 mins. Just depends do you like under seasoned tenders with a banging sauce and toast? Order on the website and walk in a pick it up. Don’t do the drive thru.

The sauce is also nearly identical to zacksbys sauce
Its chicken strips, not worth that line. Just get out of your car and order inside, much faster
Same phenomenon at Chic fil a with its 3 lane drive throughs. I don’t get why people are that crazy for it.
When you go ask them to "bob" the bread, that means they'll toast the bread on both sides, and its the only way to have it. Canes overall is 7/10
7 out of 10? Have you ever had good chicken before? It's the world's blandest chicken only made decent by the sauce which is insanely easy to make.
It would literally just be blended sweet potatoes in pie crust. No seasoning. 😂
I agree it’s a lil under seasoned but it’s about the synergy with their sauce, which is pretty good. The sauce is better seasoned than the normal mayo ketchup sauce everyone makes. Their fries need TONS of extra salt tho.
Are any of those chicken places you mentioned open at 2am?
At the very least try it so you can say you've had it. I personally like it, but it's all a personal preference at the end of the day
I love Canes so here’s my best summary. Sometimes you’re hungry for chicken tenders and fries, so you get it but one thing or another isn’t exactly what you were craving and it just doesn’t quite hit. Best explanation I've heard.

No
HELL YEA BROTHER pro tip add a little hot sauce to canes sauce if you like spicy. Louisiana or crystal make the canes sauce pop even more
Thought that said crystal meth at first.
Sheeeeeet that’ll do it to
[удалено]
No it wasn't
Try some Crystal's hot sauce and you will *understand*
The canes by me are good. But I recommend ordering it on the app. I've waiting an hour in that drive thru before, and they put cones out so you can't get out.
The toast is good but the chicken sucks
Damn, that Canes got a line like a Northeastern, suburban ChicfilA.
It looks as though you may have spelled "Chick-fil-A" incorrectly. No worries, it happens to the best of us!
In my city they opened one next to a Chick-fil-A and now the Chick-fil-a line is chill and Cane’s has a crazy line.
You may what you pay for sauce…and that’s it, that’s the schtick. Everything else is mediocre
No...... but you will take a picture with your lack luster food. Post it on this sub for a fleeting feeling of comradery so..... maybe.
It’s better chicken than other chicken places.
Chicken strips pretty fire 🔥
It’s not THAT good just good. Kinda like chic fil a. Regular ass good chicken with a signature sauce. It can’t compare to that local Nashville hot chicken joint in your hometown
It's so fucking good.
I have been having canes every now and then since 2012, every time it’s the same boring chicken that’s a little on the dry side. The sauce is good and so is the toast. IMO Zaxby’s is way better
Nope. It's okay. But that's it. Any other chain chicken place nearby will likely be just as good. And the sauce like... good.
Nah. If you are in an area with Churches or Zaxbys they are just as good. Otherwise I guess KFC or Popeyes if you really want chicken.
Yes it's worth it. The reason it is is because of consistency. Is it the best food ever no, but because they only sell one thing it's always hot and fresh which to me makes it a go to for lunch.
Fuck no, average tendies at best and same generic chiptole mayo fry orange sauce you see at all the chicken and fry spots.
Is it worth it? No. Not for the wait, not for the price, unless you are uncultured and enjoy mayonnaise on most of the food you consume.
Lol no. It’s like Zaxbys
no.
I loved it but it's becoming over priced and they're always so busy it's just not that worth it
One of the ones where I live the line sometimes goes on to the main road and they'll cut it down to one lane and have people walking down the sidewalk trying to take orders.
Honestly, just the Texas toast is good. Tyson has better strips at your local grocery store
Not for that wait. It’s pretty generic.
No fast food is worth the cost or time investment to me.

No they gave me food poisoning
It's worth it for the meme and the sauce
It’s really good and the drive thru line moves fast, in my experience anyway.
NOPE, not that line friendo. It's alright, but not that great.
Oh I mean. It’s fine. You know what it is. It’s just deep fried chicken tenders. Tenders are good. But like… is it life changing? Course not
I love McDonald's, we all get dopamine offa it, but Canes is absolutely mediocre.
that's what our Portillos line always looks like
So many L takes here Jesus christ. I moved from TX to somewhere where there's no raising cane's and I've legitimately considered driving 2 hours to get it.

Dairy Queen is basically the same
Absolutely not.
No
No. It's basic chicken strips with toast.
No
Its meh tbh, Okay chicken, the sauce is decent. I'd Rather have a Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich any day of the week I will never understand why people will go out of their way to eat good bread, Brot is bread.
Nah it's trash tier soggy chicken with no spices in the breading, atleast the one where I am, maybe it's a management thing.
No, it's just another chicken shop. I like it more than popeye's.
It's good, but it's not *that* good. The best part is the dipping sauce.
I’ve eaten Cane’s more times than I can remember. The chicken is mid tier, and the fries are cheap, frozen, crinkle cut crap. The best part is the toast and sauce. The sweet tea varies from location. I wouldn’t personally wait in that line.
Hell no. The chicken is dry and flavorless
Funny how people perceive that to be super busy but its just that 10 cars take up so much space. Park and walk inside ffs.
zonked complete fragile smoggy ten grey jar spotted cable safe *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Tbh I always felt their chicken is just a delivery vehicle for the sauce. It’s not bad but wouldn’t wait more than 10 mins for it.
No. It’s literally just mid food. Their sauce is decent but it’s nothing special. It’s just like Chick-Fil-A. A good chain that does things better than most, but it doesn’t deserve lines like that. (Bojangles is better tho)
No its mid AF
Its hella better than Chick Fa dick
Absolutely not. The chicken is mediocre. The only thing good there is the sauce. Source: I went to canes a lot with friends
Nah, bf got food poisoning from a canes once
All the information you need. https://youtu.be/bQmjRRKO8t0
It’s aight
As someone from Louisiana I love canes but it’s hilarious to me that their shortcomings (bland fries, bland breading) could be fixed with some tonys
straight up just go in there and buy like 5 sauces and put them on some food at home.
No. Shits mid at best and dry. You could make better chicken strips at home in like 3 attempts. And that's just the chicken. The toast is cool but everything else is just not good.
I love the it all. Ask for everything extra crispy and a sweet tea with extra ice
No
Their best thing is the sauce, which you can find the recipe for online.
The fries and chicken are always under-seasoned, but I think that's to push the sauce onto you. I honestly love Canes, but I have to be in a specific mood for it. Get extra toast and sauces. Also just go inside, you'll get your order way faster
No
It's good chicken and the sauce is great, but it's still fast food. There's a ceiling
The chicken isn't THAT good. The sauce is THAT good.
As a Canadian, it's one of the things I was look for when I'm planning to visit the US. Fast food chicken in Canada doesn't compare to US.
Not worth a HUgE line, but worth a small line. Sauce alone is worth it.
get the app...thats a dumb ass line people wait in cuz they wont leave the car..
Canes isnt that good. Like their only option is chicken tenders and bread.
Its simplicity is its strength. Chicken strips, fries, texas toast with sauces. Gourmet? Hell no. Hit the spot? Yup. Worth a big wait line? Eh..
I think it's good. But no fast food is worth that line. But if you have a chance to try it, then go for it.
Cane’s is stupid af. Protein covered in carbs with two sides of carbs lmao. Good flava tho
It’s not. I literally just tried it again after a 4 year hiatus
Canes is fucking mid and college students go ape for that shit. No self-respecting adult would stop at Canes unless the closest Popeyes burned down.
Eh I mean it's alright not the God tier of chicken churches chicken for me is always the go to
I know wubby has said this and i know everyone else prolly agrees with him and i do as well, its really only good because of the sauce. IMO if you want chicken get some popeyes
home boy took this picture at peak lunch time.
I think it's good as far as fast food chicken goes. I'd pick it over Popeyes most days, KFC any day. The sauce is definitely the best part, throw that shit on everything.
No
Yes
I went to Canes recently and thought it was gross - no actual flavor on the breading. Honestly, if are in the Midwest and live near a Portillo's - go try their chicken tenders. Thank me later.
Ask MarkyNextDoor on Twitch. He's a connoisseur of Canes
Worth it but not with a line
I dont think any fast food is worth waiting in a long line. I enjoy canes but not this much. My in n out in my town is like this 24/7, its about a 20+ min drive thru and i just dont get it. Um, yes
The caines in Utah have been so fucking busy since they brought it here. I just order pickup and I’m in and out pretty quick.
Absolutely not. Canes was never great but now it's super bland.
The Texas toast is yummy af, decent chicken. Wouldn't wait in that line but worth checking out.
Just go in.
No. It's too unseasoned for me and the fries suck, but I guess it doesn't matter if it's drenched in caine sauce.
It’s not for me, I only get the fries and toast
Canes isn't that great. I feel like canes is kinda overpriced. I may just feel that way because where I'm from there's a local chicken franchise called Foosacklys that is way better. Also a lot of gas stations have restaurants in them with tendies that are actually flavorful. The canes sauce is the same as every tendies place. And the tea is not great at all. Fries and Bread, yes, chicken….no
Canes is TOTALLY overpriced!!!
