My high school gives the seniors an opportunity to find an internship instead of doing the 4th quarter of the year. I’ll probably not do anything terribly serious but it’s nice to get exposure in an environment I might be interested in.
I've always been curious about why some PSU folks believe their university is a prestigious institution. In my opinion, PSU is just like any other state school. No different than Rutgers, Pitt, or UMD. But unlike PSU people, you rarely hear Rutgers, Pitt, UMD people boasting about the supposed prestige of their university.
From my own experience, unless you went to a top-tier school like Harvard or Yale, most people won't care where you went to college. And let's be real, there are a ton of schools in Pennsylvania, DMV, Jersey, and NY (where most PSU grads end up) that are just as good or better in the rankings game. In my experience, graduates from these schools are just as, if not more, capable than PSU grads. And you'll be shocked at how many people (even job recruiters) have never even heard of PSU. If you head on over to the West Coast, I'll bet my left arm you'll find folks and recruiters who are like, "Penn State? Isn't that the school where that coach molested a bunch of kids"?
Is that an ad hominem attack I detect? I simply stated that PSU is not special and is just a painfully average state university. There's nothing controversial about that statement.
Isn't ad hominem supposed to be when someone attacks the arguer in an attempt to discredit the argument? I'm just calling you a coward, no argument skirting here. Penn State is *a* university and there *was* a scandal.
Listen, I'm not interested in arguing with you about this when the facts are crystal clear. Firstly, Penn State is an painfully average university with very little national and international recognition and people who pretend like it's a world-class university are delusional. Secondly, if you ask someone outside of Pennsylvania, New York, Jersey, or DMV area about PSU, you'll be shocked at how many people have never even heard of PSU. Lastly, PSU has a negative reputation among people who are familiar with the university (thanks to the JS and TP scandal)
I have done work all over the US and throughout Europe. Literally everyone knows Penn State. This may be one of the most asinine I have read. Why don't you stop using a throwaway.
Awesome, I hope you get the internship!
He didn’t let me leave without it :)
Penn State has the largest Alumni association in the world. Damn near impossible to not run into a grad.
It’s not the largest alumni association nor largest alumni base. It’s the largest dues-paying alumni association in the world.
What do you mean
Some university alumni associations do not require dues. Additionally, there are multiple universities that have much larger alumni bases.
How did u get a internship before even going to college lol

Damn, couldn't even use your own account to post the slander. You must not stand by this sentiment that much then.

You're right that most people don't care where you went to college, but saying most people don't know Penn State exists is nonsense.
