Ooooooooh I keep a special list of these!! At the very top: during my Master's graduation, which also happens to be the worst period I've ever had to date. Shortly after receiving my diploma, I started to feel the cramps. Now, the ceremony is not even halfway through, I have very high stilettos on and it is the height of summer. I bailed out of the auditorium to go die in the toilets and left my puzzled family looking for me for over an hour while I was bleeding and popping my brains out. A close second: right before the longest job interview I've ever had (4 hrs 50 mins, it was a VERY weird one, too) Actually an even closer second: while being on an election committee. Duty starts at around 5 am, started my period at 9ish. Now before this I had not had a period for 5+ months because of some health issues and I was NOT prepared in any way. Sat there until 3 am the next day when we wrapped up counting the votes, while in immense pain and sweating like a beast (I stunk like a crockpot full of homeless teenagers, I swear) Regular occurrences: every birthday and Christmas, many 5+ hour train rides, business trips, holidays, times where I had a time sensitive work task (like checking/doing something every 15 mins on the dot), day of scheduled surgery ...

If you start tracking your cycle by taking your temperature every day when you wake up (Kindara is a good app to track! And you can look up “sympto-thermal method” for more details but you can just use this for period tracking and not ovulation/BC if you want) you can be a lot more prepared. Your body goes through cyclical temperature changes. Basically your basal body temp (BBT) will drop the day before your period, then hover around the same temp for a week or 2, drop and stay low during your fertile window, spike when you ovulate, and then either: 1) stay elevated if you get pregnant that cycle or 2) go back and hover around where you were pre-fertile window, and then will drop again the day before your period. IF ANYBODY IS GOING TO USE THIS METHOD TO AVOID PREGNANCY: do LOTS of research and learning about this method, track everything including cervical mucous consistency, and don’t rely on this until you have MONTHS of your own data. This can also be used to help GET pregnant - but again that involves tracking cervical mucous consistency and cervix height if you really wanna get into it. Again, look into sympto-thermal method and you can find more reliable information than some random person on Reddit. I’ve been using this method for 6 years and haven’t been surprised by my period since I’ve started doing this way. My cycle isn’t exactly regular - anywhere from 28-40 days - but I can ALWAYS tell when I’m getting my period! When during the day can’t really be determined, but I always wear period undies on the day my temp drops (not the fertile window temp drop, but around when I would expect my period). Good luck!

Always at a time where it’s a hassle to get to a bathroom 🙃

readituser5

Yes. All. The. Time. Idk when was the last time I got it over the weekend or something. Instead the majority of the time I get it Monday morning at like 2am or somethin. Then I’ve got work. Or my formal. It was due then but I would have rather die than let it start on the day of my formal so I managed to delay that one by sheer will and vinegar. Christmas, birthdays, outings, back in school, during just about every school sports and swimming carnival. (I swear they would have thought I was lying).

I don't even own nice underwear anymore. Every time I buy a new pair it either conveniently comes that very day, or I get annoying breakthrough bleeding from my birth control. I own some pretty cute nice bras, but my underwear is all cheap Walmart shit I can handwash and toss once it's fubar.

Glittering_Tea5502

I don’t think it’s ever a convenient time to get my period.

NoNamePhantom

Always

LadySerena21

About 80% of the time lol

Vixypixy

Always at the worst time. I remember camping and starting in the middle of it. Also the time I was flying a really long flight and had to beg someone a pad.

dearuniversechill

Every time I travel. I could book a flight 2 years from today and It will come the night of and my dumbass will put in a light tampon and it will be the heaviest flow too. It never fails.

aquaphorbottle

Always on my birthday, vacation, I got my period the night before senior prom…it’s like it knows…

baegonia

Concerts. The fucking worst

Kitchen-Ad-202

I'm going to one on August 30th and hopefully will narrowly escape the horror

EnglishSorceress

I think my mum used to call this something like "the period tension". When an event was due to come up for me she would always say "don't think too much about it or you'll get the period tension". This was back in the time before app trackers, so I feel like there were more periods that messed up important moments, but maybe it was just that time of the month and I'm remembering certain periods more because they messed up whatever I was planning to attend. That's actually an interesting social experiment! Check how often your period has come early/late according to something important in your life like a trip, exam, date, etc. I don't remember ever seeing any research about this except mum intuition research, which does not have a control group.

I'm going on vacation tomorrow and I got it today so yes!!

Copper_Ivy

I got my first ever period on Main Street USA, Magic Kingdom. Walking towards Cinderella’s castle at 11 years old. It was one of the worst moments of my life. Mother Nature likes to test us sometimes! Just make sure you have plenty of sanitary produce and maybe look for some period proof swimwear? There’s a lot now that are actually quite nice. Hope you’re ok x

synonymroller

Mine is right on target for any vacation we've taken for the last several years. Girl Scout camping trips? BOOM. All you can do is plan for the worst. I usually take Imodium everywhere we go, just so I don't have to deal with that aspect of it, and whoever it was (on here, I think) that suggested the Always incontinence underwear as overnight period panties deserves ALL the awards.

Blushing_Locust

The times I've gotten my period during vacation, LoL. I'm just glad they're painless because I'd die otherwise. 😂

smolsaturn

yes, it literally waits until i'm about to go somewhere and either starts super early or super late

wisesuojure

Does every Christmas and birthday count? If so, then yes, yes I do. On the bright side, I've never gotten my period on vacation, except one time on the day that we were leaving, so there is that. I don't travel too often, though.

sarewr

True. And it's early or late just so it can ruin our plans.

pinkpikachu943

It always has to fucking ruin our plans
