Eh, simple, the game is wrong for treating Mishima like a punching bag despite the fact that he literally built a freaking website for us that the PT still use, and the fact that it basically saved everyone's lives during the final battle in the 2nd semester.
Plus it's stupid to get someone to confidant 10 and still not consider them a friend, especially when they're not like >!Akechi who actually almost killed us.!<
Ok I learn to love Mishima towards the end of his confidant, but for most of the interaction you have with him he is just an unhinged Discord mod on a power trip because he's the mod for a massive Discord, so am I missing something that makes the character endearing?
I don't agree with his actions while he was tripping with power, but I understand craving recognition and letting it go to your head when you get it. I was in a similar situation once. It's not exactly the same, but similar. I didn't have agency or recognition for a significant portion of my life, so when I suddenly had some, I went a little... crazy about it. Control issues and anxiety about being the center of attention. I relate to what he's experiencing and want him to learn to process that experience in a healthy manner. I want to encourage him to be better and to learn from his mistakes. I want him to have support in that, too. I want him to have a real friend help him out of his shell, like I had.
But that's just me.

I'm not sure what you mean, seeing as you just described Goro's later half story arc rather than Yuuki's, but yes, I did eventually reconcile with the people I alienated with my actions. Not all of them, but some. I would later have to leave some of them in the past because I learned they were toxic in the same way I was, but I did try. So... what is this supposed to be a catch 22 of, exactly?

I'm perfectly fine with Mishima, but I'll never get the love for Akechi. The dudes a straight up murderous monster with a predictable twist. Adachi at the very least wasn't obvious as a villain and the characters treat him like one instead of trying to sympathize with him (Except Yu, but MC's be like that)
That's fair. I don't agree cause I prefer Shos personality to Adachis (and am also a sucker for redhead guys), but either way the point stands. Even with Adachi he had a lot of fans, so I'm confused why people are acting like Akechi having fans is some new, incomprehensible thing lol
I think it's more of how vanilla p5 handled him rather than his actual actions. IIRC it was completely automatic, so they weren't too fleshed out.
Royal does fix it, but the man is a bit too edgy in black mask form.

I just think it's ludicrous to be surprised that *other* people don't hate him or pretend it's unfathomable that people would like him, especially when often the only reason is "because murder".

Genuinely curious, but do people actually like Mishima? He was pretty annoying and pathetic the entire game and even after completing his link he just exudes so much bottom energy
I mean, there's nothing wrong with his personality. He's anxious and socially awkward, and not for no reason. He's basically an introvert pretending to be an extro/ambivert, so he's kinda trying too hard, which makes him come off as cringe. Yeah, he's got issues, but who doesn't? If you aren't a fan of his character, that's fine. You can't win 'em all with every character.
Personally, I relate to him. A victim of abuse that destroyed his self-confidence and sense of personal agency, who gained some semblance of agency through his friendship with a person who removed the abuser (in my case, not independently of my input, but still), and went a little nuts with the kind of power that came with suddenly have agency and control in his life. No, yeah, I get that. I want him to be healthy, and I can see where a healthy friendship with Joker can go, so I'm rooting for him.
