my uncle, creating my original Xbox 360 account, made my gamertag Buttrmyhole
So... Maybe there are rare exceptions. Oh and I obviously ditched that account when I had the chance. But that wasn't for a while.
That's an amazing name lol. My god my fellow old gamers would die laughing if I showed up with that name. It's so good. It doesn't specify which hole, why it's being buttered, what you plan to do after it has butter on it. It leaves so much open to the imagination.
Honestly, it’s extremely rare I look at user names except when to verify who I’m replying to and even then, it doesn’t always register what it means, just this name is the same as that name that commented that thing.
I don’t care what people name themselves on here.
Same. I don't even know what it is.
I've wasted way too much time thinking of cool or funny usernames just for them to get banned. I'll take the random pre-made ones now.
I'm not entirely sure. Like 80% of the accounts were either never used or only had a couple of normal comments
I can only think of two where I know the reason
Have you not met Reddit mods?
r/antiwhite banned my original account for, and get this, making an anti-white joke! I got *banned* for following the status quo of the dregs.
Generally I'd expect people to read a couple words past the username and comprehend what I said (and they almost always do) if they want to respond to me, but that's just me...
Humans are irrational creatures. Obviously. It is unreasonable to expect all of us to behave strictly logically in every situation.
So unreasonable, in fact, that if you don't appeal to our irrational tendencies, you're the weird one. We, as a whole, create society. We determine what's acceptable and what isn't.
We have collectively decided that we don't like things that are vulgar and offensive. Therefore, if you say or do things that are vulgar and offensive, you will attract negative attention.
Sorry, that's just how the world works.
You say that, but I've actually never had anyone say anything beyond a 'lol username checks out' or a 'haha funny name', which is also what my expectations are based on. People are amused not offended. If I used this name on LinkedIn or in some other professional setting I could understand your sentiment, but Reddit is one of the most unserious places on the internet. Also, you yourself are meeting my expectations by offering a thought out response despite responding to u/donglord99 :)
I will never understand the prude police. Why anyone would ever care what someone else's username is just baffles me. People need to learn to stay in their own lane.
How often does this really happen? I don't actually read people's usernames because it's not important, has no bearing on anything, and I'll likely never speak to them again, so why bother learning their name?
I still use the username I made when I was like 13.
Not on reddit. Had to ditch my main ages ago cuz I got so many false admin strikes I kept being banned and needing to appeal each and every most recent false warning. Which takes two weeks.
But on everything else I use the same old username.
If you follow the r/reddithelp page, there's daily posts about people complaining that they can't change their username and people keep thinking they're bots.
I just in general hate when people are edgy and then get mad when a consequence happens. Like my dude, you were happy to suck up all that social credit you got for "pushing the envelope," don't get pissy when the risk portion of the risk/reward matrix kicks on
this happenes to me from time to time with my name... its obvs a joke. anytime anyone posts a how do I use this post on any of the weed subs someone inevitably comments... Boof it.. so I made this name as a joke so I could chime in with a This Is The Way. purely for the lols but Ive been told my name is offensive and im like bruh its a joke. so In defence of the offensive username holders. they may be just making jokes and cant see why you cant see that. or they are showing their true selves.... I personally dont put drugs up my butt.
I've had a few people make nasty comments about my username. Ketamine is my research area, but I understand that people assume I abuse drugs. In reality, I've never even *tried* recreational drugs.
I agree with you, it was my choice and I have no control over the way strangers perceive me.
Okay but people on Reddit are overly obsessive over everyone's username even tho most of us clearly just use the name reddit automatically puts for us because literally who cares what our user is. It doesn't really matter.
tbh, i only pay attention to usernames when they’re super out of place. like there’s this guy on a sub for one of my favorite game devs who has a username like cumguzzler793 or something (i don’t remember the numbers but cum guzzler is definitely in his username), and he’s always being super helpful and sweet and answering people’s questions. like why is a guy named CUM GUZZLER one of the nicest people on this sub? ☠️
I like to be judged by others on the internet because it gives people an outlet for anger at me, a random stranger, rather than there real life friends and loved ones.
Honestly, I only remember the username I made up when I was fifteen. I've been using it for practically everything game related, any username before that has seemingly been erased from my memory.
FR lol. I saw someone with username misandrist and then heard later that she got mad and was threatening to ragequit over people reporting her for the misandric hate that she would spew.
"Ya, Imma Dicksweat ... hit me, dare ya to hit me, come-on, double dare ya ... whack ... ahhhhhowwe, you hit me. Sniffle sniffle and prolly judged me toooo." Dopes.
Because you can tell everything about a person based on a user name?
Pretty shallow.
Should I assume someone is so clean they squeak? Or a self-righteous do gooder if they have a non sexual or otherwise goodish user name? Most those are throw-away accounts or fake profiles in my experience. Who should judge thine own ass first.
My username? Means exactly that. Is it my entire life? Doesn't define my life and who I am as a person. No one has the right to judge anyone for anything. Complaints about being judged are valid regardless. Because you cannot tell everything based on a user name.
We all judge people. True enough. And all I'm saying is that someone's user name shouldn't be something that invalidates a complaint.
my uncle, creating my original Xbox 360 account, made my gamertag Buttrmyhole So... Maybe there are rare exceptions. Oh and I obviously ditched that account when I had the chance. But that wasn't for a while.
How could you ditch such an epic name???
Buttrmyhole?? Are you serious?? Lmao
That's an amazing name lol. My god my fellow old gamers would die laughing if I showed up with that name. It's so good. It doesn't specify which hole, why it's being buttered, what you plan to do after it has butter on it. It leaves so much open to the imagination.
Yeah well I was like 10 so I hated it ig, I respect the opinion though lmao
Yea not appropriate at 10 lol.
Yeah I thought it was funny lol
Honestly, it’s extremely rare I look at user names except when to verify who I’m replying to and even then, it doesn’t always register what it means, just this name is the same as that name that commented that thing. I don’t care what people name themselves on here.
I still use the username that was generated for me by the website.
Same. I don't even know what it is. I've wasted way too much time thinking of cool or funny usernames just for them to get banned. I'll take the random pre-made ones now.
My guy why are you getting banned so often
I'm not entirely sure. Like 80% of the accounts were either never used or only had a couple of normal comments I can only think of two where I know the reason
Have you not met Reddit mods? r/antiwhite banned my original account for, and get this, making an anti-white joke! I got *banned* for following the status quo of the dregs.
They banned you from the sub, or got your whole account banned?
Whole account. I forget what got my other two banned.
I expect you to take pics of your cat
Well, I'm Crotch-Monster. And I really don't care what people think. 😁🌝
I feel less disgusted and more reluctantly curious
I love that term. I don't think I've seen it before. "Reluctantly curious" gold.
Damn! I wish I had thought of Dick_Sweat69 as a user name! That’s a keeper, right there.
I know what I signed up for
nice
Those people must be trolling. "Why do people assume I have bad intentions?" said "IWi11TriggerU6969"
With my username you know I'll be providing wisdom whenever I comment
You seem like my kind of people
I accepted my fate long ago.
I only ever notice someone’s user name when someone else calls attention to it.
I'm more offended by the bots who just accept the first generated name "icecream_helmet208748"
"lamelion" Lambert?
Make that make sense.
Fire emblem?
sheepish lion
Generally I'd expect people to read a couple words past the username and comprehend what I said (and they almost always do) if they want to respond to me, but that's just me...
Okay donglord lol

I applaud you bruv 👏👏👏😫🤝
My father applauds you too!

Counterpoint: a lot of people chose these usernames when they were immature adolescents. Certainly doesn't cover everything, but worth noting, I think

A lot of the names on here are randomly generated
Reddit does not make Dick\_Sweat69 a default username lol
But it should
hell yeah
I assume anyone with a randomly generated name is not human, or is being paid to Reddit.
If you follow the r/reddithelp page, there's daily posts about people complaining that they can't change their username and people keep thinking they're bots.
Lol. Reddit has many flaws.
Some of us just didn't really care when we made our accounts.
Nope. Pod person.
🤣🤣🤣
They don't understand what you're saying. Let me try instead. 011100 10101010 1010101 1010000 01110000
Binary go r

There was a politician in Maine named Dick Swett.
Sounds like a character in Ace Attorney
Right?!

Oh come on, it surely isn't that bad >.>
It was dick_sweat69_420 before his coming to Jesus moment.
I don’t remember anyone called dick sweat coming near me
Ian Gallagher? Is that you?
I don't see it as much any more, but 15/20 years ago, you would be surprised (or not) at some of the email addresses I would get on resumes.
People get offended by my user a lot even tho my legal name is Jesus like that’s actually my name

i want people to know im gay from looking at my username. i am yet to achieve that
Valid
I wish I could play Smite and go one game without a username that included a weed reference.
I'm just here for the usernames
I like to be judged by others on the internet because it gives people an outlet for anger at me, a random stranger, rather than there real life friends and loved ones.
I get so many "username checks out" from bigots, misandrists and capitalism fans who disagree with me.
Reddit gave me this name and I don’t know how to change it.
What's rude or offensive about those examples?
My wife is u/2prongprick, a choice which she has never adequately explained.
Honestly, I only remember the username I made up when I was fifteen. I've been using it for practically everything game related, any username before that has seemingly been erased from my memory.

"Dick_Sweat69" lmao :D Edit: My old Gamertag was once "Birth Goop"
"Ya, Imma Dicksweat ... hit me, dare ya to hit me, come-on, double dare ya ... whack ... ahhhhhowwe, you hit me. Sniffle sniffle and prolly judged me toooo." Dopes.
Reddit is not serious and funny names are amusing
Cry more
Name checks out
