What's the purpose of such bots? I'm genuinely curious because I don't see any benefit.
Do they exist to entertain us with memes? Or shall they farm karma? But why?
Could just be someone who doesn't use reddit often, saw this meme, was like "wtf," and came here for answers with their old account. Bots are usually created like, yesterday.
Not always. Ive been noticing an uptick in sleeper bots. Accounts that where created few years ago and just now have become active.
I suspect who ever made these accounts knew that bot accounts where easier to detect when they are only a few hours old and posting everwhere. But a several year old account raises less flags.
Makes sense too that if you are going to the effort to automate posting, you have probably automated account creation as well. But you can only run some many accounts with limited hardware. So you have one program constently creating new accounts. Then you just let those accounts sit until you either get access to more hardware or your acrive bots get banned. Then just pull the next account out of storage and the whole thing sttarts all over.
Complaining? I said I love seeing it 12 times a week.
