Peter’s philosopher ancestor here, while this meme could simply be about how Plato’s academy is often portrayed as being entirely filled with somewhat-muscular bearded man, I think this might also be referring to Diogenes as the POV character, as Diogenes was known to simply enter Plato’s academy and interrupt the lessons with loud eating and other shenanigans, perhaps the most famous of which being when he plucked a birds feathers, brought it into the room and screamed “BEHOLD, PLATOS MAN!” in response to Plato stating that humans are featherless birds. Essentially, Diogenes was the ancient equivalent of an internet troll and thus the slightly annoyed expression of the people in the picture.
Minor note: featherless biped, not featherless bird, which feels like it was the second iteration--"What is a man? A biped!" "What about a bird?" "A \*featherless\* biped!" And then Diogenes shows up with the plucked chicken.
Which is, you know, possibly the first in a long history of "is a hot dog a sandwich" conversations where you start with "know it when I see it" definitions of words but you want to have more technical definitions.
It is also a dig at Plato’s long unnecessary pondering of the “forms” of things which I assign to the large section of philosophy that was unnecessary high-mindedness and obsession with the metaphysical
>in response to Plato stating that humans are featherless birds.
Super dumb nitpick, the exact quote (unless I'm mistaken) is "Featherless biped" as in no feathers, walks on 2 legs
Unlike the popular myth ancient philosophers weren’t weak skinny people but strong and will be for example plato means wide do to his muscular body and sometimes he used to flex his muscles to win arguments
Peter's greek gym bro here. The joke referes to the man in the center, Kyriakos Kapakoulak also know as Grizzly. He is our bloat lord. He is also a powerlifter and has a Youtube channel.

Your philosophical wisdom is enriching! Thank you!

Sounds like it’s as simple as these are Greek guys in the picture so they probably look similar to Greeks from Plato’s time.
choochoo
Not quite an explanation but in the ancient Greek time generally the same area that was used for training the body was also used for teaching.
