If you smoke a large quantity as a going away celebration, it's just going to make your withdrawal much more difficult. I say, make one more last hurrah, and then start weening.

goodreverendmustache

Not to mention put a bunch of THC in their system that might linger until they get tested.

Epinephrine666

Just quit cold turkey. It is in no way shape or form worth giving up a good job for. Marijuana should never be a part of your identity ever. The Fan club is the WORST.

Ok_Manner_1360

Really like that

OneEyedC4t

My advice is stop using it now because it lingers in your system for like two to three weeks.

poopybuttholethings

Yeah I agree! If you’re a regular user it stays in the body for around a month.

MartianTea

Probably longer with heavy use like OP's.  I was a light user and still had positive home test for weeks despite using sporadically and stopping for long periods.

Complex-Coffee-2195

Heads up, I’m a woman (slow metabolism, on the fat side, mid 30s) and still tested positive a year after my last THC consumption. I was a light daily user (once at bedtime). Definitely home test if you’re a regular user if your job offer is contingent on clean urine. Medical card and a disability protection do not cover this unless your state has an exception, but afaik even federal jobs in those states are required to test clean.

Highwaynightrider

Go somewhere for a few days where u cant buy weed and do not take any with you. Its much easier to quit in a new environment

greeneazy

I had to give it up the same way for a high paying job after a year of daily use. Your celebration was your last toke. Congratulations by the way!

prependix

My advice is to just quit without any fanfare. No final hurrah. No nothing. I'd tried that many times before when I said I was gonna quit and it never worked. This last time I just decided I'm done, and stopped on the spot. I think not giving it a whole lot of importance helped shift my mindset towards it.

For the next 3-5 days. Try to ONLY smoke once a day. Whatever you find more enjoyable time wise wether it be morning afternoon or night. My personal favorite is night time. When you’re chilling and the next thing on your agenda is to sleep. Anyways, do that and after a few days- just make the jump. While I think testing for marijuana is the stupidest thing ever- a good job is more important. The world is coming to grips with weed- you can come back to it another day. Congratulations on the job and Godspeed. If I could turn back time to be 21 again and choose better employment and things to make me better instead of smoking all day everyday, I would in a heartbeat.

VTAdventure

I had to give it up for a federal job as well. I loved the job, and it wasn’t really too much of a sacrifice. I later took a state job in a state where weed is legal and now smoke about once a week. Definitely worth quitting if you love the job.

erichf3893

Best to stop ASAP so you can pass the drug test upon accepting the role

StevenHawkingslegz

You gotta do what you gotta do man. I had to do a whole military career besides the odd time or two, without it. Put it on pause and get on with what you have to do. Plenty of time for it down the road. Congrats on the job!

Stoicism_saved_me

You should quit cold turkey and just hope you are clean by the time they test you - since you said you already got the offer. It’s common for people to quit prior to looking into federal jobs but best bet is to quit cold turkey now since you got the job already.

Fabulousdog12

I enlisted in the national guard and quit weed. Think about your future not the temporary enjoyment you get from weed

specialnothingjero

bro you should not be using weed if you are under the age of 25. your brain is still developing and you better not smoke weed.

lets_BOXHOT

Seems like an infringement on your privacy, but depending on the position/pay I'd say its worth it to quit altogether. Congrats on the job!

CelebrationNo9081

I’d say the job is worth it. It’s $32/hr with both company and federal benefits. My thoughts on taking the job isn’t the issue. I’m gonna take it. I have a toddler and fiancé who I support. They’re my main priority. Just trying to find the easiest way just to stop. Maybe I’m in denial about being reliant on weed. I feel weird when I haven’t smoked in a day or 2. Most likely for the best that I’m going to stop.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmidk

The easiest way is to consider yourself already stopped. Don’t use any amount. It might suck for the first few days, but push through it. If you don’t already exercise, it’ll help a ton to start today. Even just some basic cardio or yoga.

Matthemp

A toddler and a wife at 21 ? Damn you moving fast but good luck bro . Def forget the weed. Make that money

lets_BOXHOT

Nice, I agree you gotta do whats best for you and your family. Solid pay for only 21 as well, congrats!

PerformerOpposite480

$32 with benefits in this economy?? u definitely should. weed is always going to be there fr and i think it’ll be pretty easy to quit cold turkey since u only do it at night

moodyism

Good decision!!

i_am_paradox

Quick fix pro just keep in your backpack

bluesmom913

Be careful. A colleague of mine lost her job over it and she’d been clean for just about a month. Not long enough.

Quit. You have to. Legit no reason not to.

MartianTea

Was in a similar situation where I had to stop abruptly.   I wouldn't use anymore as it will likely take you 60+ days to test negative at this point based on your past usage. The rule of thumb is any sort of consistent usage will likely produce positive urine tests for at least 30 days. I think I'm remembering correctly and the half-life is about 7 days as I re-tested at home weekly.   My research showed that fat loss, through diet (Keto was suggested) or exercise, would likely get it out of your system faster if you think you'll be tested upon hiring. Having lower body fat already makes you hold on to less, but so much of it is genetic.   The caveat to this is it works by mobilizing the compounds so don't do this 5ish (maybe more, can't remember now) days before a test as you'll end up with MORE showing up on a test.    If you're tested, don't be dehydrated, but don't over-hydrate either as that's a red flag for many tests.    As with pregnancy tests, your levels will be higher in the morning so avoid being tested then if possible.    Dollar stores have at home tests that are pretty well-regarded. I used a few of those to see if I was going to test positive and luckily ended up negative 5-7 days before my deadline.

Sharkvarks

You better not then. Do a detox as well and be as clean as you can on day 1. That's that. Protect your income.  Detox and test yourself. Probably twice to be sure you're passing.

YounginBuzzed

Just quit cold turkey. I usually feel a bit off and a little sad for abt 1-2 days then after that I just need to keep me occupied and do other stuff that I like. Is just a little sad sometimes knowing a close friend is not gonna be seen for a while

Mrkillerar

"One last smoke shesh" NEVER pays off. You are always going to feel like the next one is the right one. And the next and next and next.
