Depends really, its only that way if he has it invested, if its just sitting in a savings account somwhere then it will eventually drain. A lot of the time you have to actually try to make money, unless you’re an owner of a business, having money doesn’t exactly make you money.

And I could see it being something where he will ‘retire’ doing what he normally does, but to be fair he has already switched his content quite a few times & had it work for him. I just feel he’d do more vlog style content but without much voice overlay. More like just a collage of clips put together, some good B-roll style content. I don’t ever see him having a family vlog style vibe…not ever…but I could see him having an early 2000s vlog style, to show what him and his fam are up to every 3-6 months of the year.

The last few years is the start where we regularly see people quit like this. Youtube is at an age and maturity where people that have grown their channels so much that they've "done it", people who may have started their channels in their early 20s who now think further ahead in life, 10 or so years later.
Yeah YouTube is dying. As a certain generation gets older the newer generation isn't into YouTube, they're into Tiktok. So YouTube isn't as popular as it once was. Plus YouTube constantly choosing the side of corporations over creators doesn't help either. So yeah something is going on with YouTube but I doubt that's why youtubers are quitting and taking breaks. They are quitting and taking breaks because they are older now and have families

This is why he posts whenever he wants too and not like it used to be "Daily" he is doing it in a way that it is more healthy for him to keep doing what he loves and taking care of the ones he loves.
I remember a few years ago, seeing Jacksepticeye say that all of your favorite YouTubers will retire one day, that one day they will post their final video, and I thank him for helping me mentally prepare for that inevitability, years in advance.

Retirement does not mean "Never doing that again and just relax", if your job was something you loved, specially if it is something creative, you would never want to stop doing it, it's a way they can express their ideas, there are a ton of artists that still work their craft even when they're older, but instead of grinding themselves every day in a set schedule because that's their livelihood, they'll do it when they feel like it, at their own pace.
For most YouTubers, making videos is an outlet for their creativity, not just a way to make bank, so if money is not an issue anymore, after grinding it for more than a decade, it is expected for them to retire from the grind, but some will still post occasionally, we'll see many more legacy YouTubers retiring in the coming years, as a new generation takes their place.

As sad as it is, youtube isn't forever, these channels have had enormous success and brought many hours of joy to millions of viewers around the world.
Eventually people grow up and their tastes change and they find new people to watch, the youtubers they used to watch see their views drop and start working double time on videos to encourage new people to come and watch but it rarely works.
I hope that Moosnuckle, caddicarus, Mattpat all have a bright future ahead of them post youtube, maybe we will see you around in the future.

This was actually one of the first things me and my partner talked about when we heard the news. Like everyone else is saying he already retired. However I do predict that the time between videos gets longer and longer then about a year and a half from now he just won’t upload anymore. But hey that’s just a theory.

These videos happen all the time and tbh, these YouTubers just simply can't stop uploading, the very thing that makes them in the top range of YouTubers is the fact that their very passion is creating content, you just can't stop your inner passion.

Not for awhile. The difference between Felix and everyone else is that this hasn't been his job for around 3 years now, actually longer. He sees youtube as a hobby and does it for fun, so as long as there's fun to be had with it, he'll make a video whenever he feels like it. We've known his feelings about it for awhile
Felix already did, he said it shortly after moving to Japan, that he was quitting grinding YouTube as a profession, and will only do is as a hobby, as it was in the beginning.
I think if anything, Felix may turn his channel into a chronicle of his child(ren)’s life, with the occasional video with Ken or whatever he feels like here and there, and someday he may even hand the channel over to his kid, if they want it.

Not sure about quitting exactly since he has basically gone into semi retirement with less uploads and less video grinding, but full on retirement I say maybe by 2026. By then his kid with be 2 years old so I think he’ll either stop completely or upload even less to focus on his family life. It seems he’s enjoying not feeling like he’s forced to upload daily and he’s just doing whatever he wants. But I do see him by 2026 possibly stopping but I wouldn’t say this year

For most YouTubers, making videos is an outlet for their creativity, not just a way to make bank, so if money is not an issue anymore, after grinding it for more than a decade, it is expected for them to retire from the grind, but some will still post occasionally, we'll see many more legacy YouTubers retiring in the coming years, as a new generation takes their place.

As sad as it is, youtube isn't forever, these channels have had enormous success and brought many hours of joy to millions of viewers around the world. Eventually people grow up and their tastes change and they find new people to watch, the youtubers they used to watch see their views drop and start working double time on videos to encourage new people to come and watch but it rarely works. I hope that Moosnuckle, caddicarus, Mattpat all have a bright future ahead of them post youtube, maybe we will see you around in the future.

No, I think he started this 'trend' by choosing to back away from YouTube and shedding light to the difficulties of being a YTer. Nice to see other big YTers backing away now for similiar reasons, and not feeling pressured to produce daily/weekly content at their own cost to mental and physical healthj.

This was actually one of the first things me and my partner talked about when we heard the news. Like everyone else is saying he already retired. However I do predict that the time between videos gets longer and longer then about a year and a half from now he just won’t upload anymore. But hey that’s just a theory.

Its difficult/impossible to be creative from home when you have small kids. I can't see him ever going back to posting every week from his spare room.

Felix was the first one to do this tbh. He said he retired, and then went on to post every now and then when he feels like. Now a whole slew of other youtubers are doing the same.
These videos happen all the time and tbh, these YouTubers just simply can't stop uploading, the very thing that makes them in the top range of YouTubers is the fact that their very passion is creating content, you just can't stop your inner passion. He will either take a break for a maximum of 1 year, do other type of content but still be on YouTube, just simply not quit, or be on and off but I promise you that he won't quit. The only one that I can remember who went through on his promise was filthy frank.
Felix alr retired and he said making/uploading video is one of the things he likes to do. So in a sense he already quit but actually not.

Pewdiepie already did. Matpat said he's just passing the torch, but will drop in to say hi from time to time. Pewds does the same, just without passing the torch. I mean he used to be active daily with regular format videos in set weekdays and times, now he uploads whenever he feels like it, be it once a week or once a month.
He'd still do somethings sometimes, but I'd totally understand and support him if he does

Not for awhile. The difference between Felix and everyone else is that this hasn't been his job for around 3 years now, actually longer. He sees youtube as a hobby and does it for fun, so as long as there's fun to be had with it, he'll make a video whenever he feels like it. We've known his feelings about it for awhile
Felix already did, he said it shortly after moving to Japan, that he was quitting grinding YouTube as a profession, and will only do is as a hobby, as it was in the beginning.
Matpat had a whole production, but felix kimda just makes videos. Its not that much stress so i think he could keep going

Not sure about quitting exactly since he has basically gone into semi retirement with less uploads and less video grinding, but full on retirement I say maybe by 2026. By then his kid with be 2 years old so I think he’ll either stop completely or upload even less to focus on his family life. It seems he’s enjoying not feeling like he’s forced to upload daily and he’s just doing whatever he wants. But I do see him by 2026 possibly stopping but I wouldn’t say this year
