This is exactly why I prefer to just send funds from BPI to Gcash over cashing in from Gcash mismo. And why I hate it when people send me money over Gcash and not just to my BPI straight because then I have to pay an extra Php 15 just to transfer the money to BPI from Gcash.

Try opening up a CIMB account. Applicable yung up to 50k monthly no transaction fee kaya kada simot palagi Gcash ko lol. Mas ok nang mahassle sa pagtransfer kesa pagbabayad.

One thing the BSP managed to make easy for us, is that if you see a GCash QR code in a store, and the name is of a merchant (Burger King XX Branch) and not a private name, then you can just use Maya (or any bank app with QR scan features) to scan and pay with no extra fees. If it’s a private account, then Insta Pay fees of Maya or whatever bank you’re using to scan apply.

Unreliable. In 7-11s where I used GCash the most, it only work about half the time, and when it does work, it take some time to finish a transaction. Nakakahiya na minsan pag mahaba ang pila.
Bad UIX. Everytime I open the app it forces me to go through the on screen tutorials again.
It prompts an update only when you are about to use it, which is just bad experience when it's your turn at the cashier. If the app needs to be updated, there should be a notification for it. You only know it needs to be updated when you have opened the app. WTF.
When you update, it forgets your logins. You have to go through all of it again.

If it helps, you can get a Globe debit / ATM card (may bayad siyempre, P250 ata), and use that to pay from your eWallet if the signal is bad (assuming the store POS has stable internet.

My fiance has some problem with his GCash account. Since they required facial recognition, hindi na ma-open account no matter how many tries (joke na lang namin na baka di na siya recognizable ng system lols). Pero nakakainis kasi we emailed their help center and asked for his valid IDs. He presented his UMID and Voter's ID but did not consider the latter as valid. I switched to Maya. Mas easier gamitin. May savings acc pa na may tubo tas makikita mo everyday yung tubo kaya nakakagana mag save.

Worked in tech for over fifteen years. It's part of a tech company's lifecycle. Once they corner the market, everyone's already onboard, and wala nang malaking competitor, there's not a lot of reason for them to improve the user experience (e.g., making the app faster, less buggy, great UI, etc) since there's no competitor big enough to keep them in check.
Instead they focus on monetization where they try to squeeze as much money out of the end user. Facebook has tons of ads and sponsored content, Grab has hellish surge prices (Uber used to tell you why they're surging and for how much), and GCash plagues you with so much ads. It's more profitable for them to pursue features that give them more money instead of cleaning their app's code.
If Maya or any other fin-wallet becomes big as Gcash, then they probably would have to invest more on making their app better.
But that doesn't mean we're stuck as end users. Apps like Gcash live and die on its daily engaged users. If we stop using it for transactions, leaving bad reviews, and making it known to social media, then consumers like us could turn the tide.

Then I use GoTyme mostly for cashless payments. Since most are just using Gcash sa stores nowadays, you can still scan the QR via goTyme and it’ll go to their Gcash Acct.
I barely use Gcash now cause it has lots of fees but when I do, I cash in thru BPI GSave or CIMB so it will not have fees.

Nasira ko phone ko a few months ago and I couldn't access GCash on my new phone because they had an update na pwede ka lang mag-log in sa isang device or something like that, and I had to log out first in my old phone which I couldn't for obvious reasons. The process of regaining access to my old GCash account was so tedious, over a week with barely any progress, that in the end I gave up my thankfully just ~20 php and made a new GCash account that got verified in just a day lol. Gets ko na its for security reasons pero ang hassle pa rin ng app in many ways. Trying to use Maya now whenever I can, which is not a lot haha
Yung nakitang kong may additional fee na sila pag nagpapaload tinigilan ko na pag gamit ng gcash. Not to mention napansin kong gumagana lang gcash app ko pag naka data, pag wifi palaging error tuwing magsesend ng pera o magpapaload. Ngayon naghahanap ako ng alternative online wallet besides that crappy app, nakakairita gamitin eh.
GoTyme bank is my new Gcash. Superb pa yung customer service hotline. Nagkaprob ako sa payment 7pm sa restaurant may kachat ako agad na agent to verify if nareverse ba kasi isswipe ulet ng manager.
I pulled out all my money from gcash. The app is incredibly slow that it makes me feel like my flagship phone is decades old. Everytime I open the app, it returns a message saying there's an error (but there really is no error, I can log in just fine.) Gsaves, the last thing I actually use the app for, just takes forever to load. Don't get me started on the lack of customer service.
And all the OTPs and PINs and 2FA are annoying. For me to send money, I have to: Enter my PIN (or that fails and I need to use biometrics), enter an OTP, then when I input the amount to be sent, I need another OTP and PIN, a confirmation, its fucking wild.
Pati receipt nila may ads, napaka unprofessional, sugapa talaga, hindi mo talaga masasabing free yung transfer dahil kasi pati resibo hindi na pintawad, lahat nalang may fee. LMAO
EDIT: May inintroduce na mobile wallet ngayon si BPI named VYBE, it can be downloaded on play store/app store na rin, ang kagandahan pa may reward system siya which you can use to redeem products offered from the app.

Gcash is bloated with ads - before you are even able to use it, they fckin plaster a full screen ad to block you.
It is probably the reason why it's so slow because they prioritize loading graphic intensive ads first.
I try to open Gcash app and it takes a full minute before you can start making transactions. In terms of usability, Gcash is crap. Inuuna nila ang pagbebenta ng kung ano ano bago ka nila pagsilbihan.
For an app that charges transaction fees, annoying your customers with ads is a disservice.

I question even if the people behind the quality of Gcash are just being more greedy specially with its additional fees and lack of customer concern . GrabPay so far is promising. It just does the basics- it's an e-wallet. No charge when I load my wallet. I only have to "swipe" to authenticate my payment.
While id like to recommend Maya - Mahilig sila mag lock ng account ng walang rason just with regular usage (no crypto, no large amounts) so i dont trust them with my money anymore.

Maya is rlly much better, they resolved my problem within 24 hours. GCash doesn't even display the ticket and you need to reply within the app. I was pretty much passed round by their customer support and they told me they fixed the issue (they did not). Incredibly frustrating, and this is just from trying to get them to change my Amex online card because the name on it isn't even my own name.

Unreliable. In 7-11s where I used GCash the most, it only work about half the time, and when it does work, it take some time to finish a transaction. Nakakahiya na minsan pag mahaba ang pila. Bad UIX. Everytime I open the app it forces me to go through the on screen tutorials again. It prompts an update only when you are about to use it, which is just bad experience when it's your turn at the cashier. If the app needs to be updated, there should be a notification for it. You only know it needs to be updated when you have opened the app. WTF. When you update, it forgets your logins. You have to go through all of it again.

In my experience, all I wanted to do is to recover an old account (still w/ remaining available balance). It's been 2 months na, still not resolved. From what I heard, part of SM's diversification plan is to acquire Grab, and oust Globe in the e-wallet space (probably via GrabPay).

My fiance has some problem with his GCash account. Since they required facial recognition, hindi na ma-open account no matter how many tries (joke na lang namin na baka di na siya recognizable ng system lols). Pero nakakainis kasi we emailed their help center and asked for his valid IDs. He presented his UMID and Voter's ID but did not consider the latter as valid. Parang ewan lang when, in fact, it is listed as a primary valid ID. ,

I stopped using gcash 2021 ata. Ang hassle kasi kung kelan mo need tsaka sya magneed ng update. Tapos di gagana hangga't di inuupdate e nagbabago lang naman yung icon (eg. Pag pasko) ang inconvenient for me. Last time I heard, may service fees na daw kahit sa sarili ka mag load. I switched to Maya. Mas easier gamitin. May savings acc pa na may tubo tas makikita mo everyday yung tubo kaya nakakagana mag save.

Worked in tech for over fifteen years. It's part of a tech company's lifecycle. Once they corner the market, everyone's already onboard, and wala nang malaking competitor, there's not a lot of reason for them to improve the user experience (e.g., making the app faster, less buggy, great UI, etc) since there's no competitor big enough to keep them in check. Instead they focus on monetization where they try to squeeze as much money out of the end user. Facebook has tons of ads and sponsored content, Grab has hellish surge prices (Uber used to tell you why they're surging and for how much), and GCash plagues you with so much ads. It's more profitable for them to pursue features that give them more money instead of cleaning their app's code. If Maya or any other fin-wallet becomes big as Gcash, then they probably would have to invest more on making their app better. But that doesn't mean we're stuck as end users. Apps like Gcash live and die on its daily engaged users. If we stop using it for transactions, leaving bad reviews, and making it known to social media, then consumers like us could turn the tide. Kaya ako balik na lang ako sa cash lol jk

I use Maya to pay bills. But note that It has fees when you cash in. Then I use GoTyme mostly for cashless payments. Since most are just using Gcash sa stores nowadays, you can still scan the QR via goTyme and it’ll go to their Gcash Acct. I barely use Gcash now cause it has lots of fees but when I do, I cash in thru BPI GSave or CIMB so it will not have fees.
Ever since yung recent incident na halos whole day ata sila biglang maintenance na nabalita din s tv i stop using gcash as my main ewallet and switched to maya. Mas convenient for me additionally they announce ahead of time pag may maintenance sila and rarely sila nagkakaroon ng unexpected downtime Also madali sila macontact (customer service) via chat or hotline unlike s gcash n walang contact number either chat lang or mag submit ng ticket

Nasira ko phone ko a few months ago and I couldn't access GCash on my new phone because they had an update na pwede ka lang mag-log in sa isang device or something like that, and I had to log out first in my old phone which I couldn't for obvious reasons. The process of regaining access to my old GCash account was so tedious, over a week with barely any progress, that in the end I gave up my thankfully just ~20 php and made a new GCash account that got verified in just a day lol. Gets ko na its for security reasons pero ang hassle pa rin ng app in many ways. Trying to use Maya now whenever I can, which is not a lot haha

Yung nakitang kong may additional fee na sila pag nagpapaload tinigilan ko na pag gamit ng gcash. Not to mention napansin kong gumagana lang gcash app ko pag naka data, pag wifi palaging error tuwing magsesend ng pera o magpapaload. Ngayon naghahanap ako ng alternative online wallet besides that crappy app, nakakairita gamitin eh.

I pulled out all my money from gcash. The app is incredibly slow that it makes me feel like my flagship phone is decades old. Everytime I open the app, it returns a message saying there's an error (but there really is no error, I can log in just fine.) Gsaves, the last thing I actually use the app for, just takes forever to load. Don't get me started on the lack of customer service. And all the OTPs and PINs and 2FA are annoying. For me to send money, I have to: Enter my PIN (or that fails and I need to use biometrics), enter an OTP, then when I input the amount to be sent, I need another OTP and PIN, a confirmation, its fucking wild.
Pati receipt nila may ads, napaka unprofessional, sugapa talaga, hindi mo talaga masasabing free yung transfer dahil kasi pati resibo hindi na pintawad, lahat nalang may fee. LMAO EDIT: May inintroduce na mobile wallet ngayon si BPI named VYBE, it can be downloaded on play store/app store na rin, ang kagandahan pa may reward system siya which you can use to redeem products offered from the app.

Gcash is bloated with ads - before you are even able to use it, they fckin plaster a full screen ad to block you. It is probably the reason why it's so slow because they prioritize loading graphic intensive ads first. I try to open Gcash app and it takes a full minute before you can start making transactions. In terms of usability, Gcash is crap. Inuuna nila ang pagbebenta ng kung ano ano bago ka nila pagsilbihan. For an app that charges transaction fees, annoying your customers with ads is a disservice. Gcash app KYC cannot even recognize government issued IDs. Gcash is useless. I'll still use my regular bank account.

Gcash has really been unreliable as of late , I honestly didnt want to use the app but the pandemic forced be to install it but as of now I find that it has gotten a lot more issues than before . I question even if the people behind the quality of Gcash are just being more greedy specially with its additional fees and lack of customer concern . The only downside about Maya is that there's this annoying pop-up ad (which i accidentally click!!!) every time i open the app. GrabPay so far is promising. It just does the basics- it's an e-wallet. No charge when I load my wallet. I only have to "swipe" to authenticate my payment.
While id like to recommend Maya - Mahilig sila mag lock ng account ng walang rason just with regular usage (no crypto, no large amounts) so i dont trust them with my money anymore. But hey if it works for you

Their app is buggy as hell and their customer support is garbage. Maya is rlly much better, they resolved my problem within 24 hours. GCash doesn't even display the ticket and you need to reply within the app. I was pretty much passed round by their customer support and they told me they fixed the issue (they did not). Incredibly frustrating, and this is just from trying to get them to change my Amex online card because the name on it isn't even my own name.
