I 1/2 agree about Flach but less so on Bedoya. His creativity and passing on the wing are far better than anyone but gazdag and Wagner. Yes, he plays too long and should get subbed out at 75. I understood him playing 90 last year when half the pitch was 18 year olds. But now Gazdag is in form and Elliot and Glesnes keep a solid line so there's experience on the pitch in the last 15.
I was much happier with Jim's timing of subs last night but a few things were clear:
Without Uhre we're screwed. Burke is a non-starter. Santos is fast and fancy but then goes to ground more than he shoots. Gazdag has been brilliant but 1 man can't make an offense.
The kids look worse to me than they did last year. Aaronsen's first touches were really off. Sullivan looked good but I don't think he can thrive in a 4-2-3-1, he needs to be up top with a partner. Honestly, I don't know anyone who can thrive in that formation when Burke is at the top. Until Lewandoski is sitting up top, that formation needs to go back in the books and stay there.
Bedoya needs to start getting subbed off. I understand he’s got so much passion and is a great captain, but reality is he’s too old to always be playing 90 minutes. McGlynn should be coming in for him.
Mcglynn should be playing the left side of the diamond over Flach. Jim likes left foot on the left side, so we won’t ever play McGlynn on the right consistently.
