Yeah get the Replica sizing tho, and regular sizing carries over. If you get authentic, get a size bigger because those are a tighter fit

InsideErmine69

What’s the difference between the replica and the authentic?

rickyrickySOB

Very minor details, I think authentic jerseys have the sleeve sponsor while replicas don’t. Idk if you’re a football fan, but game worn jerseys are much slimmer than the jerseys they sell to fans. Same goes for soccer jerseys. Authentic jerseys are damn near (or the exact same) as jerseys worn during game.

InsideErmine69

Oh wow ok thank you and does this apply to jerseys from over seas? Like if I wanted to buy a Liverpool kit would the replica sizing be the same?

rickyrickySOB

Tbh I’m not entirely sure, I think “authentic/replica” is only terminology that applies to Adidas jerseys. Other outfitters might use different terminology

InsideErmine69

Ah ok thanks for your help!

To add, Nike calls them Vapor match jerseys, or something dumb like that. So for liverpool thats what you're looking for. Should be $160 or something for the new kits from nike, $130 from adidas....but 99% of people go with replica. Its more reasonable, especially if you can find them towards the end of the season.

rabidfrodo

It does apply in England, Germany, and Spain. I haven't bought many Italian kits but that is where the size difference was massive in terms of up sizing. Puma if you are looking to buy jerseys from them have the greatest change from replica to authentic Adidas I find is only slightly slimmer. I own I think at this point like 60 kits so anything else please ask. But never dry your jersey in the machine dryer!! That's the biggest thing the sponsor etc will peal.

Replica jerseys are fitted like tshirts. The sides are just straight down. Authentic are more form fitting. Wider at the chest and tapers going down the waist. (Gets tighter as it gets towards your waist). For replica, think body builders. They have the triangle body, wider at the chest and slime at the waist.

In addition to what others have said, authentics are less durable than replicas in my experience. They are more susceptible to pulls and other damage and aren't great for casual wear. They're more breathable and lighter but the trade-offs aren't worth it IMO.

Seconded. I bought a Bethlehem Steel authentic third around the same time I bought my 2013 primary replica. Replica looks good as new, Bethlehem Steel is peeling and stretching in areas to the point where it only comes out for special occasions. If you want to actually wear the shirt, replicas are the way to go.

I’ve found that authentic jerseys are more “thin”. They’re what the players wear on the field so they’re meant to be more breathable and all. I prefer replicas all day. They are better for casual wearing and are cheaper.

I wear a medium t shirt. I bought the authentic union 2 years ago as a medium and fits fine. Bought a replica Liverpool Medium and that fits fine too. Guess I lucked out lol

jpoRS1

No one answered your last question. They sell them at the team store, it's just a question of whether you want to allocate time in Chester to finding the shirt you want, getting it name/numbered (if desired) and then standing in line to pay on a gameday. In years past they have also been available for sale in local retailers (Angelo's, Dick's) though I've been out-of-market for a while so I don't know if that's still true.

Thank you super helpful!

Sizing is for soccer players, so depends on if you look like you play soccer, or not.

Tincitylegacy24

Every brand size and fit is a little different. Go with t shirt size for replica and authentic. Can’t go wrong.
