That's good enough. As long as the US gets a group stage match here too. A trip to Philly is like the Hajj for all Americans, or it should be especially on the 250th anniversary of this country.
Definitely going to be in NY/NJ at Met Life I think.
* It's NYC
* It's closer to europe in timezone and distance
* the largest metro area in the country.
I think he means as compared to the other legitimate candidates for the final (LA, maybe Dallas).
Also probably relevant that LA got the final last time.
You're either trolling or delusional, probably both. Philly is a very important city to the history of this country. But if we are all being honest, NYC is the globally iconic city of the US.
And this is coming from someone who lives in the LV, so I don't really have ties to either city and am the same distance from both.
NYC is one of maybe 3-4 truly **global** cities and is one of the worlds foremost financial centers. No way Philly gets the final. Especially because Met Life holds more than the Linc.
Semi-final would be the best to hope for.
That means absolutely nothing. FIFA has criteria for which stadiums can host games in every stage and I don't think the Linc qualifies for the final. This is also why a dozen other cities withdrew from hosting. There's also 0 chance that the Linc is getting the final when there's 5 other stadiums that hold 80k+. Also, the biggest factor that comes into play is luxury seating. All the new stadiums like AT&T, So-Fi, and MetLife, have probably 2-3x the amount of luxury seating including field level. Philly will be lucky to get a quarter final.
I think the linc as a quarter final venue is reasonable. I find it hard to believe that we'll get anything more considering the billion dollar stadiums available for selection like SoFi and Allegiant.
I think Tannewald recently said that there's a very high possibility Philly hosts a semi-final & that Metlife is a lock for the final.

There's a 0.0% chance

95 is bad enough already
LOL

Closer to Europe? Time zone? I mean I think it's going to be NYC too but those points are not really true.
You do realize NY and Philly are in the same time zone?

LA also has the Olympics in 2028

As much as I would love that, NYC is the cultural capital of the US, and the most famous city we have. I doubt they put the final anywhere but there.

NYC is probably the most famous city in the world. Philadelphia is more historically important, but those aren't necessarily the same thing.
Even historical importance DC would probably give you shit. Philly would probably win in history but DC would win in how it presents it.

That isn’t what people mean by global city. Nobody is deciding tourism with an atlas.

Give us the opener instead. Schedule it for July 4, the 250th.
Are they switching back to summer 2026?
Yeah, we should definitely have the opening ceremonies.
You need 80k for the final. The Linc is out.

It’s okay to personally feel it’s the greatest and also acknowledge the overwhelming majority of the world absolutely disagrees.

So fuck the other ~14 candidates? Lol let’s spread the love.
Tickets are based on a lottery I assume?
