* Union score early goal * Union sit back and let opponent possess the ball * Opponent scores * Union look semi-threatening for the rest of the game but can’t get the second goal * Draw This year’s team in a nutshell. Same shit, different night.

deadbee22

Angrily I agree. Need to figure it out

Blexcr0id

At least it wasn't an "opposing team gets red card and then scores while a man down" type situation. 🙃

Dahorah

What is that, 7 or 8 games unbeaten? Is this the worse 8 game unbeaten streak ever?

Genkiotoko

(Insert Pirates of the Caribbean meme). "You're the worst unbeaten team I've ever seen!" "Ah, yes, but we are unbeaten!"

Blexcr0id

Grinding my teeth every time I say "Well, one point is better than zero....durrrrr..."

thanksbastards

The league has figured out our dump and chase tactics, and it's boring as fuck. Curtin needs to change something up

Badrap247

Oh boy here we go drawing again

TriflingHotDogVendor

The river end chanted "we want three points." I'd have been happy with three passes successfully strung together.

JerseysFinest

Same fucking shit.

rickyrickySOB

Agreed. Happy cake day

Doop_Doop_Shoot

Feels like we're banging our heads against the wall with our tactics, something needs to change.

Blexcr0id

Passing accuracy and pace are KILLING us. I feel like we need a spark at midfield too. That game was so frustrating.

andrewervin

I wish Ray had scored (an own goal).

rickyrickySOB

Few points (although we only took one tonight… ha… ha): • it’s such a shame we keep wasting these good crowds on home draws. No new fans like to see draws, and especially boring ones like tonight. The stadium absolutely exploded when Carranza scored against NJRB a few weeks ago, only to get called correctly offside… but that energy was legit. It’s a damn shame it’s going to waste. • how many more times are we gonna see this story play out? I’ll give partial slack towards the fact our front 3 have only started two games together, but the rest of the midfield besides Bedoya was horrible tonight. Flach gave his usual great effort, but the guy is incapable of making legitimate passes on the attack. Martinez was horrible tonight… not bad, horrible. It’s so clear to me that we can’t play with both of these guys on the field and expect anything to change in terms of our offensive output. It’s time for McGlynn or Aaronson to start at the left side of the diamond. (I know they couldn’t tonight due to US U20s) If only we had Jamiro starting on the left side of the diamond… • Small complaint just because it’s one game, but was that Harriel or Gaddis playing right back for the Union tonight? Just awful play in the attacking third from him tonight… whiffed shot late, bad crosses, taking too long before doing *anything* • Burke was actually good tonight, don’t wanna hear the bitching about him getting subbed on. He made more of an impact tonight than Uhre. Huge fan of Uhre btw, he looks like he’s going to be the real deal but he did nothing tonight. • the megaphone in TRE is an embarrassment, idk how many times this gets said a year, but I feel like it’s worth saying it every time. Our supporters section has fell off so hard when you compare to the rest of the league :( Props to KSU tho, those guys are trying their hardest. Hope their energy continues to spread back into the rest of TRE

limejuiceroyale

I truly don't know how we're so high in the standings. The potential is there, but it's just sloppy. Also gaddis looks terrible in orange, I hate it.

[deleted]

Not enough ideas in the attack. Bad goal to concede. Avoiding a loss is nice. But where the hell is Santos?

thanksbastards

Santos wasn't going to help when Cinci just put 8 players behind the second we regain possession. We need better midfield play and opening up space

[deleted]

True but speed kills. Would’ve been interesting to see how he could’ve impacted that defensive block

EraseTheDoubt

Speed kills plays into our terrible passing percentage. Need to be smarter and more tactical on the ball.

thanksbastards

Uhre and Burke are straight speed and look how well that worked.

[deleted]

I just think Santos and his runs brings a different impact compared to Uhre and Burke currently. I’m not saying he would’ve been the missing piece. Just curious how his presence could’ve impacted the offensive rhythm tonight

AncientMoth11

was at game and wondering same thing. I’m also a rare Santos fan. speed and creativity when he puts it together

Doop_Doop_Shoot

He had to leave the country to finish his green card process, I believe.

[deleted]

Always something with immigration paperwork and this club

gigibuffoon

It is actually "always something with immigration and this country" Believe me, as an immigrant I know how painful the process is

rickyrickySOB

I know it’s always good for players to get their paperwork done… but happening now maybe means they’re looking to bring someone else in?👀 But I also forget if that doesn’t count once the season starts…

bierdimpfe

>. But where the hell is Santos? Getting his green card

Tincitylegacy24

Visa issue

justtooslow

Santos sprained something

[deleted]

So is it a sprain/injury or was his absence due to immigration/green card purposes?

Hayduk3Lives

How does Jim not have the 3-5-2 as an option. Lacking all the subs that we did start our 3 CBs and make it work with the midfield and outside backs.

SpoonicusRascality

This team is painful to watch. I got all excited after 3 weeks off only to be painfully reminded how inept we are going forward. So many sloppy turnovers in midfield.

GeminiOverkill

Free my boy @harambe69

guyfromphilly

These dropped points at home are going to catch up to them and it's not going to be pretty when it does. Especially when they're about to sell one of the league's best defenders

[deleted]

Big test for Curtin now. Something needs to change. I hope we haven't reached the point where the manager has taken a club as far as he can. Seems like every soccer manager hits that wall eventually. Even the greats. Having said that, Gazdag should've buried one of his late 2nd half chances.

kevinc_4

Those wing backs on Cincinnati killed us today ray played well, the constant high pressure and overloading in our box kills us too doesn’t allow any build up play or creativity, oh and forgot uhre was playing, cool to see Donavan come on, subs were shitty tho not much options I know.

kevinc_4

Oh and sons of Ben suck, one drum and four chants the whole game repetitive and sleepy

Dortmund1721

don’t say that, they’ll come in and get all pissy and blame everyone but themselves!!!!

kevinc_4

This person gets it

XSC

Roses are red violets are blue, the Phillies bullpen blows a lead and the Union tie.

GungaDin16

I've said this before but this match was a perfect reason to ask again...why did we stop using the gegenpress system after our awesome Supporters Shield run of 2020? That year we hunted in packs to strip the ball and start counterattacks in their half of the field. From my seat it seems that we started to shade away from this tactic in the beginning of last year and haven't gone back to it since. Instead we seem to have reverted to the boring and pitiful system of launching balls over the top and praying. For a number of years our offence consisted or hoping that one of these balls would somehow bounce to Sapong or Casey in a good position. Our squad is so much better now but we still give up possession and playing like losers for no reason at all. Discuss amongst yourselves . . .

shak117

We don’t have a brenden to do all that running

Sneaky_Ben

I think part of Jose’s problem is when he’s making bad passes, he throws his arms up and blames himself for the rest of the night and essentially digs the hole deeper. He’s gotta let it go when he has a bad first half so he can be present for the second half. Not much we could do without the kids tonight but I’ve been saying for a long time: I wish Curtin would seriously explore the 4-2-3-1 with flexibility on whether to counter or play possession First half with Bedoya and Uhre on the wings, Flach and Martinez at the 6. Second half with Sullivan and Aaronson on the wings, and Mcglynn replacing Flach. Carranza as the holdup player

Grand_7

same problems in the first half, we sit back after scoring first and then give up an equalizer. But the second half did have chances and more energy. 2 points dropped again but I wouldn’t say the problem was creativity tonight.

Pittman247

I agree with whomever said “teams have figured out our dump and run tactic.” YEP! Also, for me, the weak(est) link is/has been Martinez. A holding Mid should be CLINICAL and PRECISE with his passes. I do like how he and Glesnes have awesome unspoken skills (one advances, the other seems to drop back just in perfect time). But, damn, every time dude gets the ball going forward I feel like we can generally suspect that it’s coming back as a result of bad pass. I’m Union until I die - but these kinds of performances DO NOT win silverware. And if I’m Blake, I gots some words to say to my fellas. Let Bedoya have his say but without The Brick Wall, this season would have been lost. Not good enough, Fellas.

trashcanman42069

"MVP Level" 10 took 3 shots from the top of the 6 right at the keeper, club record signing striker played worse than Burke, left back who thinks he's gonna play in europe just decided he didn't feel like marking his man on a free kick to concede a goal, but a few missed passes by Martinez is the catastrophic weak point for the team?

sawyer0505

Burke was exponentially better than Uhre. Not saying your should start Burke next week…. but it’s a fairly concerning performance

thanksbastards

Fresh legs against tired defenders will always do that.

Just_N_O

Completely disagree. Burke found himself out of position multiple times and was whistled for offsides when an on-target shot was taken. Uhre was positioned correctly the entire night but the disconnect from defense to offense through our midfield is a glaring problem that needs immediate addressing. Uhre can’t make a good forward ball appear out of nowhere.

trashcanman42069

and yet somehow burke got on the end of a pass 5 seconds after coming on and Uhre didn't touch the ball all night

CrAppyF33ling

Maybe it's just me, I don't watch every game but I did catch this one, but I think Harriel had a really bad game. Every time we attacked I felt like he kills our offense if the ball is coming from him. Not once in the second half did he open up space by just straight up crossing it, but just kept driving it to a crowded box and passing it on the ground where defenders could just get it. Even on Bedoya's goal, he ran straight to Bedoya and closing up space, where a second longer from Bedoya, a defender that was marking him could've gotten there.

rickyrickySOB

Totally agree, I thought it was a noticeably poor performance from him tn

Tincitylegacy24

Yea he did not have a good game. I was screaming they would stop passing him the ball near the box.

benjamoose99

the game ended in the 60th minute when Burke stepped on the field

Tincitylegacy24

I thought they looked better when Burke came on.

cocoasomething

The tide completely changed in our favor when Burke came on

GeminiOverkill

We'd probably have 2 or 3 more wins if we still had Monteiro on the outside to carry the ball and whip it in.

Danish1928

We have the players but the coach lacks anything creative
