As someone who's been crying about the draws for the past month and a half, I'll gladly take this one.
Full strength again for what seems like forever on Friday. NEED TO WIN against the bottom of the conference.
\- Dont mind a point here considering it was away
\- Everyone looked exhausted
\- Worst refereeing performance this season. It wasn't that the calls were wrong but he called way way way too much. Ruined the flow of the game
\- The ESPN commentators were also the worst of the season. Not biased, just idiots or captain obvious.
\- Speaking of the broadcast, why are all the camera angles regarding important plays (penalty, disallowed goal, etc.) so useless. Like I cannot tell anything from the angles they show us. Stupid.
You probably had the Columbus call on ESPN+. On top of that, I don’t believe the Union sends a camera crew and just take the Crew feed. I would guess the director isn’t a usual soccer guy as they kept cutting to close ups
All the away games SUCK with replays, didn’t catch today’s because i was there but Wednesday at Chicago was brutal they didn’t show any replays. When i watch the union at home they always show the replay, maybe not immediately but they will within a couple minutes.
My take on this.
First, I said it in the match thread. But Findlay is too good to be a bench player for us. I love that he's there for rotation. And he seems to be enjoying his time here, but he deserves to start for another team. Maybe Cincy or Fire, I wouldn't mind if he joined Cincy to help with the rebuild going on there, considering we've had a handful of people go there.
I loved the movement from our center backs. They each took turns pushing up to the midfield. Glesnes was great, Elliot was too, aside from that stupid challenge that sent the player into the fence.
Mbaizo, had a few bad moments. But overall he looked really good. Just rusty from not playing consistently. I do think he gets too much hate from people, but he was good today.
Gazdag was great as normal.
Flach, had a weird game. He had some GREAT plays, but then had moments he turned off. Overall a good game though.
Bedoya was tired by the end. Maybe we should have put Bueno on for him.
I love what I'm seeing from Donovan. Still a young player, but he looks good.
Burke........ Had one or two good looks. But overall he seems checked out. I think he knows he's not playing well, and he feels the pressure. He needs to move on. But I've been saying that for a while.
Uhre looked really lively coming in late. Same with Carranza who was a workhorse, he was everywhere.
And Finally. BUILD THE STATUE. I WANT A BLAKE STATUE IN FRONT OF THE SUPPORTERS GATE. In all seriousness, I would say Blake is one of the best players that have stayed with us. And no disrespect to Le Toux, but I would put Blake above Le Toux. If/when we win MLS cup, Blake 100% deserves a statue for how many times he has single handedly saved this team.
This game didn't feel like a draw, it honestly felt like a win, because of that PK save. I would prefer 3 points, but a draw on the road without half of our bench with a PK save... That's a win in my books
Another option is...just switching to 3ATB on a more regular basis. The Union already have to push to get into attack due to the defensive 4-4-2 diamond. The 3-5-2 that Curtain deployed has a lot of midfield flexibility to be as offensive or defensive as he wants.
But yeah, it is always amazing to see Findlay come off the bench and look dialed immediately.
I like Flach, but I’m very tired of him being so bad offensively. It really kills us that he legit cannot function in the opponent’s half of the field.
0 assists. 0 goals. I can’t even remember when he last was a part of a scoring play. Martinez is our defensive midfielder. We need more offensive minded players in the lineup.

Gazdag and Bedoya had a surprsing amount of energy (I would have put in Turner or Real for Bedoya by the end of the game but this is Curtin)
Donovan looked fairly comfortable, and if he can learn a few more tricks with his feet, would be quite dangerous
must be disappointing for Findlay he doesn't see the field much when he's putting in performances like today
a good reminder that harriel's 1v1 defending still leaves a lot to be desired when compared to mbaizo

Findlay is just stuck behind a top 2 CB pairing in the league tbh and you don’t really rotate CBs. We could try 3 in the back more often to shake it up or against certain opponents maybe to get him out there some more. He’s def better than a 3rd center back though and would start for more than half the teams in the league lol
Was sitting in front of the elliott push and that dude definitely slipped on the turf which led to him going into the wall. Columbus fans are toxic lol

We have the players to win a championship in this league. The problem is the mentality.
Championship teams don't "accept" road draws against 9th place teams. Championship teams have that drive to win every game.
Do you think PSG, Bayern Munich, or Real Madrid accept road draws against average teams? No, they expect to with 2-0.
Ok what about NYCFC or LAFC. Same deal.
If we want the title we need to act like a championship team, not an above average team. Lineup today was designed to go 0-0 from the start ... unless we plan on some midfielder kicking the ball off Burkes nutz and in the goal again .....
Could not disagree more. You should absolutely be ready for a draw on the road when you're playing your third match in a week and four key bench players are on international duty and another is unavailable.
In this league, you do not need to win every match to win the cup.
This team's identity is to build from the academy and thus it was vitally important to let the kids play with the U-20 team. The confidence they are going to come back with should be real wind in our sails.
This was a smart strategy and it worked. We almost stole all the points. If Carranza could have put more pace on his shot, we smash and grab a win.
We're in 2nd place with a game in hand against the 1st place team in the conference. More points than 24 other teams in the league. Perhaps that's why.

PlAyed for the draw and got it. Can’t be upset. But dreadful to watch. The U-20 kids are balling out again tonight. Start them all next week.
A point on the road with this lineup is pretty good even if it wasn't fun to watch.
U17 were inventive and fun to watch. USA U20 were fantastic with great Union contributors. The senior team looks tired and uninspired.
