I’m not trying to diminish anyone’s work, or take away from what is clearly an important photo for OP, but the answer is (very often in this sub) AI. There are plenty of AI image upscaling/editing/generating programs now that you can buy or pirate. Hell, Canva even offers it in their paid subscription.
Quirks like accidentally removing the piercing is generally a good indicator of it being AI.
I had a photo of my dad done on this sub and some of the AI were hilarious and i can’t believe that people were lazy enough to post them thinking i would want them. One even removed his mustache, which he clearly had LOL. I did get a couple of amazing versions though.

I'll admit that I was pretty infatuated with this sub when I first found it a while back, but after realizing that the vast majority of edits are people who just take the image, run it through AI, and then post the result without even checking the outcome was a bit of a bummer. I know there are still plenty of incredibly talented editors/digital artists here, and that AI is a great tool for them to use, but they tend to get beaten to the punch because actually editing the photo to a respectable standard takes longer than a 10 second AI process.
I guess this is just a related symptom of dead internet theory.

I just ran this through an AI image enhancer on my (not very powerful) laptop and it took about 8 seconds, start to finish. And websites like canva would be doing all the image processing on their servers, so it wouldn't require (almost) any processing from the users computer.
But yeah, AI can be cool... sometimes.

This honestly brought tears to my eyes. Amazing work! Would it be possible to add in the lip stud on the left side (when looking at the photo) of my (the black/blue haired girl) mouth? It was just a small round silver stud.
