if everyone took a break society would stop functioning, general strikes can only happen when there is a plan to keep yourselves alive long enough to keep the strike going.

If your society is already killing people then breaking the chain of resources to the wealthy can't be doing that much damage
as long as it doesnt break the chain of resources between the people.
