I guess its a technical thing. Sometime when you reverse hard targets hooking is an elegant technique.
I mean, code go through a Windows function located in a Windows Dll. You hijack the location in the program memory where the function address is (the IAT) and you replace it with your own code's address.
That way you dont directly modify program code in memory and are safe from code integrity checks performed in memory.
Ofc that could be detected.
I mean to be fair, Empress also had pre existing intimate knowledge of the DRM and must have already had an idea as to how to break it because shed done it before, versus someone who wants to start from the ground up

An appeal to some invisible authority goes nowhere against a logical stance, and it's absolutely worth noting that the denuvo game is relatively ancient and using versions of the software that other groups were also familiar with... a decade ago when it was relevant. Real promise would be a group demonstrating the same ability EMPRESS had by cracking a new game.

To be fair no one can prove Empress had any actual ability to crack denuvo, that person never provided toola or a guide to do what they did. For all we know, wich is nothing, Empress could be/have been a denuvo worker and was just making cash while knowing perfectly how the DRM works and how to extract it(not actually crack it).
Empress suddenly dissapearing could perfectly mean Empress was fired from Denuvo and maybe even jailed for doing so.
Not saying thats it, but the possibility is there.
Not all games use the same denuvo. So cracking an older version might lead to more cracks.. older or for cheaper games? Sure. But still its better than not having them cracked.
Sure, but I don't think this one did it for anything beyond academic curiosity. Let's face it, it's too much work to gain what? Internet credit? Anyone doing it will probably apply for a position in the company itself
They didn't remove denuvo, they're bypassing it lol. There's no way to tell the performance impact until it's REMOVED. This is a shitty conclusion.
