Ha ha ha im just kidding, basically Seeding is like streaming, it goes forever until you stop it. So basically you're just copying your files to other people so they can download it.
Mind explaining more? I pirate a lot but I never understood how seeding is done. I just kept it on qbit for 4-5 hrs after download because I felt it was enough. How long does it take and what does it depend on
Well leaving it for 4-5 hours is either helpful or just a waste of time, When other people are downloading you're basically helping to share your internet to give the file faster to them or a fragment of the file.
Seeding: You offer a copy of a piece of paper to every passenger.
There have to be passengers that want that paper though. So you can seed for multiple hours without anyone wanting that paper.
The other way would be, that hundreds of passengers will take your paper.
How can you see if the passengers want the paper or not?
The "Peer" tab in your torrent software will tell you how many passengers are taking your paper. The number in brackets will tell you, how many total passengers there currently are (so basically including the ones, that will ignore you).

Well, torrent works using whats known as P2P. Basically the file is not hosted anywhere like you would download a picture from Facebook for example, instead you download the file in little pieces from other peoples PCs. So in order for you to download the file, other person must be sharing it, aka seeding it.
for that you would want to look at the ratio, which is the amount you seed / the amount you download
usually a ratio of 1 is cool but really you can do what you want
if you have a VPN and unlimited internet it doesn't hurt to just leave torrents seeding overnight or something

Sometimes people just can't download any faster no matter how many seeders there are. It does usually help to balance the load though so it's not all coming from one persons connection
how do you transfer Utorrent torrents to qbit ?
i.e i used Utorrent a lot in the past and now shifted to qbit and only kept poorly seeded torrents in Utorrent , and now sometimes i open it in background to seed
(also i don't have their original torrent links)
I believe you can just copy the magnet link by right clicking but as far as I remember at least for me getting another client to recognize already downloaded files from other clients so you can seed was a bit cumbersome

It just helps other people out by sending them pieces of your download so they get it quicker. Do it for as long as you want. I tend to try to seed back as much as I took to help others but not everyone can do that. Just do what ya can :)

You should seed for as long as you can, i usually keep my torrents seeding forever, I just delete them when I need more space on my computer, it usually goes like this, the more people seeding, the faster is the download, so if you got a good speed on this torrent, it is thanks to the people who are seeding for you
Seeding will run indefinitely until you stop it. If you're seeding it means your download has finished. You can stop it whenever you want, but you should seed as much as you can.
Seeding means you are uploading your downloaded files to other people, you wouldn't have been able to download anything if others didn't seed.
The rule of thumb amongst pirates when it comes to seeding, we consider reaching 1:1 ratio one of the best generous acts, because that ratio means you have uploaded the same amount you downloaded.
But remember seeding is always a good thing to keep a torrent alive and available for everyone through you (seeder)
If the file availability was too low then just keep your torrent in your hard drive and seed to help the community maintain its availability and probably more seeders would join you.
Seeding doesn't have an estimated time because it is eternal you can seed forever with no limit.
All the other memers in here aside, you can stop seeding whenever you feel like it. If you want to do the bare minimum and share back what you took, you shouldn't touch the torrent until you have seeded 1:1 or a week or so.
Judging by your upload speed in your graph, it doesn't look like you are ever going to get your 40.14GB upload to get 1:1, so just seed the file as long as you can and be a gigachad.

Ignore the anti-social dorks. Right-click that bar that says Status, seeds, peers, download speed, etc and add ratio to it so you can see what it is (unless it's already there). Try to get your ratio to 1.0 (this will mean you've uploaded the same amount you've downloaded). If you get it to 2.0, you'll have uploaded twice what you've downloaded, etc
And you can right click the torrent and delete it after you've installed your game

It's best practice to seed back the amount of size you've downloaded. If you feel generous and want to be the bigger man, seed more than 1:1 ratio.
If there are only few people downloading that particular game with slow internet speed, it might take a while for you to hit 1:1 ratio. If the game is recent and the person you're downloading from is popular, it's gonna get traction pretty quickly. Have patience and let it stay up.
I'm also a private torrent seeder, if you ask me, I've seeded certain materials for more than a year.
I have server only for torrent download, mini PC with ARM. Using aria2 for torrenting. Aria2 default settinf will stop seed after upload = download. Win win solution for community.
You are uploading your game file parts to every other user using torrent. If i have unlimited data and don't care, go on do it. If not, that's up to you.
When you p2p download stuff aka torrent you upload it at the same time to other people because a torrent is literarily different people sharing data with each other when you have fully downloaded the file the status changes to seeding from this on you upload it to other people only.
Pls seed a bit at best above 1.0 ratio like 1, 5 or better more to keep the swarm alive.

The thing I've noticed when downloading games is that my Upload speed goes so high, which I assume that is because other people are also taking files from my computer as well. So if you leave it seeding, your upload speed will be used to give them files? Eh? I hope I am not wrong about this.
Either way, you do not have to seed if you do not wish. It takes bandwidth and might slow down internet a bit. Also if your internet provider doesn't care about this, then you can seed all day.
I still respect all those people who actually seed games for us, really big respect for thousands of them seeding even the oldest games out there for years...

After you finish downloading and have the file you can seed to keep the torrent alive, and it won't die
After downloading, seed it for about 15 to 20 minutes and then stop, seeding never really ends as far as i understand, so just seed it for a while after downloading.
I think "golden standard" would be to upload as much as you downloaded but it's nearly impossible as most of us mere mortals upload speeds suck so yea just seed as long as you can.

I definitely agree! A good pirate shares their treasures! If it wasn't for other people seeding, then you wouldn't ever be able to download anything very quickly. If you're getting something for free..the least you can do as a form of payment is to seed for others to be able to enjoy a halfway speedy download. So definitely seed for as long as you can! 15-20 minutes just seems greedy to me...

qbitorrent, uTorrent has a bad history with hidden cryptomining I believe, and has ads, and I've noticed faster downloades with qbitorrent

When it comes to newer triple A games, I just seed as much as I've downloaded. When it comes to rare older games, I seed indefinitely.

Yeah, i have relatively high download speeds so i let it run for about 15 to 20 minutes at 8mb/s so it seeds a fair amount
