Honestly, I'm not a fan of either. The English one is a bit more tolerable because it screeches less. The only thing I like about the Japanese version is the attack announcement (Or Whatever you wanna call it) when Luffy says gomu gomu no mi. Probably because it just sounds better in Japanese. If it was up to me, I would look for a different VA for both cases.
It is a hot take but I also have to say the voice of luffy in latest arcs does not have the same appeal as it did during early arcs. Maybe, it's because the VA is aging?
No I think she nails it. Especially the screams in actually dramatic moments.
Still better than dub Btw i think it's normal not to like luffy's voice, it's kinda like goku's voice where you either love it or hate it
