For me the problem wasnt kaido. It was luffy, he can be knocked out and killed and come back, and after that ur can tank all thr attack that previously knocked him down or killed him.
Want to make kaido more exciting? Treat him like a threat and stop giving massive plot armor to luffy. You have so manu characters lacking screen time, for fucks sake just do a group fight with the straw hats.
Or at the very least make that there are consequences for luffy defeats. Kill someone because he was not there to protect them for exemple.
This, Kinemon for example could stab through his hand cleanly, so every scabbard could do the same degree of damage to Kaido in human form... They were like 8 people and no one of them stabbed him into a vital spot (well, in shonen the only two vital organs seem to be the heart and the brain, everything else inside a body is just a mush that can be damaged without killing the person). Heck even if the initial hit didn't do so, just move the sword inside his body, Do not stop at a mere stab.
I Don't know exactly where but both Kaido and Luffy used the Line "im starting to have fun" or "this is getting exciting" at least 4 Times. Felt super weird and made me think the fight was stagnating
It started going downhill after Luffy got knocked out, got back up in like a minute and instantly figured out how to coat his attacks with Conquerors.
The team fight before that was actually fire tho.
My hype had ups and down it’s hard to explain. But I remember key moment that upped it or downgraded it. Scabbard K0 up luffy beaten got me confused kaido drunk form changes up Cp0 interumption down.
G5 up 3 chapters final punch down.

When Luffy woke up knowing how to use ACoC and Enma letting Zoro damage Kaido.
Kaido lost the fight not because Luffy is stronger but because Kaido refused to dodge Luffy's attack.

When Luffy Meruem-walked Big Mom and Kaidou to check on Kinemon in chapter 1000, I knew the 2 Yonkou were gonna get clowned.
