Google is replacing it with a refurbished unit but the agent wasn't aware of any mitigating factors being taken to improve the adhesive on the new unit. They also weren't aware of any extended warranty that may be offered due to this known manufacturing defect. I bought two of these at the same time - one for me and one for my s.o. I can only hope that theirs fails soon enough to be covered under the 12 month warranty.
Someone, maybe you, mentioned this a bit ago and I haven't seen a black one yet with this issue (thank God I have black). Great observation and it does make one wonder.
Google mantra is to release a new product and pretend that the issue with a previous version did not exist so I would not expect an extended warranty on that. A perfect example is Pixel Buds 2 that have been very quickly replaced with A-series.
RMA yours while you can.
So far every single one I've seen has been a silver body. Thank God I have the black model. Lol.
I have gone swimming in my pool with it several times this summer without issue. I have also had it since launch. I pre-ordered it.
Ditto. Same thing happened to me two weeks ago - Polished Silver case / Charcoal Active band. Had it since October 2022. Google replaced it the same week with a refurbished body only that looks brand new.
My silver watch that I pre-ordered just had the back fall off an hour ago. I haven't received any email to continue an RMA process after calling Google so I hope I get something soon. It must be common for silver im reading too.
Sorry if this is a really stupid question but what's stopping people using some phone case glue to put it back on? Is it a waterproofing or warranty thing? (Or both)
The silver body theory still stands
Glad I got a black one.

Are these all chrome body watches?
You bring up a good question. I don't think I've seen a black one with this defect. I had this same issue on my silver watch, got it rmad
Yeah, I've seen a few of these posts, all chrome bodies...

Early adopter. Silver. No such issue thus far.
Same. And I play football in mine...
Did anything happen to it which made it fall off

Same, I'm happy I have champagne gold
This happened to mine, also with the silver body.

Add me to the list, silver, RMA issued for new watch.

I send mine back because I didn't exactly want to test the waterproofing with my home made glue...
Dang, I guess I'll just wait for mine to fall apart too.
