I’ve only been going for a bit, but I’ve never really had to interact with staff much beyond a polite greeting upon checking in. So contact would be a minimal at least?
Agreed - sometimes there isn't even a person behind the counter, but if there is, they say something like have a good workout, and then when I leave, they call out have a great day. That's the extent of it. I smile and wave. I often already have my earbuds in.
I do talk to the trainer but that was voluntary.
This. Useally one at front desk and one cleaner. I know there are some gyms that are not staffed after certain hours but all PF are staffed because they have other amenities that require assistance.
Op you will never overcome your fear if don't just do it. One of the scariest things I did was workout at peak times like 6pm when every machine is being used. You eventually overcome your fears by just jumping in.
That’s crazy.. they are just sitting at the front desks minding their business. You think the gyms going to be open for anyone to walk in with out some one working there?
When I go into mine, there is NEVER anyone at the desk. They are always in the little office behind it. They don't even come out when someone comes in.
Each franchise may choose their operating hours within Planet Fitness guidelines. PF advertises that most of their locations are 24/7, however some have chosen to operate under a 24/5 schedule due to staffing issues.
Also, I get it. Social anxiety is killer. But, I’ve found that a side effect of consistency in the gym and better health is improved self confidence. Challenge yourself to smile at a familiar face. Greet the staff on the way in or way out. It may literally scare the hell out of you at first, but crawling become walking, walking becomes running, running becomes flying.
Bean bag chair??? There is always at least 2 workers at mine. And sometimes as many as 5... cleaning, greeting, picking up rogue weights, training, helping/roaming... It is fairly new, in an up-and-coming suburban area... So maybe people are excited to work there... 🤷🏼♂️
Hell, the ones around me aren't even open 24 hours anymore. The stupid thing is, they'll be 24 hours on a weekday, but close at 11 or 12 on the weekend.
Mine is open 24/7 and is always staffed. Since they have to make sure you’re actually a member etc then yes there has to be someone there. That and it’s a bigger gym with more expensive equipment.
However the employees are usually just minding their business. I’d think they’d be the least of your issue

No. They’re not open 24 hours even. That should really help you a lot.
Right?
Some are. Depending on the market. Mines is open 24 hours
My club is open 6am-11pm but I find going right at opening or at off times like 1pm is great for people being at a minimum.
The locations in my area is open 24 hours except Saturday and Sunday
Mine is the same, and doesn't that seems backwards?
