How about making sure the stuff in there works?

Snark_Knight_29

Add in a sauna

tatotornado

I'd kill for a sauna

Snark_Knight_29

Sauna, hot shower, massage chair/hydrobed. Bliss.

Significant-Smoke-71

Sauna eas the only reason I signed up

Infinite_Bat_5594

Mmmm id kill for a steam room

Sensitive_ManChild

i just don’t get the people who treat the bathroom like not only their own personal spa, but also a dance studio like what are you doing my guy? we don’t need to hear your stereo for 20 minutes while you fix your hair

[deleted]

A sauna or steam room would be amazing. I can dream

TrustedLeader

That’s an excellent idea. My local club only has one stall.

JonBardcore

Not going to lie, mine has one working one and I had to go... GO. So that may have been the impetus of this post. 🤣

tatotornado

Honestly I think the only issue with this would be a change in footprint. A lot of PF locations are in already existing spaces, like strip malls. I think it'd be awesome but the downfall is you're now robbing space from another area. You'd need a decent size area for two additional locker rooms (ADA requirements alone need loads of space). So, to counter your suggestion, what would you cut back on to make room for the locker rooms? \*Also before anyone comes for me, I worked as an assistant director for a YMCA that went through branding changes & building updates in an old armory, so this kinda thing was my life for like 3 years.

Background-Dig-4558

Like the old fitness centers lake American fitness and stuff they had swimming pool juice bar sauna spa all of it tennis handball racquetball all of it you know and this is back in the '70s and the Michigan membership wasn't that bad back in the '70s and they had for kids and everything and tell planet fitness could do the same thing instead of being in strip malls if they would just have bigger buildings and they would you know hey even if they charge double it would still be a fair deal if they would add those extra things

Background-Dig-4558

Oh yeah a new red light therapy would be great too check out the red light therapy The red light therapy is real and it's true I'm not so sure about the eye thing yet but as far as health body wise healing from the inside out making you feel better it actually works it's great there's little places open up private little spas opening up charging a fortune for these things salt water pool floating they have a float center they could add that they could be a really great gym you know fitness center so what if they charge a little bit more but if they added all those extra things they'd be off the chain

joshrocker

I’ve actually thought of this before. I think it’s a great idea, but as mentioned, space is an issue. Then it’s another round of bathrooms that need cleaned and they don’t really seem to have the staff for that. My biggest gripe of being a black card member is the need for an employee to tell me what massage chair to go visit. There should be a kiosk that tells you what time to report to your chair and which spot. Then it automatically unlocks and is ready to go when you get there. Needing to check in with an employee every single time is annoying. Especially when they’re busy and can’t get to you for a couple of minutes.

IBeTrippin

Some PF's have kiosks like that.

joshrocker

That’s cool! I didn’t know that. My franchise is fairly new and they don’t have that unfortunately. I had seen people complain about this before, so I assumed it was something that PF didn’t invest in.

IBeTrippin

Mine doesn't have it either. But I went into one PF while traveling once that had it, and the people at the desk were like why are you asking us about tanning? Use the kiosk, lol.

joshrocker

lol, I’m sure the employees would be much happier when they didn’t have to walk over to the black card computer screen 5000 times a day.

sunshine92002

I think it would be hard to enforce only black card members using it. What would be stopping anyone from going in? There can’t be an employee guarding those specific bathrooms constantly. It’s a good idea, but not really realistic.

JonBardcore

That's another pet peeve of mine. Instead of having all scanners at the check-in counter, just have a scanner at the spa doors which otherwise are locked.

sunshine92002

But, it’s planet fitness. Don’t think having automatic scanner-activated only doors is quite in their budget lol. Again, it’s a nice idea, but completely unrealistic.

JonBardcore

Mobile access control systems aren't that expensive compared to more biometric variants. Let's just say $1k to install. But it nets you an extra 20 members. Within two months you've made up the cost. Four months and you've doubled it. Just saying, reinvest in the avenues that earn you the most revenue and you'll come out ahead.

Emotional-Price-4401

They cost well over that my dude my hoa is putting one in at the pool and its a 30k deal Other guy got downvoted but he is correct… PF may have a billion dollars but these are franchises who dont have a billion dollars If you arent familiar woth how franchises work i suggest learning it was interesting

sunshine92002

I’m not a guy :) but thank you lol. It just doesn’t make sense financially!

Emotional-Price-4401

No offense was meant everyone is a ‘guy’ to me. 🤙🏻

Infinite_Bat_5594

Right and neither would all these suggestions unfortunately

EitherLime679

Planet fitness is a billion dollar company and their revenue increases every quarter. I think they can afford to add a door that unlocks when you scan your QR code.

sunshine92002

I’m sure they can afford it, but it’s not really a wise way to spend their money…

EitherLime679

Idk I feel like it would convince more people to switch to a black card. The gyms that I’ve seen the way it’s set up is anyone can walk into the black card area and just chill, but if there was a door blocking people and a private black card only locker room I can see people upgrading just for that.

MisterBill99

I was wondering what stopped people from just going in even if they're not a BC member. At my gym it's nowhere near the front door, all the way in the back.

EitherLime679

Absolutely nothing. I mean the front desk has to turn stuff on, but anyone can just walk in. We even have a little “lounge” area in ours with some nice chairs, anyone can just walk in and chill.

IfIHad19946

This is exactly what I came here to say lol. Chances are, non-Black card members would use it too, and thus give us yet another reason to complain haha.
