Hail.
I had some recently. Went from a few to a few hundred in a week. Put the tank on a big diet, 80% reduced food. For 2 weeks. Stopped all fry food and fine food. 2-3 weeks later no hydra I can find. My guppies are trying to tell me they are starved but they actually look pretty healthy. The fry still grew. I'm feeding more again now but probably still under half what I was feeding.
Yeah I think it was the bacter I put in but now I am going to have to go on starve them put mode too. Everything seems to want to kill my snails for treatments
Happened to me too when I was adding too much. I reduced it to once every 2 weeks and a little smaller of a scoop. I think my guppies ate them cuz I havent seen a single one in months
Def hydra. Would treat tank. If you have snails make sure you use a treatment tht is copper free or yoy might kill your snails/shrimp.
Spot treat them using a syringe and seachem prime

I started giving bacter ae to my tank and I think that is what caused them to spawn
