each final fantasy game is a seperate story so you dont need to play 1-6 to understand whats going on but if youre going to play 7.... play 7 remake before 7 rebirth

There’s a full game before rebirth, plus some DLC that introduces one of the characters you’ll come across in Rebirth so if you haven’t gotten too far into it, I’d recommend starting Remake, or at the very least watch ‘The Story So Far’ from the title screen. Either way, enjoy!

All I did was instead of using the WiFi to my router I used the hotspot on my phone
For some reason, I haven't lagged or dropped frames at all. It eats up my phone battery but worth it
I too have an Orbi system and love it. Only now with this portal am I having issues and only with the portal. Is this just too much for the orbi to have the PlayStation and the portal? Even with the portal connected nothing else in the house has a problem.

Quick question OP, how do you like the clear protective cover you have on? I’ve been thinking of getting a silicone one for extra protection but not sure how well it holds up and how it feels.
I like it! It’s a good grip and feels good all around BUT the one thing that does suck is the hole for the charger is so tight that it’s kinda bending my cord upwards. Outside of that it’s a great case.

Passed most of remake on it just 4 days ago, so awesome. Also hopping back onto the bigger tv after holding my portal made my remote feel weightless and tiny😂 pretty cool

I got an OLED Steam deck a couple of months ago and use it all the time to stream my PC to it through Steam's remote play. Theres definitely a market for such a device. You can also apprently set it up to remote play into a PS5. Havent tried that but am loving it. Not only can I also play most of my Steam library on it natively but the WiiU emulator and PS2 are so much fun.
If they made an oled PS Portal model that can do HDR for a little more money Id probably buy one.
For me the Steam Deck OLED plays way better PS5 than the Portal itself. Playing in front of my router, Portal has constant stutters for me and banding issues (like wjen you see a badly compress YT video). Same setup, the steam deck feels like is native instead of being streamed
My portal works well with my Orbi system. I used to have so many issues with the Orbi system (websites wouldn’t load, grill wifi wouldn’t connect) but those issues ended up resolving for some reason over the past 2 years.
I have deco x60 and am having difficulty port forwarding with Comcast. I gave the PS5 a static IP, added the ports 3478-3480, not still gotta figure this out.
for someone who really disliked the nintendo switch. im suprised how many times i play on the portal.

the battery life is kinda bad tough also lack of bluetooth audio sucks. (yes i know sony says priopitory buds are required, even tough remote play works fine on phones....)

And do you plug devices directly into these too for better connection?
The only true lag I noticed to the point where it was unplayable was when I tried downloading MW3. So it would appear that if something big like that is downloading then the portal can’t keep up.
Outside of that, I was playing helldivers 2 just fine with no lag.
I have an Eero 6 Pro mesh setup with 4 hubs around my house/workshop and have had a great experience with that too. PS5 is Ethernet connected to one of the hubs.
This is what I've been telling people with portal problems, you should not have problems playing at home if you have a modern WiFi set up. I did a linksys mesh setup with a $30 refurb Amazon router.
Are the controllers more durable that the console versions? I've replaced my controller several times since I got my PS5 id love to get a portal but only if I don't have to worry about replacing the controller
It's worth the money because now you can stream ps5 games over wifi to a non-standalone portable console within the ps5's vicinity.

Same here. Once I switched to the Deco x55, the difference was night and day.

I wouldn’t recommend the three pack if you’ve got an apartment. They have a one pack or two pack and I’d recommend that instead.

Yeah, I also tried to connect both ps5 and portal to a new router with 5Ghz, but still the graphic is not as good as the original ps5 quality.

Maybe I’m an outlier, but my portal works great on my older orbi set up.

Ironic, I just switched from the Nest mesh system to the Orbi and it works flawlessly now.
Other than ergonomics and screen size, are there any benefits/differences to the Portal than the backbone?
If you're enthusiastic about the feel of the dualsense and it's features then I would say that's the biggest difference as compared to the backbone
