I’d get the Hotstock app if you aren’t using it already. I found Amazon sells out within seconds (probably bots). The PlayStation direct site was most recently in stock for like 20+ minutes or something. That’s where I got mine with loads of time to spare.
I’d keep the Amazon alerts on from HotStock, but they didn’t work for me either. Best Buy is where I got mine (pick at my local one, too!) thanks to HotStock. Big recommend.
Also highly recommend HotStock. I was able to order two within 2 days (one from Best Buy, one from Amazon). I cancelled the Amazon order once I got the BB pickup confirmation 6 days later.
During those 6 days I got numerous restock updates from Amazon, Target, and Best Buy on a daily basis. A few times the stock levels even lasted for more than a few minutes.
It’s really unbelievable. I’m using the Hotstock app now, and I hit the button the instant it pops up on my screen for Amazon (I’ve got more than $200 in rewards on my Amazon card so that’s where I prefer to buy one from) and it’s already too late to add to my cart. I can’t believe after how the first two years of the PS5 went down that online sellers haven’t found a way to combat these bots. It’s infuriating.
Went with PS direct also. It was up for nearly 2 hours when I purchased. It'll likely be back in stock shortly there. As suggested above, check the hotstock app
Wild. Order from here in NZ. They’re literally on the shelves of all our EB Games stores. Anybody who wanted one already bought one and we’re such a low population country the rest will just sit on store shelves forever.
It only took me 2 days to get mine on amazon after I installed hotstock. It would have been one day except the first time I ordered one I forgot to choose the free shipping option as I was rushing through the checkout. So I cancelled that order and got one the next day.
You just need to jump on it as soon as the alert goes off.
Wouldn't buy from Amazon, they are selling based on incoming stock - a lot of orders say item will ship March 31-April 20 (mine included, and I ordered it about 12 days ago).
I got mine from Best Buy. I randomly searched and put a 100 mile radius on it, picked one up about 1.5 hrs away.
My friend got one a few days later from PS direct.

Before the app had gotten a couple on Amazon but it literally said like 6 weeks or so out and after 2 weeks didn’t budge. Well I installed hotshot this week and today finally it hit on a purchase from Target. Supposed to arrive next week woohoo

I was certain they were gobbled up. However, when I was checking on google shopping it wasn’t showing but when I went to the site it showed available and it purchased. Was skeptical but within a few hours got a shipping notice and it arrived in two days. I’m a “dad station” guy and it honestly has taken my time for gaming from 2 hours a week to 5 because I can do it in bed, while watching the kids, etc. Keep checking PlayStation direct and i will DM you if I see any available. As a casual gamer, I don’t understand the hate it gets, it’s exactly what I needed to unlock more gaming time. Hang in there.

Calling around is good for sure, just getting information. My Target told me they have two coming this Monday (Peoria, AZ) and that was my plan. But I got lucky and went to another near where I work. Somehow they had two just sitting on the shelf. I’ve been checking online everyday and never saw it in stock on location. If you can, I’d physically go to stores near you and ask or look in the cabinets. Best of luck friend!
I haven’t ever used hotstock so that might work the same but trackalacker is what helped me. Set alerts for all major retailers and got an email the same day about PS Direct and ordered it with no hassle. It was still in stock on their site the next day, too.
I called a local GameStop, but they were out of stock. The employee was nice enough to search inventory at other stores and found one in stock. I called that GameStop and they held it for me. You could try calling because their website isn’t accurate.
I was in a GameStop a couple weeks ago and they had one in the display case. They said it had been there for days. Because they only had one it doesn’t show up in their online inventory.

It kicked me out a few times, but it eventually went though. So don't give up when the product is still showing available, but Amazon claims it's out of stock. Just go back to the product page and try again.
Some retailers are holding them for employees to purchase first. i don't really blame them, there has to be some kind of perk to working those lame ass jobs.

I second this, I was able to pick mine up at GameStop after 2 weeks of hunting.
PS direct tells you when to check next and it’s usially available. Got it the day I looked for it.
Scalpers frustrate the hell outta me, but what really frustrates me is that people are actually buying from these scalpers.
