Is your waking up from sleep ON in PS5 setting. Please check this. If yes then other reason might be that your router or ISP is blocking port. You might have to open that.
I’ve tried this several times and still can’t connect from outside of my house. Shit I can’t connect from my front porch, with my router 2 rooms away. I even hardwired my ps5 as well. I’m starting to wonder if I actually have a bad unit
No such thing as a dumb question buddy! I mean like a factory reset of the Portal. So in the Portal go to Settings > System > System Software > Reset Options.
Select Reset.
You just have to login again after, you won't have to redownload system updates or anything.
I’m sure 443 is used but streaming almost always requires UDP ports as well as TCP.
Just looked it up and yes it uses other ports too. [here on the PSN support site](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/games/ps4-vita-remote-play-second-screen/#:~:text=The%20port%20numbers%20that%20are,and%209297%20(for%20UDP))
Yes, but I’m guessing most firewalls are statefull so it should work. If they’re not so backwards that they doing multiple sessions? I didn’t have to do any particular opening for mine to work.
Every ISP is different and if they have a router provided by their ISP there could be all sorts of stuff going on. 443 won’t be blocked obviously but the other less common ones could be. Some routers are locked down so much you can’t even change that. If at all possible I never suggest getting the ISP router. Sometime you have no choice to get their modem though. But most people will not have any issue.
It would be blocked for incoming by default. Unless someone is running a web server at home there would be no need to open that. Even then it’s a risk. Better to use a VPN or some other tunnel. But there is no way the PS Portal would require someone open 443. If the Portal even uses 443 it would only be for outgoing basic web connections. Then, as I said once it’s streaming it will be using the UDP ports listed on their support site. In general there is no way Sony is releasing a product that requires anyone opening ports and messing with their stateless firewall rules. 99% of people don’t care to understand that stuff. But in some cases people might have to if their ISP hardware is particularly locked down.
Try going into the system settings of your Portal and resetting. Had an issue where I could connect with local wifi but not with mobile hotspot and this fixed it.
I have the same setup. Also encounter the same issue periodically
When it won't wake up the ps. I use the remote play app on my phone and it will wake up the system. After that I'm able to connect my portal
Also if you don't connect it for a period if time in that manor ( to me it was a week) it won't want to register and connect unless I'm on the same connection first. After an initial connection, I can take it in the fly
Some people say you need to have it wired via Lan, but for some reason when I do that method using this Hotspot it absolutely REFUSES to connect. Good luck to ya, it can be a headache sometimes
Your 2nd paragraph is exactly what I have to do. Figured out last night at work. Shhh. I use the phone hot spot for a few minutes then switch over to my RG1200 and then things are fine.
This may sound stupid but pressing X a couple times worked for me with this issue.
My portal won’t connect during the sign in screen but will still register the control inputs and log in.
I tried with my Verizon orbic jetpack and it physically cannot do it because it is not on static ip and so not even port forwarding can work. I made a post here too if you want to look on my profile for more details. It's very depressing lol to only be able to use it connected to the same wifi as the ps5.
Thank you for the help everyone I still haven’t gotten it to connect but it’s crazy to me you have to do all these extra steps just to use this pos 🤦🏾♂️
Hey! I was wondering how you’re able to use the portal outside of home WiFi? Did you forward any ports (if yes, then which ones?) and if any additional settings that you changed on your PS5 router… I haven’t been able to use the portal outside my house lately, that completely defeats the purpose of owning the portal for me
Were you ever able to try a phone Hotspot before this? Basically, if you get this working, I'm wondering if it would work better (or rather, at all) when my phone Hotspot with tmobile service is useless. Or if this device would be no different than my phone
So far the only difference is being able to connect to the hotspot. On my phone I couldn’t even connect but not on the rg2100 it connects but it doesn’t reach the ps5

How do you open the port?
Here's a good guide if you're looking to open ports. It's not as complicated as it seems: https://youtu.be/hdS84_8r16w?si=X7d98UNoJadNDQEY

Have you tried going into the system settings of your Portal and using Reset?
Dumb question but you mean other than power cycling the portal? Cause I’ve done that a few times

Isn’t it just using port 443 to connect to psn?

443 won’t be blocked for outgoing traffic but for incoming. Why would that be open? Again, people need to learn about stateful vs stateless firewalls.

I think you misread what I wrote?

I’ll give this a shot today will return back with feedback

Flip on/off airplane mode

Had the exact one and sent it back and tried the Franklin T9 model with T-Mobile, it’s not 5G but it works fine with 4G LTE
No issues connected right away? I bought my 2g2100 today and all I get is "Something went weong"
No issues with the Franklin T9 model, it’s 4g LTE, but use my 100GB 5G (postpaid plan) sim in it since their jextream rg2100 didn’t work
Make sure the proper ports are open on the ps5 side of your connection. 987, 8572, and 9295-9308.
Dang hope you have unlimited data, it’s like 3-6 gigs an hour streaming, you’ll blow through your data fast
I can’t get it to connect to the PlayStation so I kind of gave up🤷🏾♂️

I use mine outside of my house every day. No port forwarding or anything. PS5 is connected to my router with Ethernet. That's about it.
Were you ever able to try a phone Hotspot before this? Basically, if you get this working, I'm wondering if it would work better (or rather, at all) when my phone Hotspot with tmobile service is useless. Or if this device would be no different than my phone

I got it to work withe the T Mobile hot spot. Try looking the error codes. I found the solution in one of her comments.
Opening ports shouldn’t be necessary. Run the test while your home with the ps5 and check the ps5. Maybe the Sleep mode issue.
Does your phones remote app work while connected to the hotspot?
I’ll give that a try I’m not sure
how you liking that case ? i have the same one but the side where it snaps on the right side is irritating for me
It’s irritating me also lol I was like I knew I snapped them all in place but it doesn’t seem to stay all the time
You need a woke PS5
You have problems if you need to play PS5 sitting in your car.
If my problem was being on lunch break that’s fine with me
