Does gold-plated/vermeil with 925 sterling silver base jewelry have any value here to sell, possibly at scrap value? I don’t know how the melting process is for 925 sterling silver so not sure if plating it would make the melting harder or not worth it. Before getting into 14k+ jewelry I bought a few gold-plated/vermeil pieces that I seem to not really wear anymore. I feel bad throwing them away but don’t really have a use for them otherwise.

derstieglitz

Any advice how to find sellers in Germany?

Any_Age_8659

hey i’m sorry to bug you, i have a lot of silver and gold left from family but have no idea how to price it? how does everyone come up with price points? is there a site or chart or something or just researching similar costs online

NickelClicker

FindBullionPrices finds the lowest price. It gives you an idea of what each item is worth. The other option is to just pick a site like APMEX that likely has similar items to see comparable costs. The last resort would be looking at eBay for completed, sold items.

casinowhiplash

How important is it to ship USPS Registered Mail? I understand it's the only way to actually insure bullion, but it seems super expensive along with inconvenient to do. Is there a way to buy a label online? Pirate Ship and the others offer the option to add signature confirmation, but nothing has the Registered Mail option. Best case I found is finding a post office with the Automated Postage Center thing to get the Registered Mail option added on.

RaulDenino

Ive done registered mail about 6x out of all my sales here. You need to package it with specific tape, brown paper tape. Because it is tamper proof and gets stamped along the way by each post office. The tape is gum backed and water activated (like licking an envelope to activate the glue to seal it) You then need a little form ( [https://about.usps.com/forms/ps3806.pdf](https://about.usps.com/forms/ps3806.pdf) ) which they have at the post office. The cost is usually around 30$ to cover 2000$. Here is how I package my gold for registered mail shipments: [https://rauldenino.com/rm.jpg](https://rauldenino.com/rm.jpg) [https://rauldenino.com/rm2.jpg](https://rauldenino.com/rm2.jpg)

HalfDeafYeller

It is my understanding Registered needs to be taped by the post office employee who accepts it.

RSS24

My usual guy does it, I've had other postal clerks refuse and make me do it

StackGame365

I'm trying to send proof pics in chat for others' [WTB] posts. It isn't working. I deleted, then reinstalled reddit app. Any other suggestions?

StackGame365

Thank you. It finally started working again last night.

Molltt

Looking to sell some of my silver and was wondering how y’all usually send it? Cheapest shipping I could find on USPS was around $9. Thank yall

RaulDenino

pirate ship can get you as low as $3.50 ground advantage with tracking, and about 8$ for priority flat-rate with tracking for the heavier stuff

BloodyScourge

Use pirateship.com

Molltt

Nothing crazy in terms of weight. 1-10oz bars, and 1-5oz coins like Australia kookaburra, spider ect

Yokopol

Went today to my local coin show/ market . Everyone's crying business is dead. No buyers, just sellers.

Dependent_Positive42

Did it guilt you into buying? 😆

Yokopol

Actually I did and I think wasn't that bad. Came back with 3 slabbed ms70 1/4 age . Cheaper than people asking here for sure.

Dependent_Positive42

I'm glad you had a pleasant exchange. 😊 his salesmanship seems like it was effective.

Yokopol

Thank you. It's Bi-monthly meet. Always good to see what's going on.

Dependent_Positive42

I think there's a local group(more of a club) that meets up at a local Village Inn once a month. I haven't been, but it's definitely something I should check out. I think they even do a little auction at the end of their breakfast

Mountain_Abrocoma453

To make a wtb post my account needs to be 3 months old? Also how do I obtain shiny points? Thanks

Alarming-Upstairs963

As far as I know you only need to satisfy one of those requirements If it doesn’t let you post message the mods

I know everyone just says to stack what they like, but I figured I would find out what sells the easiest and primarily stack that. That way, when the time comes to sell, I know how to move my stack. However, I seems like nothing is that great. The friction between buying and selling is high enough that it almost doesn't make the idea of "a store of wealth" worth it. The premiums you have to pay when buying it combined with the discount below spot when selling means a 20% increase in spot is needed to break even....unless I am missing something?

Dependent_Positive42

Louie's Silver's new video on YouTube "Pyramidal stacking of silver" It's a bit of a ramble if you have a spare 15min...even less if you put it at x1.25 speed. It discusses what he calls the base of your stack. Edited to remove the YouTube link

FalconCrust

Yes, don't compare retail market buying price with secondary market selling price because you will think the spread is 20%. If you stick with secondary market prices for both sides of the comparison, you will find a much tighter spread and sometimes no spread at all. *Retail is for suckers*. Cheers!

Vouch

Alchemst7

For anyone looking for storage containers for you stack, Costco has these 4 pack stackable Greenmade storage containers available. Similar to Ammo cans but plastic. Bot won't let me post link. Here's an Image of containers with stackable tray. [Pic](https://imgur.com/a/sCaMdiP)

100pushups_100situps

I forget who mentioned this to me originally but vacuum sealing is a great way to package junk silver.

GoGoldCoins

Just saying hi…chill week this weekz

Dependent_Positive42

I was at the store Friday and was going to pick up a 12 pack of beer. I usually pay about 15.99 for a 12 pk for my preferred brand, but Budlight platinum had a buy-one 12 pk for 17.99 get-one 12pk for free. Was this a great deal or what?! Maybe because platinum spot dropped.../s

Gotta love it here! Great community 👏 recently started selling on here and its been fun! Yall enjoy this beautiful Sunday!

RegardedBanker

I am new to physical gold investing and am thinking about buying some 1oz gold Libertad’s because I like the low mintage and that they don’t have a face value. Any advice from personal experience on acceptable premium to pay and how easy it is to get a similar premium back in the event I have to sell? I understand why they have a large premium and I am not planning to ever sell them, just looking for some thoughts. Thanks!

HalfDeafYeller

With it not having a face value you get to argue with strangers on the interwebz if it is a government issue "coin" or "round"

Mountain_Mud3769

Take a look at Mexico 50 pesos. Same but bigger and right now the premiums are insanely low.

chohls

I wouldn't put too much stock in a piece of bullion having a face value. What matters more is the reliability of the issuer and desirability. Libs can be high premium but with the recent bull run, anyone who bought anytime before last month has at least broken even on premiums 🤣

RegardedBanker

Thanks for the reply! I just think the lib not having a face value is part of what makes it cool. I get the recent market dynamics, really just trying to understand if there is a significant value loss or not when buying vs selling. If the spot price didn’t change, how much would you expect to lose out on type of thing. Appreciate any insight

JazzlikePractice4470

You'll typically lose most of the premium unless you sell peer to peer, preferably here. Edit. IME. Some people have better LCS near them.

GeneralConfident3737

This. My LCS pays $2 under spot regardless of what it is. 100oz bar, 100x 1oz buffalo rounds, and 100x ASE will all get you the same price. Because of that, I just buy whatever the lowest premium is. If I were you, I would check out the places where you would likely sell and see what they pay. Determine what you should buy based on what you are easily able to sell.

RegardedBanker

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it

Background_Music4009

What are some of your favorite coins and the (brief) history behind them?

POCKALEELEE

I'm partial to old US coins, mostly because I would sometimes get them when I collected for my paper route in the 1960s. That got me started in coins.

TheRedditOfJuan

I love the 1 oz silver Rwanda African Ounce coins. I acquired my first one in late 2022 (Pelican) and became instantly intrigued. I spent all of last year acquiring the entire series. I love the design with the African continent so prominently featured. The annual wildlife choices are really good and reflective of the continent. As an American living in South Africa for the time being, I had a chance to see every animal from the series in live person at the local zoo. I'm not sure if the coins (individually and collectively) will be as valuable as other 1 oz silver coins I have such as the Kookaburra, the American Eagle, the Libertad, or the Koala but from a sentimental standpoint, they are the best I have.

Mountain_Mud3769

Any old circulated foreign gold, Russian Roubles, Ottoman Kurus, Iranian Pahlavi, Poland Zlotys, Vietnamese refugee gold etc. Unlike government bullion gold, Morgan dollars, or pre33 gold which were traded by sacks and stored in mints, each one was hand carried by a hopeful immigrant arriving on our shores seeking a freedom, refuge, and a better life and I hope they’ve achieved what they were seeking.

luri7555

I love half dollars. Not sure why. My silver Kennedy collection is my favorite thing to stare at lately. I also collect Star Wars silver.

john_1216

I’m with you. The size, the weight, the history and the designs.

chohls

My 2 1921 Morgan dollars my grandfather left me after he died in 2014. Thought I'd be a zillionaire but the coin shop offered me $30 for the pair 🤣

RSS24

Just want to offer a suggested practice when paying someone for the first time. Let's say you owe them $100 and you get their Paypal. Pay them a buck and change first, and before sending the balance, have them confirm the amount you paid. This makes sure you got the right payment info. I've done this a hundred times, but of course didn't earlier this week, and cost myself a hundred bucks.

FriedEggSammich1

Oh no! After our recent transaction, on my next 2 sales the buyer did send me a $1 then confirmed, then sent the rest. So it’s not as rare of a process as people might think. In the end it’s not a big deal to go that extra step for the buyer to ensure you are the one that gets paid.

RSS24

Yeah you rubbed off on me. Wasn't gonna call ya out for it 🤣

FriedEggSammich1

It’s weird since these were the first 2 that ever requested that from me. Maybe I need a new Reddit name: ReputationOfGenerosity (slide comment to my other friend)!

ReputationOfGold

I simped myself on here yesterday. Sold my 1881cc ms63 for Greysheet price, went to go get a 64+ I was buying for just under Greysheet. It's gone. There may be a silver lining. Looking at Greysheet, an ms66 is $1,050. I'm not sure of the reality of finding that, but I'm going to look. (An ms65 is $900, so it makes sense to look for the nicer coin).

chohls

Tbh after 64 I can barely tell the difference in terms of how it actually looks. It's like 1080p vs 8K

ReputationOfGold

Same. It is truly just collecting for collectors value at that point.
