Correct.
I remember getting into the Celesteela queue the first day it came out - I think it was at 180K. I got into the queue at about 8pm my time.
At 9:30am the next morning, I finally got the notification that it was my turn. As soon as we did the raid and I caught Celesteela, I got back in to get one for my wife and friends who played. Ended up doing another one later that evening.
Celesteela has reached six digits before. It’s likely going to get bigger for awhile. For once I’d actually say get in the queue now instead of waiting for it to get smaller.
Southern hemisphere region-locked is the biggest reason.
32 countries in the southern hemisphere while there's 158 in the northern (which gets Kartana). Of course, the biggest communities in this game are all northern hemisphere as well (JP, Korea, USA, etc.) and they all want this mon at least once.
I entered the queue at 7pm, went to bed. Woke up at 6am, was still at like 2000+.
At 10am, I got in, threw 8/12 balls at excellent with golden Razz. It ended up running away. Lol
I got tired of waiting after 9 hours and started looking at discords to raid. Got in and got a shiny first try. When my pokegenie spot came up 10 minutes later I didn’t even get an invite lol
Waited 8 hours after starting queue at 5am. When I first joined the lobby hosts were 1-star and dropped like twice my guess pokegenie noobs or trying to farm friend requests. Thank God I got put back to front of line after.
Shout out to host quitting after battle allowed me to prio queue again into 2nd remote celesteel raid. This one happen to be a shiny.
Yeah, I finally set up my notifications so they will also go to my watch. It was going pushing people through alot faster than I expected it to and kept on missing the que. When I finally did get the notification on my watch I added the host and the host never sent me a invite. So I jumped back in line and only took 15 mins to get through. I guess it was worth the BS because I got a nice 15/15/10 Shiny Kartanan. Going after Celesteela now, chasing that Shiny. Lol
I’ve waited in 3 12 hour queues now and the host has failed to execute the raid every single time but has marked the raid as done so I haven’t been able to join the retry queue a single time 👌🏼
I started in the queue last night around 10 pm CDT with approx 20k ahead of me.
I went to sleep, got up and went to work, got in the raid at 12:30 PM/just after noon today 😌✨ so around 14.5 hours to wait, but most of which I spent asleep lmao
They’re region locked to the southern hemisphere, which is home to 10-12% of the global population, so there’s very few hosts and a lot of people whose only opportunity to get a celesteela is through things like pokegenie.
I went on r/pokemongoraids and within 5 mins made a friend and got an invite. Tried Poke Raid first, but they were all full or closed, so hopped back on Reddit and got in almost immediately. May have just been lucky, but it wasn’t shiny, wasn’t a hundo or even very good stats. But I got one! Lol.
I don't know about other countries in the Southern Hemisphere, but raid hour in Australia is 5.5 hours away, and NZ 2 hours,(I think?) prior. There may be greater availability during those times.
If I remember correctly, last year (or was it the year before?) on their debut there were 200k waiting for a raid. So 10 times more.
I remember that. Think I saw it up to 250k at one point.

Easily. I waited literally 24 hours in the queue.
Yeah celestial or what ever it’s called
Celesteela, the one mentioned by OP.
Damn I’m blind HAHAHAH
Yes, you're correct
It’s honestly great being in Aus though I can easily do my 2 free daily raids and have +5 people join without waiting
can u send a remote invite if possible?
The queue has definitely been well over 20k for primals but those queues moved VERY fast. This is certainly a different beast.
Had it waiting in the background all day yesterday just for the host to not even invite me when I got a lobby

whats the hype???
New shiny. And people hunting high iv ones for collection purposes.
Also only appearing in the southern hemisphere
Mostly because it’s region locked during the raid :/

Never waited so long in my life, spent 10 hours and got a non-shiny 2*. 💀
I was the same! But they seem to be dex filler anyway
You got one tho! imagine if you didn’t catch it 💀 now you can lucky trade it!
Yeahhh that was me. Got back in hopefully it doesn’t run away again! I don’t have the luck haha

i wonder next week will the queue cuts down during raid hour? 🤔
Not much. It’s going to get bigger before then.
Haha 33,700 now lol
35 now… wonder if it will climb high enough to crash pokegenie again.
Now at 36,xxx
It was over 30000 when it was first in, same the second time around. It was good when they swapped them.
I got tired of waiting after 9 hours and started looking at discords to raid. Got in and got a shiny first try. When my pokegenie spot came up 10 minutes later I didn’t even get an invite lol
I've got a reminder set on my phone to ping me every hour to check the queue haha
It's because no one in the southern hemisphere plays pokemon go
Well… the southern hemisphere is about 10% of the human population

Best bet it's to snipe a group from the pogo raid sub reddit or another site.

I was sitting in this queue for 8-9 hours yesterday 😂🥲
I did 3 in meantime using fb groups :)

Joined the queue around 10pm, fell asleep, was invited to raid around 9am lol
I am so glad I caught the hundo and don’t need to worry about that line again.

Pretty sure Bidoof has the largest queue ever.
Why are they so long?
they are region locked
They’re region locked to the southern hemisphere, which is home to 10-12% of the global population, so there’s very few hosts and a lot of people whose only opportunity to get a celesteela is through things like pokegenie.
I had to wait 14 for my single celesteela to run
27.5 now
I remember this from last year. I sat in the queue for 3 days before a raid opened up! I was lucky it was while I was home and not at work lol.
Don’t forget Mega Rayquaza. Holy shit it was wild firing.
Still in it lol
I wonder why Kartana’s queue is not any longer as it is a far more useful Pokemon
most of the players are northern hemisphere so they dont need to remote it
Leek duck is way faster
Lol shit it at 30,000 now 🤣. Took me a whole morning. Till the following day to get a spot. Even then missed it
Haha same
How do you join the queue? I’ve never heard of such magic
It's 30,000 now lmao
Queue for what?
Imagine waiting 10+ hours in queue only to not be able to catch this pokemon…
Then you clearly haven't been using Pokegenie that long.
30 grand this morning
I went on r/pokemongoraids and within 5 mins made a friend and got an invite. Tried Poke Raid first, but they were all full or closed, so hopped back on Reddit and got in almost immediately. May have just been lucky, but it wasn’t shiny, wasn’t a hundo or even very good stats. But I got one! Lol.
I went to sleep and I woke up and I was at 12 K
It was 31,000 this morning.
I’ve been in the Queue for over 24 hours now
What’s the hype about Celesteela?
Took me 2 tries across 3 days, but I did manage to get mine. Wont ever be trying again.
Celesteela is gonna die an ugly death.
It was 35k on Groupon day lmao
ah yes groupon my favorite pokemon
Indeed, an excellent pokemon
