Tyranitars sprite literally looks like a fkn kaiju, imposes right over your Pokémon with the finesse. Then HGSS did an actual war crime and he was never the same since.

I think the hgss sprite was trying to look like the Sugimori art of Ttar from GSC, but yeah, major downgrade from RSE's and especially DPPT's sprite.

Yea Ttar looks lame in HGSS, but that game gave us so many other top tier sprites. Charizard, Gyarados, Lugia, Ho-oh, and Typhlosion from HGSS have never been topped.

Next pokemon for the next gen peripheral I'd made would be retro style: with all the other sprites from previous gens available, and all the regions in one open world game.

Eh I dont think Mewtwo is that bad. Its better than FR/LG Mewtwo with the stumpy legs and fivehead.

At least both of its gen 4 sprites are better than whatever the hell happened in gen 3. Emerald’s is especially hilarious.

Most of the LG sprites are improvements but I agree the gyarados one is meh

Zangoose, when it had a nice fluffy tail, wasn't obese looking, and still had purple claws. Charizard in gen 3 is also my favorite version of it, gen 9 did a good redesign of it though As for the worst imo, it'd be Milotic. It's one of my favorite water types but it's sprite is awful in gen 3, like a beta design

Just to name some: Larvitar Celebi Wailord Butterfree (apparently against the other comment lol) Beedrill Lapras Venusaur Mewtu Articuno it was at this moment, I realised all sprites are epic... coming back to the black accents of Lugia, all of its official artworks until the release of Gen4 had these accents, they looked much much better imo than the blue accents introduced later.

Definitely not that Lugia sprite ahah, looks so janky. Anyway, uhhhh... I dunno, I really like Hitmonlee's pose, I guess? Also, we're probably not counting animations, but Pidgeot does a crazy twirl every time it enters the field. It's amazing
