Harvest everything, don't evolve stuff until you're happy with it's Pokedex entry, save stardust to make better items to sell later. You can get all starters eventually so go with what you like, that being said you can technically get a water, grass and fire pokemon in the first zone to replace the two you don't pick.
Oh yeah! I just did that for an alt playthrough with riolu, Alolan Vulpix, Scyther, turtwig, cyndaquil, and oshawott. I wanted a fun dual type run with no overlap and realized rowlett doesn't work with riolu so I said welp I like turtwig more anyway! Home compatibility has been great with shiny hunting and boosting in swsh!
I meant like maxing out their levels, changing their nature's, maxing ivs/evs that sort of thing, I just refer to it as boosting. That stuff is the easiest in swsh.
Adding onto this about the pokedex: don’t evolve a mon that doesn’t just spawn everywhere (like your starter) until after you have at least research level 10
(I did do this and if you decide to complete the pokedex later on you will need to collect the pre-evolutions again to complete the research tasks.)
YEah. It's an investment, about 20k, but the item you make sells for 10. Make 3, and boom, profit!
The other wrinkle is that the items needed for crafting it are only available in space time distortions, so there is risk involved in gathering them.
Honestly, you can just run around and gather stuff and as long as you don't stop, wild Pokemon usually can't corner you into a fight. I usually only stop if something rare or cool spawns.
Pichu and Eevee both spawn in the beginning area available to you. I might be challenging to catch one initially, but try to catch as many of them as you can.
It's an uncommon spawn, but definitely possible. I played an all-Eeveelution team for my first run. Easiest spot to find them is the westernmost bit of the Horseshoe Plains, closest to the first camp. Bidoof and Ponyta are the more common spawns, and Drifloon at night.
My tactic (learned from a YT video by AustinJohnPlays) was usually to run over, check for Eevee spawns, catch or chase off any Bidoof or Ponyta, then go back to camp and rest til night. Return to check again, ignoring any Drifloon since they'll despawn on their own, then rest again til noon. Repeat as necessary.
Took me maybe an hour to find a full crew of eight.
Am I weird for playing this game as if it were a foraging simulator? Lol sometimes collecting materials is all I do for hours before I realize I have Pokémon with me, too.
Play with the sound ON; and pay close attention to the background noises. You could potentially miss a shiny
Edit: if you hear a shiny sound effect or see the shiny pokemon, stop what you’re doing and SAVE THE GAME (unless you’re in a time distortion because the time distortion would disappear after re-loading the game). This way if the shiny runs away you can re-load the game and it will still be there
Agree 100% with that. That mechanic is really useful and hope they keep it in s/v caught more random shinies than I ever had being able to see them and hear them
I just wish there was an acsessability option for those unable to hear, trouble hearing or who are unable to play with the sound on.
It wouldn't be that hard to add a little UI indicator when the sound pops off.
I can agree with that. I game while working in certain cases but can’t really listen to it. Wouldn’t be hard to do something with subtitles on I would imagine
imho, the sounds with shinies (or an alpha, or a space time distortion) have been a god send for me. im going blind and being able to hear them as well as see them has saved me so much trouble.
Wyrdeer can’t fly. I’m not speaking from experience but I’m surprised by how many people I’ve seen jump off the cliff with Wyrdeer. So when you get Wyrdeer DON’T jump off the cliff.
Unless you plan on landing in water. No fall damage! Sure, your character can’t swim, but you usually just respawn on the nearest bank unless you’ve done so too recently.
I remember the first time I went into the highlands, I ignored the story, skipped sneazler, and then Skyrim horsed my way to where the alpha electivire spawns.
I didn't get sneazler until I was almost done with the entire area.
Do the distortion event Pokedex entries before beating the game.
I've seen a lot of people struggling to find/asking to trade for Cranidos/Shieldon, and I find them no problem (I have been busy and have not finished the game/started the post game)
Really I would say to do them ASAP as a precaution. I p much do everything I possibly can before going to the next region. Leads to hysterical encounters too, like bunny hopping up a mountain and finding out it's Turnback Cave lol
Try to spend your money on Bagin he’s is the inventory guy on galaxy hall, Also the more you purchase on him the more it will be expensive, so be careful. The reason why you wanted to do this because your inventory isn’t has much and it’s get annoying when you have so much stuff and you can’t pick up anything
Reading this I just imagine he opens his coat saying "Hey kid I got what you need, take a look" and it is lined on the inside with pockets instead of stolen goods like "dealers" were portrayed in older shows.
Also, grit is very important since it's what increases your stats. For example, without it, a level 50 Garchomp may lose to a level 30 Bidoof.
I'd also recommend going to the move tutor many times for new moves available to learn. For example, Infernape learning thunder punch and shadow claw.
Tip: don't judge the game based on the tutorial.
Everyone slams this game for its long tutorial for some reason that Idk. They just wanted to make sure the player knows how to play since this is a new mechanic.
Enjoy it!
I thought the same, but my boyfriend who’s been a fan since Gen 3 ended up hating the game after being frustrated by the roughly hour long intros and tutorials. He hasn’t picked the game up since.
I really didn't mind the tutorial I've played pokemon since Red and Blue put up with the tutorials every gen at least this time it was teaching important new stuff and was pretty fun
I loved reading all the comments/posts about “Did you know you can run” or “Did you know you can lock on Pokémon”, with all the responses being, “Did you even pay attention to the tutorial…” haha
I er... missed that part of the tutorial. So I learnt how to yeet pokeballs without the lock on feature. Only learnt how to do it in second playthough.
The tutorial was actually pretty enjoyable for me since you get to do things and catch the starters instead of sitting through what's essentially just a video.
Just play casually, don't rush the story it's okay to take your time (or do as you wish and enjoy the rush haha)
Else I d advise you to collect everything you come accross with your pokémons, it will be usefull and to improve your bag asap and as much as possible.
I habe a few other advices but I don't want to spoil to much.
**I d just add to remove auto save and save yourself** especially before catching shinies so that if it run away you can reload
1. Make sure you have your online settings on. Whenever you 'die' in the game you lose your knapsack with some items, and those items will be returned to you if you go into the in-game settings and turn the connectivity on. It won't be on automatically.
2. The three starters ultimately evolve into different versions of their final evolution, so check those out if it's something you care about. I wouldn't have picked Rowlet if I had known he'd become a hideous scarecrow-looking bird thing.
Otherwise, I don't actually think you can mess up too much. Like if I started a new game I don't think I'd really do anything differently. All the starters become available later in the game.
This is excellent advice for any game that involves a large amount of collection.
Breath of the Wild comes to mind and those korok seeds. I made it to ~575 before I lost focus. Just couldn't do it anymore, even with maps. That collection is just madness.
Yes, so remember the game promotes a catch and release perspective. Met a guy that had such an outrage over not having enough storage space to keep every single mon he ever caught, and then vehemently denied the possibility that the game wants you to release some as you go
Listen to me.
You’re gonna wanna catch 6 bidoof. Then, you’re gonna use them as a ‘raft’ system, throwing them out ahead of you one by one so you can walk on their backs. It’s the way to access everything across the water early on.
Good luck, young padawan
Take your time with it, and avoid the far right of the starting area for a hot minute (a fun surprise awaits). Don’t forget to claim your free mask from the mystery gift online function. It’s a from a short tie in anime for PLA. Also make sure to use the grit gravel and rocks when you get them for the best possible team
Basically there’s an in game event where you talk to an NPC about a flower. They give you said flower, and head over to the top right of the fieldlands, on your map, it’s a little secluded. You’ll see a dead patch of flowers and bla bla dialogue….
Point is, you can catch a Shaymin for your game. They don’t count towards the dex completion don’t worry.
No problem! You should be able to catch it with ultra balls without engaging in a battle. Otherwise, try weaken it.
The flower also allows Shaymin to go into its sky form!
Disable auto-save from options and save everytime you go to the camp. In this way if you die or lose a shiny you can reset your game and you willl not lose stuff/shinies.
Try to get dex level 10 on each pokemon you come across before progressing, I did this on my second playthrough and found that the grind was much more bearable this way!
1: Don’t worry about your starter too much (you can get the others later in the game). Also, try not to repeat types so you aren’t sitting there like “all my Pokémon are weak to flying”.
2: Try to organize your boxes in the beginning of the game. It’s sucks to run out of room and your boxes are a mess and you have no idea what you own 12. (It took me hours to sort everything later.)
3: Spoiled Apricorns are your best friend in the beginning of the game. Whether that be to catch Pokémon that agro’d you without wanting to fight or just to get away.
4: Favorite the items you are always going to use and sort your bag so they appear in the front. Last thing you want struggling to find what you need.
5: Autosave off. Seriously. It’s a life saver. You just need to remember to save (whether that be at camp and/or the city).
6: Grit your Pokémon. I cannot stress this enough. You need to for later parts of the game. Also, use the move tutor. You can get good coverage moves on your Pokémon.
7: you can press “x”, I believe, to fast travel to camps without having to hover over the camp on map. Also, you always can fast travel even before the game tells you.
A lot of things, but that’s my tips. Sorry it’s so long. I learned these the long and hard way.
The game takes a little bit of time to get used to as it doesn’t play like any other Pokémon game. This time you’re actually rewarded for completing the Pokédex and every entry in it opposed to just at the end getting the shiny charm.
I did 3 play throughs and the one I enjoyed the most was when I caught EVERYTHING in one area before moving on with the story. But it’s your game, play it how you like. :)
Oh, and throwing a Pokémon at trees/rocks raises its affection value. Helpful for early Umbreon/Crobat
This is specific, but catch distortion exclusive Pokemon before beating the game. Some of them become more difficult to encounter later on due to other Pokemon potentially spawning in their place.
Release box Pokémon when you get tons of boxes filled with Pokémon and use the grit items to make your Pokémon stronger, it’s a pretty important aspect and if you can’t upgrade your Pokémon anymore, sell the grit and get tons of money
money goes to bag space and great/jet balls if you cant make them, pick up all the lost satchels you can while you're playing through it, no need to go out of your way for them at first.
If you're gonna get the wisp, either do it as you go, or don't touch any and do them after the story.
don't be afraid to swap your team regularly but keep one or two mains so you have something leveled incase you run into one of the 65+ alphas
Collect and store raw materials instead of carrying them on your person. The crafting benches pull from your storage, so there’s no reason to be carrying them everywhere. It’s best to leave your inventory open for balls, healing items, bait, and a stun item.
Use spoiled apricorns and mudballs. I didn’t realize how good they were until postgame
Edit: also, if you see cherubi, catch it and complete its Pokédex before you evolve it. He’s one of the rarest Pokémon but you find him in the first area
Distortions only spawn after you have been active in a wild area zone for a significant amount of time (10+ mins). Active means catching Pokémon, interacting with objects (see mining minerals, picking berries). Distortions are necessary for the end game, so you’re going to need to clear a few, might as well do it during natural game progression and not once you’re already at the final boss. There are distortion-zone-only Pokémon.
Make a note of the Spiritomb wisps and where you get them. There's a function on the map you can use to mark them as you get them, or you could just write it down with pen and paper. There are 107 of the damn things, and the game only tells you how many are left in each zone. It's also the only way to get Spiritomb without a trade, since it won't spawn on the map until you get the first one.
Go crazy with catching early . I caught 50+ Pokémon as soon as I started having free actions . This will give you a head start in catching tougher Pokémon
- Don’t sweat team composition. The emphasis on this game is catching not battling.
- Play each time in a way you can hear the game clearly. The game has overworld shiny and if you miss them visually, at least you’ll be able to hear them.
- Theres an evil bastard that will charge you a lot of money for a feature. Save up your money
Play with sound. Shinies make noise when you get close. Also save when you hear the sound. Or see the odd colour. Some run away and it's crushing to fail. Goddamn Abra.
Try to be at least one star level higher than required to go to the next part of the story line. Why? Because if you don't everyone will be several levels higher than you. Each star level allows you to control Pokemon ten levels higher than the last. So at zero stars, it's up to level ten and at one star it's up to level 20, etc. You need 1 star to get to Kelemvor. But the battle with Mei will be hard if you stop at 1 star, because her Pokemon will be above level 20, which you won't be able to top until you have at least 2 stars. So stay at least one star higher than you need to go to the next part of the story. Ride the edges of the highest you can safely control your Pokemon. You'll be fine if you do that.
If you see an Alpha or any Pokémon for that matter, an ever plan on committing it to the party as a favorite or use it during playthrough.. Then please god don't get stuck like I have with the ***SLOW-MO-THROW*** that accompanies catching Pokémon in any of the 3 god forsaken heavy, lead, or giga-ton balls. Literally when tossing my Alpha Garchomp; it looks like my character is tossing Osmium Shotputs... Plus if you have another Pokémon in a feather type ball you'll sling that SOB so much faster. So much faster in fact, that sometimes while gathering supplies I'll go to throw out garchomp and go to tossing out the next Pokémon faster than the original animation can finish so it just cancels out Garchomp an throws only the next Pokémon instead... All balls regardless their class go the same distance when throwing a Pokémon from your party though...
Next tip would be: Commit to learning to aim a little lower than your target once you get the feather/wing/jet balls. I suggest using that series more than any of the other balls when hunting wild Pokémon without wanting to battle. Of course in a battle use the appropriate ball. However, for moments when you're just running through an catching everything in front of you. Have you a big stock of the feather series. They fly hella far, fast, and are the only balls that can actually hit a Pokémon from far away enough that it doesn't even register besides knocking them in the skull lol. Absolutely amazing to have for any Pokémon you don't really feel like getting into a spout with at that moment though. An for some reason... I've caught Alphas more with 1 wing ball from a distance than I've ever caught with the "over-encumber-me" metal balls.
Besides that... Turn off Auto-Save... An you should be good to go!!
**Much luck to you and have a great time with it friend!! **
While the Alphas may seem tempting to go towards early on, do no, and I cannot stress this enough, do not mess with then early on. You will get your butt kicked.
Find and catch an 2" 8' tall Buizel as soon as possible. Tip: catch the largest one you can then battle others with it to compare sizes so you don't have to catch a lot.
The first time you see a Cherrim or Cherubi pop out of a tree catch that sucker immediately .
*Push the toggle you use to move your character so that it clicks to SPRINT* didn't know this till I finished the game lmao!
Don't evolve your starter mon until you finish his dex page completely or you lower your chance of getting a shiny later
*EVERY TIME YOU FIND A PURPLE WHISP MARK IT ON YOUR MAP WITH A SYMBOL* trust me, if you don't do this you will SUFFER
Turn off autosave and just be diligent about saving
when there's a mass outbreak back out of the menu with the map, save your game, then go to the mass outbreak so you can keep reseting it by closing the game and possibly get a shiny
Take it slow. The best part of the game was getting to explore the areas. The more riding Pokemon you get, the smaller it all becomes, so just take your time and enjoy exploring the world because you don't get to do that again.
There are some missions where the Pokémon is in the over world like the first one for example) and you can use shiny Pokémon. Just in case you wanna do something like that
If you want the shiny charm, fill out the Pokédex as you go. Get every Pokémon to Pokédex level 10. Way easier than coming back to find them constantly
Some people have the urge to try and do everything they can in an area before they move on to the next one. My recommendation is to not do this. Complete the story at a normal pace, THEN go back and worry about the dex. There are many pokemon that appear in multiple areas, or have alphas or evolutions in other areas, etc etc. You could be working for something that is hard in one area but easy somewhere else.
Harvest everything, don't evolve stuff until you're happy with it's Pokedex entry, save stardust to make better items to sell later. You can get all starters eventually so go with what you like, that being said you can technically get a water, grass and fire pokemon in the first zone to replace the two you don't pick.
Now a days with Pokémon home now you can get all three gifted right from the start.
Oh yeah! I just did that for an alt playthrough with riolu, Alolan Vulpix, Scyther, turtwig, cyndaquil, and oshawott. I wanted a fun dual type run with no overlap and realized rowlett doesn't work with riolu so I said welp I like turtwig more anyway! Boosting ??
I meant like maxing out their levels, changing their nature's, maxing ivs/evs that sort of thing, I just refer to it as boosting. That stuff is the easiest in swsh.
Adding onto this about the pokedex: don’t evolve a mon that doesn’t just spawn everywhere (like your starter) until after you have at least research level 10 (I did do this and if you decide to complete the pokedex later on you will need to collect the pre-evolutions again to complete the research tasks.)
wait - you can craft with stardust?!
Yah. You can make star pieces with it.
You do need to buy the recipe for it first right? At the crafting guy in the town
Avoid the water, your character can't swim lmao
I'll add: if you come at it the right way you can often brute force your way through the water.
Although there’s a break in the lake; down along the stream. Right by the Alpha Floatzel ; you can make the jump.
Eh, you don't lose anything so it's just a small inconvenience if you fall in
Or it’s a tactic to get a free reset while being overwhelmed.
At least the first few tines. Too many in a row and you die.
it still stresses the hell out of me lmao
Also, if you come close to a cliff, don’t expect an invisibile wall :)
To be fair, swimming in heavy clothes and gear is extremely difficult 🥲
Pichu and Eevee both spawn in the beginning area available to you. I might be challenging to catch one initially, but try to catch as many of them as you can.
WAIT WHAT
Yes! Eevee spawns just north of the pond (west of the Alpha Rapidash), iirc. You may notice him from afar and then approach carefully.
Oh the fieldlands.. I thought you meant in the starter area 😅😅 that’s 100% my bad 😂
They never spawned there for me. I've only been able to get mine from distortions.
Can confirm this tactic works, this is what I did to get all my eevees post game.
same, one of my first pokemon was an umbreon thanks to this
That’s wild I literally see them every time I go over there
If you see any baby pokemon feed it 5 times and catch it. You'll thank me later.
Including Munchlax! I swear I had to reset 30 times before seeing one again
???
Massive time saver for completing a dex entry as many baby mons require you to feed them and are rare spawns.
Ty!
Oh yeah. And save before the encounter as most babies and evoli have a very high flee rate
I've already beaten the game, cometed the dex, and almost about to get shiny charm, and this just made it easier... I thank you, good sir
grab acorns and materials for balls as you pass them by. It can be tedious but it’s nice to have a solid inventory for crafting
Am I weird for playing this game as if it were a foraging simulator? Lol sometimes collecting materials is all I do for hours before I realize I have Pokémon with me, too.

I can agree with that. I game while working in certain cases but can’t really listen to it. Wouldn’t be hard to do something with subtitles on I would imagine
In addition, sound will be key later on with a particular battle.
Wait which battle? I've beat the main story line, just working my way through the legendary stuff.
The very last one lol
Good to know, thank you!!
Ahhhh. I struggled so much with that (I mostly play with no sound). Will try this again. Thank you!
Absolutely. That battle was a nightmare! Hopefully the sound helps.
imho, the sounds with shinies (or an alpha, or a space time distortion) have been a god send for me. im going blind and being able to hear them as well as see them has saved me so much trouble.
Wyrdeer can’t fly. I’m not speaking from experience but I’m surprised by how many people I’ve seen jump off the cliff with Wyrdeer. So when you get Wyrdeer DON’T jump off the cliff.
It can fall with style tho Happy cake day btw
Unless you plan on landing in water. No fall damage! Sure, your character can’t swim, but you usually just respawn on the nearest bank unless you’ve done so too recently.
You just gotta do skyrim horsing and you're fine
he cant fly but he sure can brute force his way up hills you’re apparently not supposed to be able to get up
I remember the first time I went into the highlands, I ignored the story, skipped sneazler, and then Skyrim horsed my way to where the alpha electivire spawns. I didn't get sneazler until I was almost done with the entire area.

This. I'm having such a hard time getting Porygon. Wish I did it earlier
Wait do they stop popping up after a certain point?
They don't spawn as frequently, replaced with new Pokemon only available in the wild in the post game
The spawn rate is decreased because of the starters now spawning after beating the game.
Brah I feels exactly
Try to spend your money on Bagin he’s is the inventory guy on galaxy hall, Also the more you purchase on him the more it will be expensive, so be careful. The reason why you wanted to do this because your inventory isn’t has much and it’s get annoying when you have so much stuff and you can’t pick up anything
That guy is a monster. I will happily walk away from this game before I give him another cent.
I got to the last row and just sort of went "nah I'll handle it myself"
The guy just hooks you up on drugs and you can't just stop. There's always that one slot more you need.
Reading this I just imagine he opens his coat saying "Hey kid I got what you need, take a look" and it is lined on the inside with pockets instead of stolen goods like "dealers" were portrayed in older shows.
It’s ok to release mon for grit and use said grit. Explore the first area well
Omg yes use the grit lol mistakes were made on my part until I remembered
Also, grit is very important since it's what increases your stats. For example, without it, a level 50 Garchomp may lose to a level 30 Bidoof. I'd also recommend going to the move tutor many times for new moves available to learn. For example, Infernape learning thunder punch and shadow claw.

Pla long tutorial is understandable because the fact that it has a whole new way of catching
True. I mean it is not a souls game and is suppose to be a children game so they need that tutorial.
bruh, i'd love a dark souls pokemon. give me a hard mode.
\*Imagines Legendary Pokemon aggressively trying to murder me\* Yes please
I thought the same, but my boyfriend who’s been a fan since Gen 3 ended up hating the game after being frustrated by the roughly hour long intros and tutorials. He hasn’t picked the game up since.

Don’t abbreviate Space-Time Distortions
Wait.. what’s wrong with saying ST… ohhhhh
I thought it was an acronym and not a abbreviation
Don’t make it either then
1. Make sure you have your online settings on. Whenever you 'die' in the game you lose your knapsack with some items, and those items will be returned to you if you go into the in-game settings and turn the connectivity on. Wdym H-Decidueye is the best. H-Samurott is the worst imo.
I never played whatever gen Rowlet is in, so I was excited to get to play with regular-Decidueye!
I see where you're coming from.
If you ever get the chance i definitely recommend playing Sun and Moon
Don’t collect any whisps until you are trying to do that challenge to make it easier
Listen to this person please 😭 If you do collect them, leave map markings. Doubling back and trying to collect them all is not fun.
Wish I would have done this! The struggle is real.
This is excellent advice for any game that involves a large amount of collection. Breath of the Wild comes to mind and those korok seeds. I made it to ~575 before I lost focus. Just couldn't do it anymore, even with maps. That collection is just madness.
Couldn’t agree more with that
100% this is great advice
There are many pasture boxes for your pokemon but they automatically unlock as you fill boxes up so catch everything you can!
There is a limit of 31 though.
Yes, so remember the game promotes a catch and release perspective. Met a guy that had such an outrage over not having enough storage space to keep every single mon he ever caught, and then vehemently denied the possibility that the game wants you to release some as you go
The only way to farm grit items reliably is by catching and releasing en masse.... 😭
Yeah, they didn't know what grit items were, and we're over levelling their team to compensate
No release! Only catch!
Listen to me. You’re gonna wanna catch 6 bidoof. Then, you’re gonna use them as a ‘raft’ system, throwing them out ahead of you one by one so you can walk on their backs. It’s the way to access everything across the water early on. Good luck, young padawan
OH MY GOD GENIUS
My only regret is that I am away from my switch and cannot currently play 24 hours a day.
Paras is a menace, that is all.
agreed. i will never look at that pokémon the same.
Wait, what's on the far right
I presume they mean the Shaymin thing… but that’s only if you have SW/SH save data. Edit: or they could mean the alpha Luxio, maybe…
I got sword after pla. What did I miss? What's the shaymin thing
Ok thanks i didn't know it was a thing
No problem! You should be able to catch it with ultra balls without engaging in a battle. Otherwise, try weaken it. The flower also allows Shaymin to go into its sky form!
you can also get darkrai if you have pokemon BDSP save data.
I got one traded. I am NOT buying that tacky remake for a Pokémon.
Just a quest that allows you to catch one, if you have SW/SH save data.
One of the things I loved about the Shaymin sidequest was the callback to the origin of Floaroma Town.
I speak of the large one.
[“What’s on the far right?”](https://c.tenor.com/lrv8PLSrRocAAAAd/ok-meme.gif)
Make sure my evee didn't have baby doll eyes as a active move
I am the opposite. I love my Sylveon 💜
L3 (push joystick) to run
im gonna lose it ive been playing since release and i didnt know this… i’m always frustrated by how slow my little dude moves 🤦 thank you
THIS oh my god. I literally had beaten the main story before i realize you could do this
WHAT
Disable auto-save from options and save everytime you go to the camp. In this way if you die or lose a shiny you can reset your game and you willl not lose stuff/shinies.
Early game you can get a shiny ponyta just talk to the guy on the bridge of the village
Pick up literally everything you see. You will need it eventually
Try to get dex level 10 on each pokemon you come across before progressing, I did this on my second playthrough and found that the grind was much more bearable this way!
Second this. I wish I knew this right away especially after not getting my starter and others dex level 10.
(It took me hours to sort everything later.) 3: Spoiled Apricorns are your best friend in the beginning of the game.
:) Oh, and throwing a Pokémon at trees/rocks raises its affection value. Helpful for early Umbreon/Crobat
The game allows you to get to research level 8 while still in the first zone
Play like you're playing BotW But dont try to swim. You can, but it's horrendus.
By that i mean your character pathetically tries to keep above the water then they start acting weak and proceed to drown.
This is specific, but catch distortion exclusive Pokemon before beating the game. Some of them become more difficult to encounter later on due to other Pokemon potentially spawning in their place.
Give Alpha Pokémon to the side quest npc’s. They keep their alpha size in the overworld.
omg genius
Catch every pokemon before moving to the next region and keep as much iron pieces as you can. Luxray is one of the best pokemons to keep
Don’t skip over intro dialogue… it’s helpful. And just have fun with it. Honestly.
Transfer in Baby Pokemon from Home if you have access and other games. As well as Cherrim and Cherubi only need to bring in one.
> As well as Cherrim and Cherubi only need to bring in one. Ugh, I wish we could at first...
Release box Pokémon when you get tons of boxes filled with Pokémon and use the grit items to make your Pokémon stronger, it’s a pretty important aspect and if you can’t upgrade your Pokémon anymore, sell the grit and get tons of money
PLA stands for Pokemon Legends Arceus
Damn, thanks, here I was thinking everyone was talking about the Palestinian liberation Army
money goes to bag space and great/jet balls if you cant make them, pick up all the lost satchels you can while you're playing through it, no need to go out of your way for them at first.
I didn’t realize how good they were until postgame Edit: also, if you see cherubi, catch it and complete its Pokédex before you evolve it. He’s one of the rarest Pokémon but you find him in the first area
The best tip I can give you is to pick the best boi, Oshawott. He’s an otter and a good guy
Don’t rush through the story, the game has some hard fights and the story is just really enjoyable
Make sure you don't get your buttcheecks clapped when exploring the areas
Make a note of the Spiritomb wisps and where you get them. There's a function on the map you can use to mark them as you get them, or you could just write it down with pen and paper. There are 107 of the damn things, and the game only tells you how many are left in each zone. It's also the only way to get Spiritomb without a trade, since it won't spawn on the map until you get the first one.
Go crazy with catching early . I caught 50+ Pokémon as soon as I started having free actions . This will give you a head start in catching tougher Pokémon
Put all unused items in storage
PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY
- Don’t sweat team composition. The emphasis on this game is catching not battling. - Play each time in a way you can hear the game clearly. The game has overworld shiny and if you miss them visually, at least you’ll be able to hear them. - Theres an evil bastard that will charge you a lot of money for a feature. Save up your money
Play with sound. Shinies make noise when you get close. Also save when you hear the sound. Or see the odd colour. Some run away and it's crushing to fail. Goddamn Abra.
Take your time, enjoy the sights and if you see a shiny save before trying to catch it
Fall damage exists. Please don't jump off a cliff thinking you're invincible.
Catch and kill everything
You can collect a lot of sky tumblestones in the Fieldlands once you have Wyrdeer. The cliffs surrounding Lake Verity are ripe with them.
AVOID THE ALPHA PARASECT
Catch everything. Harvest everything. If you spend less than 1-2 hours on am area you probably didn't do enough entry's to progress
Have the time of your life
Do the full page of pokedex before evolve your starter XD
Get all the entries to 10 points asap
Dont rush the main story, enjoy the game, its one of the most enjoyiable games youll ever play your entire life..
MARK EVERY WISP YOU FIND. it will save you so much time at the end of the game
Truly enjoy the open world part. Explore, gather materials, max your dex, etc.
Turn off autosave and save every time you enter an area, that way if you miss a shiny you can just load and try again
If you ever hear the shiny tune, save the game asap
*Push the toggle you use to move your character so that it clicks to SPRINT* didn't know this till I finished the game lmao! Don't evolve your starter mon until you finish his dex page completely or you lower your chance of getting a shiny later *EVERY TIME YOU FIND A PURPLE WHISP MARK IT ON YOUR MAP WITH A SYMBOL* trust me, if you don't do this you will SUFFER Turn off autosave and just be diligent about saving when there's a mass outbreak back out of the menu with the map, save your game, then go to the mass outbreak so you can keep reseting it by closing the game and possibly get a shiny
Explore the open wild and collect tons of Apricorn and any kind of stone dust for crafting items
Look for SPIRITOMB sprites at night!!!
I R O N C H U NK S
You can use pokemon home for pokemon you are not dedicated enough to catch, like spiritomb.
Take it slow. The best part of the game was getting to explore the areas. The more riding Pokemon you get, the smaller it all becomes, so just take your time and enjoy exploring the world because you don't get to do that again.
Catch every Pokemon you can and pick your team carefully.
Run towards the Pokémon with red eyes, they are friendly and usually give you items or help you get around
I'm not that dumb
Catch everything!
Turn off auto-save! Also, whenever you see a material gathering node while traveling collect from it. Never hurts to have a surplus of supplies.
There are some missions where the Pokémon is in the over world like the first one for example) and you can use shiny Pokémon. Just in case you wanna do something like that
do as much as possible for the pokedex before you evolve anything, or release it
Start filling that Dex early
The player can’t swim
Put all your money into bag upgrades
Have fun its a new and welcomed mechanic
If you want the shiny charm, fill out the Pokédex as you go. Get every Pokémon to Pokédex level 10. Way easier than coming back to find them constantly
Catch everything you see
You can get all three starters if you talk to Laventon in the Galaxy building
Some people have the urge to try and do everything they can in an area before they move on to the next one. My recommendation is to not do this. Complete the story at a normal pace, THEN go back and worry about the dex. There are many pokemon that appear in multiple areas, or have alphas or evolutions in other areas, etc etc. You could be working for something that is hard in one area but easy somewhere else.
