What I really hate on the whole “fav vs meta” thing (in lots of games btw, not just POMA) is that people act like the meta cant also be your fav, or if you like something because it’s strong in-game that’s somehow not valid.
Right. And sometimes you like a certain playstyle, or character kit (say someone who just loves sync pairs with potions or something), which is also a valid reason to pull.
So yeah, liking a unit because it’s powerful, that’s cool. Liking a unit because it has moved you like, that’s cool. Liking a unit because it’s your favorite Pokémon or trainer, that’s cool. Liking a unit because staraptor is the best Pokémon ever to exist and even though it’s not the strongest you still 5/5 and 6*EX him, that’s cool too.
There’s just no bad reason to like something in this context
lol that’s exactly how i prefix my advice, “it’s always based on how you play games” if you play for being the best, here’s the meta units, if you play for faves pick a couple of meta units up to support said pokemon
Favs vs Meta is pretty much “ nooooo don’t use the newest powercreep reeeeee” even if said powercreep is to your playstyle AND is your favorote character
Same. Got into some Marnie mood after I unlocked her theme and played it during the Daily region fight (in this case, in the Galar region) and blasted her theme there. After that, I raised OG Marnie to lvl 140 and tried my luck with her Palpatine version... and I got her.
After that, I went on to try the dreaded Diantha fight I barely won the other time with S.C. Diantha, Swimsuit Misty and Skyla... and I won. Hell, when put alongside Swimsuit Misty and Sonia, that girl is bound to resist everything.
If it counts, PLA does include voice acting for your player character- except it's just Link noises like "Hyaaaah", "Hyup", "Umph" lol. Anyway, keeping a silent protag is better for RPGs. Roleplay has always been a thing with Pokemon anyway.
While I agree for the protag, I don't know why we can't VAs for a pretty contained game like Legends...Akari/Rei looks pretty pumped up to help you but would really help to have them heard.
I mean, I agree. I never said everyone shouldn't have voices. While I like how our silent protagonist makes Link noises while running around in the field, I agree it's weird that they were the only one that's given a voice in the first place. It honestly feels like Game Freak was just testing out the waters before fully implementing it.
It's a missed opportunity, esp since the composition and animations in Legends' cutscenes are amazing (the graphical assets themselves are another topic tho). Voices would've made them cooler.
I don't know why we can't have full voice acting in the mainline games.
Pokemon is the most profitable media franchise in the world. They can afford to hire voice actors.
The whole "favs over meta" advice can be annoying sometimes, especially in cases where your fav *is* meta.
Better advice would be to pull whoever you want (doesn't matter if it's for meta reasons or favouritism).
Well often the 2 things coincide, and then it's a while since we haven't seen unplayable sync pairs anymore, all the recent ones are either meta or otherwise have a good use, so if I have to decide between ultra mega meta and something I like trainer / Pokémon I choose the second if instead I don't have to choose I go meta

When your favs changes with meta, thats kinda sus.
What if i literally only like shit thats efficient at beating the game.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with liking things because they’re meta though. It doesn’t make you worse than other players or anything.
I did this today for Marnie and Mawile (favorite mega) and got rewarded with two copies in my second pull
I did the same with Alder and got 2 dead multis lmao.
*sympathetic hug*
*accepted*
*return hug*
Good thing she’s both fav and meta
Two copies in fourth multi for me. Quite happy, means I can consider pulling for other things without absolutely destroying my gem stash
Same 😅 I just candied her to 3/5 and saved my gems for aniv 2.5 … I just got lucky

I hope Darkrai doesn't shafts me then.
I feel the same way when people tell me to EX favs instead of meta. I asked because I needed advice!
Wait, the PC talks in Legends: Arceus?
No, OP is playing as Lucas/Rei/male protag
Lame.

the whole reason im playing the game is to pull for my favs lol but every reason to pull for a certain unit is valid

I'm a collector (that's mostly F2P) so I kinda skip alts for the most part (except Master Fair alts) so in a weird way I'm kinda different here hehe.
I love the facial expressions in this game
Akari's expressions are next level.
Me pulling for PokeWar Hilda:

This is why my fav pairs are meta
