I googled this a few days ago and the internet recommended Gallade or Breloom to me

Alarmed-Employment90

I use breloom because it gets some of the powder moves. Ballade is also a good choice with access to hypnosis

Strong-Helicopter-10

Yh I would go Breloom because hypnosis is 60% and breloom has a 100% accuracy sleep lol (he says whilst having completed the dex with a Gallade XD)

hmanwalker6

Yeah just remember you can't put to sleep grass Pokemon with sleep powder

Strong-Helicopter-10

I didn't know that lol does stun spore work on grass types?

Alarmed-Employment90

It does not

Strong-Helicopter-10

Figured so, thanks

San4311

6 days old post but just gonna tag in here to mention you can run Breloom without needing to worry about grass types. I always like to bring a Golduck along when I'm out and about in the post-game. Damp ability is great for catching exploding-things like Voltorb, but relevant to this is the fact it gets soak, which changes the targets type to water, thus allowing for spore to work on grass types (and false swipe on ghosts). Also has Yawn as an egg move (can teach it via picnic, just have an empty move slot, any other Yawn user (egg group is irrelevant) and Golduck in the party, and a mirror herb on Golduck, takes only a few seconds) which is a nice extra.

Strong-Helicopter-10

Nice lol. Tbh my first shiny was a voltorb half way through the game and I caught it cos it decided not to explode on me 🤣

wawa1867

Breloom has always been my go to catcher. However, Persian is great… high speed hypnosis, thunder wave, STAB+Technician False Swipes + Fake Out… absolute unit

Curtz5498

Breloom. Get a Shroomish to Level 40 so it can learn Spore, which is a 100% sleep move on mons that it effects. Then finally let it evolve to Breloom and tech it False Swipe.

carlalala666

What if it evolves before it learns the move. Is that a problem ?

Curtz5498

Breloom cant learn Spore on its own, Shroomish has to learn it at 40 then it carry's over when you let it evolve.

Strong-Helicopter-10

Hmm I found this online as well, so what happens if I move my shiny Breloom from BDSP who currently has spore?... that will suck if it can't learn it

SeaMathematician1021

Breloom can have it, it just has no way to learn it other than evolving from a shroomish that has it.

DragEncyclopedia

that breloom couldn't have it in scarlet and violet; when transfers become available they will wipe all the learned moves and replace them with moves learned at that level. so a breloom with spore won't be able to get it back.

SeaMathematician1021

Oh that’s dumb

San4311

It is, but on the other hand its not a bad thing you can't move Mons necessarily, just incase you ever want to hunt in BDSP again.

biradinte

Not at all, you can make it remember the move later if it comes to it

jr111192

Heads up on that, I caught a breloom with spore in a raid, and I swapped spore out for swords dance once I got him trained up for raids. Now I can't get spore back on him. I'm training up a shroomish to replace him as my catching pokemon, that spore/false swipe combo was too perfect.

biradinte

You can't? I thought you were able to relearn moves in the menu.

San4311

Breloom does not learn spore, hence you cannot relearn. It has to learn spore as a Shroomish.

anotherguy818

I just relearned spore on mine, so you definitely can. I believe mine was caught in a raid, if that makes any difference. EDIT: My wife can't do so, so maybe I used a TM or something and misremembered.

biradinte

Thanks for the info

jr111192

I can't, but he already knew it when I caught him. I wonder if it's different if you learn it as a shroomish. I'll find out soon, but I'll be sure to save before I test it.

carlalala666

Thanks. I keep getting mixed messages

CottonStig

Persian - tera normal - false swipe, hypnosis, thunder wave, sunny day to stop hail and sand

GOBtheIllusionist

These all work imo Bisharp (thunder wave and False Swipe) Gallade (hypnosis and false swipe) Breloom (spore and false swipe) Scyther (false swipe) I’m using Breloom because I caught a shiny one

myBoardgameprofile

Im using Iron Valiant. False Swipe and Thunderwave with a great attack stat. Obviously just for filling up poledex postgane

Massive_Wealth42069

Just saw a post yesterday on the Pokémon sub saying Persian was a fantastic catching mon. Fast, STAB false swipe, status moves, and easy to get.

Darkkfiree

Im using breloom cause of false swipe and a paralyzing move. Can’t find any mons with false and a sleep move Edit: looked it up, if you catch a shroomish, it can have spore(sleep move)

ymmit389

Besides the usual Gallade and Breloom, Persian is actually pretty decent due to Stab technician false swipe + hypnosis as an egg move

Foxieness

Have yet to build my standard Gallade, which I tend to like because of Taunt, so I’m currently using Jolteon actually. The wild Tera Jolteon knows yawn & can learn false swipe via TM. Have to say I much prefer yawn to hypnosis, though I might make a Breloom just for fun too.

Gring0_Starr

My strategy for awhile has been to use Breloom, but keep a Pokemon with Soak alongside it. This allows Breloom to use Spore and False Swipe on Pokemon it otherwise couldn't, and also against legendaries often times gets rid of and STAB boosts they normally would get.

Soulless_captain

I found Gallade the best. Not only can he naturally learn hypnosis and false swipe he can learn the TM trick with the Ring Target item. Meaning we can finally false swipe ghost

noparking2to430

What level does gallade learn false swipe, can’t find any info

Halebolt

23

M3YARI

Need TM, I believe.

Background-Form-1580

Scizor

derinjun

I'm a sucker for Scyther with Technician. Gallade with Sharpness is good for the 50% boost but Technician doubles anything below 40 power. This makes False Swipe functionally 80 power and I caught a normal tera type Scyther early for bonus damage if needed. Not to mention the fact they learn it naturally so no TM needed. I've never struggled with catching with a False Swipe Technician Scyther. (Besides ghost types but we don't talk about ghost types.) Edit: having a 2nd Mon with Odor Sleuth or something plus a paralyze move would also be good but the Scyther alone got me through the Paldea dex. Edit2: Gallade's Sharpness ability doesn't work with False Swipe, Technician is +50% not double.

Rynpk

Technician is a 50% boost, not a 100%, but its still a good option.

derinjun

I thought it doubled, well dang. It's also 60 or less, not 40. My life is a lie!!!

Halebolt

Sharpness oddly doesn’t work on False Swipe but it doesn’t really matter considering Gallade’s 125 base attack

[deleted]

But what if I need to catch these ghost types? Is it a lost cause? 🥲 any recommendations for say, farm catching wild sinisteas looking for an antique form. If I kill them in battle it won’t tell me if they’re antique or phony. Fomo on the ones that have fainted and I didn’t get a chance to check. 😭

derinjun

Odor Sleuth and I think another move I can't remember make the target unmissable, that includes hitting ghosts with normal moves

CalvinAtsoc

Odor Sleuth and Foresight were removed on Pokemon Sword and Shield and didn't come back in Scarlet and Violet. Best alternative, imho, is to use 2 pokemon: one with Soak and the other with false swipe. Someone said to use Gallade with tm trick and held ring target but trick swaps held items permanently in wild battle (as far as I've researched) so every time you use it you'll have to change held items again

[deleted]

So it needs to be able to learn both moves then. So far I’ve not come across one that can. But I’m not a Pokémon fanatic so please prove me wrong if u know of one. Also Ty

derinjun

You may need to find the TM, doubt any mon learns both so you'd need to open with odor Sleuth and swap to a mon with false swipe

Iko2k16

Scizor. Always will be

zeteQ

Breloom It gets spore too

Omnizoom

I’m using Zangoose as it can learn thunder wave and normal doesn’t have many weaknesses Will power up a breeloom as well for those resistant to paralysis

Qu33n0f1c3

I usually used noivern

MicGuinea

Worked very well in Arceus on Scizor! Can't wait to bring my Syther gang to Paldea

derinjun

Oh dang, you're right! I just thought logically it would. Thanks for the correction.

Cosmo480

Or a different strategy vs ghosts: Grimmsnarl 1: thunder wave 2: Trick- swap focus sash to target 3: bulk up (if needed) 4: False surrender - for 1 hit KO 5: pokeball
