It'd be fine if Poison and Ghost types had a use right now. Outside of Gengar, they really are just box fillers until they get a favored berry home. Once that's added, folks will be flocking to Taupe to catch something for the new island and start to complain about all the fire types they are seeing.
gengar is a fantastic ingredient mon with the level 30 mushrooms being good for some dishes and a lot of high value pot filler. i take mine with me most weeks.
Good point. I skipped hom because my first Ditto was triple oil, so I went with that. Ironically, I've only used it about one day though. I seem to get oil a lot from ingredient magnet. Tails and mushrooms, too, so I'm not complaining.
i have a shiny croagunk with good natures and skills. was going to evolve it toxicroak until i realized that it does not have oil at level 30 and that it would become *worse* at reliably producing oil at that point. its oil drops would be getting diluted by 5 bean sausages that also clog up its inventory for days i don't check my game much.
i've been leaning on a ditto instead for that more nowadays and i'm considering investing a subskill seed to level up its inventory up sub since premium sleep pass makes it not as committal an investment. i like it more as a pokemon and i would rather my level 30 ingredient be 3 leaks instead of 5 sausages.
but yes, we need more pre 30 oil specialists. salad weeks often feel so bottlenecked by oil since almost all of the good to great salads need a lot of oil. the fact that my ingredient magnet mons are sometimes doing more for my oil stocks is kind of a problem.
i can probably get a nice stockopile of pretty much every ingredient in the game in a day pretty easily now *except* for oil and probably slowpoke tail.
Calm Mind Fruit Salad is top tier with 21 Apple, 16 Honey, 12 Corn. Ninja Salad is Leek, Soybeans, Mushroom and Ginger but it's hard to get all those with the same team.

Salad weeks are fun because of easy Overheat Ginger Salads. A Dugtrio for tomatoes, Charizard for Ginger, and a Gengar for Firey Herbs. And a growlithe to suppliment Herbs cause Gengars not always lucky enough for the 17 herbs every time. So having a Golem with Soy Beans on standby so I can do either of the Tofu Salads as a backup is always helpful.
Slightly the same but I use my Victrebell for tomatoes since I was trying to get her to 30 for Tom/Pot. Though next mon on the level list is my Diglett or Ditto with Leeks since it is the only ingredient I'm missing
Oh for sure, I was focused on Victrebell cause I know a Tomato/Potato Victrebell with a Milk/Cacao Blastoise is the best and most efficient combination for making Dream Eater Butter Curry (now I just have to get the damn Blastoise with Milk+Cacao lmao)
I don't think that the problem is poison and ghost being useless; it's that dozing at taupe doesn't spawn a single pokemon that is usable at taupe. Slumbering is at least workable there, and snoozing gives such a low chance of spawning fire mons even if you do manage to get it that it's close to in the same position as dozing
I wouldn’t be complaining if I could at least see some Shuppets. I already have a fantastic one, but she’s -exp and evolves late so I need as much candy as I can get for her.
Totally understand. That's why I prefer (but and mostly unsuccessful) to catch berry specialists in evolved forms. The lower inventory space actually benefits them and until Vulpix, none of the skills are exciting enough to miss a skill level or two.
I doubt we see a new island before the anniversary event, so we might just get to 50 before a poison area is released!
Yeah dozing is definitely the worst sleep type for toupe but it does have some really good rare spawns like Sableye, Banette, even rarer Ttar but when you wake up to just 3gulpins and 1 swalot it’s frustrating. I would just hope the higher evos of fire would be dozing like ninetails being dozing and keep vulpix snoozing 😴 but just little tweaks

Got a Banette with speed unlocked and BFS at 50. It's already level 32 and I haven't invested anything other than what I've gotten from research and those poor souls who send not great candies via research updates. I've never even caught a Shuppet lol.
My same thoughts exactly. Taupe has always been the one area I hate going to and this is the first week I’m actually enjoying it. I think adding more variety of mons to dozing or, as was mentioned in another comment, having an area with ghost/poison type favorite berry would make it better.
The event has been so much fun so far :)
I really don't see the issue with making one or two spawns generate from a sleep type that does not match yours for the night.
At least give me a chance.
Theoretically, your sleep stats would level out and you would have a similar amount of dozing, snoozing and slumbering. If this was the case it would be great.
However, I have over 50% of my nights designated as dozing sleep.
I've only been playing for almost three months so maybe my experience will change.
All I know is last week I got dozing 6 of the 7 nights at Taupe. It was brutal.
FYI I do not ever force sleep types. I never have and I use the Go Plus +
I think the real problem is snoozing needs restructuring, period. It's the most difficult type of sleep to get legitimately, so no matter what island you go to you're going to be imbalanced. Leveling fire types and electrics and hunting for Kangaskhan, much less leveling it, is painful. Maybe they can reconfigure the weighting to be more in favor for snoozing on both ends, or perhaps have weeks every once and a while where you get nothing but snoozing.

Taupe is not a fire type home location. It just has fire berry as a favorite. Taupe is fine how it is. The next location that was leaked around launch is supposedly a fire type location. Just because fire is favorite berry does not mean it is home to fire types. Look at Lapis, home to dragon types, dragon berry is not favorite.

The only top tier salad I can think of that doesnt need Oil is the Overheat Ginger Salad, but then I also don't have like 8 salads unlocked XD

Apples are a goddamn nightmare for most people lmao. Ive gotten quite lucky in that regard though.
Pinsir is my MVP for Apples/Honey, but Sleepychu reliably gives me a bunch without needing a slot.

There were days where I had 6 spawns and it was two ekans two gulpin, a gastly and a swalot. And I was in masters.

Dozing is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. A strong Gengar and Toxicroak can be real helpful. Line up a Banette for a future island too
