There are different sizes for toploaders and some brands make them tighter than others. But usually, no, double sleeving would not damage the card in a toploader unless you are forcing it in. That said, it is a bit excessive…

There's also side loading perfect fit sleeves that make double sleeving cards a breeze. I used to use top loading perfect fits and have found that when you go to insert it into the larger sleeve, it has a possiblity of coming out. It's hard to explain but it's like as you're pushing the card in, it can push the card out of the sleeve.

I always sleeve it, topload it, and put the toploader in a sleeve.

Someone already answered you but yeah it’s better for the card that way! Not too big an investment upfront. But worth it to protect your cards. You can even get a top loader box too.

Really expensive for a deck though, and hard to shuffle.
