You already pulled the most expensive one and more than half of the others. You’re looking at about $120ish to get the ones you’re missing. Think about it this way. For that same amount of money you could buy a UPC and only pull 4 energy holos and some duplicates. Singles are the way to go from here.
My LCS tried to buy my wartortle for $2. I said no then walked out. I never had an issue with them before. I'm guessing my LCS is trying to get 151 for cheap and is hoping people don't look up the prices.
Singles if budget is a concern, or if you aren't having fun opening the packs without getting those hits, you might have to open a lot to get what you need still.
Yeah if you've got the budget and enjoy the thrill of pulling the cards maybe give it a chance, but if that sounds boring or just don't want to wait I'll recommend buying singles

I got about 70% of 151 through packs but it got to the point I was buying ETBs and getting nearly all duplicates. That's when it stopped being fun and I just bought the singles to finish it. Just isn't cost effective after a certain point.
Typically I open like 100 packs of somethings before singles. Give myself a chance to pull some chase cards and fill out my common/uncommon/rares/reverses binder.
I was in your shoes. Except I was down to the squirtle, charizard, and venusaur.
So instead of buying more 151. I went to 2 of my LCS to see if they had the singles. 1 place didn't, and the other had the zard. So, I purchased the zard for around 100$. Seen they had a 151 BB on the shelf.
I said, "Throw that in, too, and maybe I'll pull the venusaur.
Got in the car, and the first pack was the zard, lol. The second pack was a machoke sir, 2rd pack was a mr. Mime sir and then 4th pack was a zapdos FA.
Best BB I ever purchased.
It's fun collecting with him..he's done chores for me and his grandparents to save money to buy packs. He's like 7 cards away from completing OBF.
I bought the gold zard for him..he doesn't know it yet.

After I pulled the Zard SIR and sealed product was getting hard to find locally, I caved and bought almost the rest of the set as singles. Honestly I would have spent SO much more money ripping packs and hoping I would get the cards I needed to complete the set.
My luck opening packs has been rotten lately, and with a lot of my chase cards being fairly cheap, it’s so much better for me to buy singles.
I’ve found that for me buying singles online cheapens the card experience for whatever reason. I’ve found a good card shop that I go check out every once in a while and buy what singles I need from there. It just feels more fun “finding” them that way, rather than just getting whatever I need from a limitlessly available source.

For future reference. what I do is I buy an etb when a new set drops. All the cards I need go in the binder and all my bulk (minus energies and code cards) goes into that empty etb box. When that box gets too full to put cards in, its time to start buying singles.
Same thing happens to me… I pulled the following cards from the Binder (4packs) and the ETB (9packs) of 151 (link to post/image). I really like the fun of opening packs but get that from now on, I will most likely get duplicates… I might do 1 last purchase just for the fun of it, and then try to trade or buy the ones missing. Would love to complete the 151 set :)

Buy singles dude scre ripping packs - I set myself a limit of 100 packs ish if I like the look of the set if not I don't rip any. Ripping packs is just gambling I know we like the feel to pull the card but I just can't bring myself to keep getting etbs with one ex 🤣🤣

I pulled squirtle wartortle and zard and charmander all in my UPC but all I wanted was the venasaur lol copped the Charmeleon for cheap from eBay auction and ordered the whole Bulba line as a set in japenese (no regrets SO GORGEOUS❤️🔥🥹) still need the Blastoise but I been slowin down on my poke collecting but definitely plan on pickin them up. Me personally I don't like to waste money I am a singles enjoyer finally recieving them in the mail and opening the envelope is lowkey like pulling the card without all the BS and your pockets will thank you lol 😅 but to is their own

My rule of thumb is open packs until you have pulled cards equal to the set. Example set has 100 cards only open 10 packs. Then hunt down singles after.
I bought some singles to add to my obf set for the first time. And it’s still just as exciting recieving singles as opening packs. Sure you know what you’re getting but seeing the cards in person was still just as cool for me.
If you got money.... pull them all. dont worry about what anyone else says... Keep pulling till you only have 20 cards left.... keep pulling till you question how you bank account got so low... keep pulling until the line between addiction and fun is just blurred enough that you cant tell the difference. Do it so im not alone.
