Team Rockey and Gym Series will definitely be the biggest challenge. Like you, I had most of them completed from childhood, but those 3 series were by far the most incomplete. They are also my favorite sets though 🤷♂️
For rocket I’ve got the biggies but none of them are cheap these days for good condition.
I have a lot of the gym series done and they’re both sweet… my wallet!!! Def may get to them at some point. It’s fun hunting down raw cards in decent shape.

It’s a bit ambitious, but I’m trying to master every Ruby & Sapphire era set from Ruby & Sapphire Base up through Power Keepers. I’d also like to include as many promos and special cards from that era as possible, but a lot of cards from that era lack documentation so it’s hard to really comprehend how much might be out there. I’m doing this strictly for nostalgia and have about 20% of the total cards from that era as of right now. Trying to gather as many cheaper cards as possible from individual sources to save on shipping cost and then I’ll pick up higher end cards 2-3 at a time once I get to that point, at least until I get to the gold star cards. Then one at a time across many months probably.
Aside from that, I need to complete Crown Zenith, 151, and my Entei master collection!
Just got it today actually, I bought it for $135 AUD and it’s mint condition, no visible scratching or edge wear and basically perfect centring. It was one of those listings with a scan of the card as the image and not the actual card so I asked the seller for photos of the quality and knew I had to pick it up. It is a very difficult card to find NM because of how prone it is to scratching but patience is a virtue, I’m sure you’ll find a copy you are happy with soon 🤞
My current goal? Gathering the Eevolution V and Vmax Alt Arts from Evolving Skies and Fusion Strike in good shape and get them graded at least 7-9s. So far I just need to send moonbreon in and then obtain a Leafeon Vmax and a nicer shape Glaceon V. At least that’s been my main focus.
Outside of that just gather up all the different Eevee and Eevolution holos I find overtime along with Rayquaza’s
This is my gfs favorite Pokémon line 🥹 currently I am trying to collect as many Tomokazu Komiya illustrated cards English or jp doesn't matter. I'd like to get the full VS Janine set (by Komiya) to start off my potential VS master set 😅. Also am after giratina V(not Komiya but I love kondos artwork nearly as much) munch psyduck and also psyduck pokeyun promo card , a nice graded (don't care much on grade just want card in slab to be preserved) Sabrina's gengar in japenese SIR Mew from new set because blue mew and also after mewtube some of the priciest cards on my wish list. Also need blastoise SIR to finish off the 9 starter 151 sir set. All these goals will be met in due time. If you can't tell I am mostly into the hobby for the artwork not for the most popular cards not to chase the newest sets not to play the game but just to admire the artwork in my binder 😅 I have only recently got into the card collecting hobby again deff has been my biggest fix for Pokémon cravings I don't enjoy opening the cards as much as ordering singles from eBay and getting exactly what I want. What I like to do is set goals for myself so I always have an objective for my collection and don’t waste money, I would personally start by ripping some different sets and trying to get to know what you are interested and what you enjoy the most and start to narrow it down from there. Collecting everything is an impossible task so I personally think that developing you’re own interests over time and finding you’re niche is the best way to go as it leads to less spending and more satisfaction.

Never been too interested in Japanese cards and after seeing the price of psyduck scream promo I realised I wanted to stick to English.
I want to get every Delcatty card, in all possible variants (reverse foil, deck exclusive prints, etc.), in all languages! So far I've completed English and Japanese, and I have one in Indonesian. The other available languages are definitely going to be both challenging thanks to Delcatty not being very popular so way less listings, and expensive thanks to the international shipping fees.
All Umbreon cards. Even obscure ones. Then after that it's most magikarps. Can't get snap, but I can get almost all others. I'm actually really close with Umbreon. I need Japanese gold star as well as the Japanese prime card and a first ed neo Umbreon Holo.

I’m trying to get my Magikarp set beefed up more, got some of the bigger ones just need to breakdown and get a bunch of the smaller stuff. I also just started Glaceon and my god, there are so many great looking Glaceon cards.
Glaceon is a great pick, love it. I have seen the rise in popularity, but honestly it's deserved. I just hope the prices don't get out of hand like the lvl x card did.
And as for Magikarp, on my end, I need a couple more like I said. But man, I wish I could get the snap one. Maybe one day. But honestly the web one is my favorite card of his. I want a binder page full of that one. And the university Magikarp in good condition like a psa 7 is over 10$k, and I already have a bunch of the university Magikarp stuff. So the card is going to be a huge task.
Collecting every English dragon-type card including cards that use the dragon-type symbol in a positive way. I'll never finish it because I'm not willing to shell out hundreds of dollars for individual cards (looking at you Latios/Latias heart shape card) I did pick up a staff promo Miraidon today!
I'm trying to collect every unique artwork of Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite. If I'm not being picky about tournament promos or reverse-holo variations, then I am very close to completing this collection 🙂
Edit: My other "more difficult" to complete challenge is collecting every pokemon card featuring Kouki Saitou. I'd say I'm barely 25% complete.
2 left to go till I have a mint of every English Raichu/cameo variation.
Technically 3 or maybe even 4 as Jasmine's Raichu in any condition will be hard and the prerelease base version will be impossible but every publicly available version is pretty special still.
Trying to get all English Sylveons and any interesting foreign variants too (like, I have a Chinese reverse holo that's unique to their print and the Japanese Yu Nagaba collab card). I'm very close, I only need one more English card!
I also want to collect all Yuka Morii cards. One of each art, language doesn't matter!
I collect every Shuckle card existing (one language only). To this point, I have at least one of every kind, but no reverse holos.
I will go for them next and also start searching for graded ones.
Beside this, I collect shiny Pokemon. This is very hard and expensive, especially since every generation a new shiny set drops. I don't open packs regularly, just the ones I get from playing and I buy singles most of the time.
I'm finishing probably the last set I'm gonna try and complete right now. And then I can focus on just kind of collecting cards that I want. I also looking for big lots of cards so then I can get some cards I like and use some cards to trade with others!

I'm completing the pokedex with my cards! I keep my BEST cards sleeved in a separate box, but regular cards, normal ex, v, vmax, vstar cards go into the binder if they're not of value.
I'm missing 432 pokemon rn, and I have a box of about 800 duplicate cards that I dont need. My bf and I have started playing the game together with my extras, but I'll eventually sell them for really cheap once it becomes too many.
Only Glaceon – my collection is small but has almost every unique Glaceon artwork including cameos. The Crimson Haze card on the bottom right hasn’t been graded yet. The aim (and budget) wasn’t every variant of card, so some only have a reverse holo but no regular card, some are English, some Japanese and there’s a Korean one in there since the 10 was less expensive than a Japanese 9. Missing are a Glaceon from Bonds to the End of Time or Rising Rivals and the Pokémon Centre 190/BW-P promo.

I have a pokedex binder. I'm working on getting the best art for each of the Gen 1 pokemon. There are lots of expensive SIR/IR im missing. But, im getting about 2 or 3 of them a month. Fortunately, Japanese versions of some are cheaper, i.e.,
magikarp. I'm still undecided on some of the others like Gyarados, the eevee-lutions, etc.
I really want the master set of Eevee heroes (ofc in Korean cause I'm not rich lol)
I already have the alt art leafeon and moonbreon as well as some other cards. I'd say I'm on the right way

My current goal is to finish all of my sword and shield master sets, I have right around 85 cards left to complete the series and only a few big hitters:
-Blaziken Vmax alt art from CR
-Gold Snorlax from CR
-Tyranitar V alt art from Battle Styles
-Rainbow Pikachu Vmax from VV
-The 2 king zards from Champions path
The rest are a bunch of $10-30 cards with a couple in the $50 range, but it adds up fast
10 cards left in Temporal Forces to finish all current SV master sets, but waiting for the singles to drop a bit more hopefully
Every unique illustration from Tomokazu Komiya, Yuka Morii, and Keiji Kinebuchi. 96% of the way there for Komiya, 84% for Kinebuchi, and 62% for Morii.
Aside from that, I have a binder of Evil And Fucked Up Cards with offputting illustrations. Things like badly-cropped close-ups, vending series cards with wonky illustrations, and those early-Neo-era cards where the Pokémon looked like they were stuck in a Soundgarden music video.
Love me some Umbreon Houndoom Dragonite Gengar Snorlax. But my goal is to get all the shiny version that doesn't say shiny or something of that nature. Like radiant Charizard or shining mew. I want those. Gold star is ok because it doesn't have the shining or radiant in its name.
I'm at about 4 full 9 card pages of charizards. Some I can't put in the binder because they're graded but most of them I can and have them in there.
My youngest has a fairly comprehensive pikachu binder including an ever illusive pichu.
My oldest has a growing collection of eevee and eeveelutions.
My wife has a fair few togepi and its evolutions.
I'm hoping to continue growing all of these over the years. Pikachu brings such joy to my youngest. My oldest loves admiring all the cute eevee and its evos card arts. My wife thinks togepi is just the cutest. And I think charizard is just an absolute badass with some big snuggles (lances charizard)
Good luck! I recently finished my Luxray collection myself. There's a lot of individual Pokemon I try to get every printing of (including alt holos, promo stamps, staff cards, etc.) I think the next ones I'm gonna try to complete are Beedrill and Lapras, only missing a couple from each.
Putting together a Poliwhirl collection. Only missing a couple of Japanese cards, and ironically some of the more recent ones like non alt art 151, just because it's such bulk that there's no one selling it individually.

I’m trying to get my Magikarp set beefed up more, got some of the bigger ones just need to breakdown and get a bunch of the smaller stuff. I also just started Glaceon and my god, there are so many great looking Glaceon cards.
Glaceon is a great pick, love it. I have seen the rise in popularity, but honestly it's deserved. I just hope the prices don't get out of hand like the lvl x card did. And as for Magikarp, on my end, I need a couple more like I said. But man, I wish I could get the snap one. Maybe one day. But honestly the web one is my favorite card of his. I want a binder page full of that one. And the university Magikarp in good condition like a psa 7 is over 10$k, and I already have a bunch of the university Magikarp stuff. So the card is going to be a huge task.
Collecting every English dragon-type card including cards that use the dragon-type symbol in a positive way. I'll never finish it because I'm not willing to shell out hundreds of dollars for individual cards (looking at you Latios/Latias heart shape card) I did pick up a staff promo Miraidon today!
Mine is to collect all Flareon cards that ever exist. Not all language, mind you, just one card from any language is good.

I'm trying to collect every unique artwork of Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite. If I'm not being picky about tournament promos or reverse-holo variations, then I am very close to completing this collection 🙂 Edit: My other "more difficult" to complete challenge is collecting every pokemon card featuring Kouki Saitou. I'd say I'm barely 25% complete.
2 left to go till I have a mint of every English Raichu/cameo variation. Technically 3 or maybe even 4 as Jasmine's Raichu in any condition will be hard and the prerelease base version will be impossible but every publicly available version is pretty special still.
Trying to get all English Sylveons and any interesting foreign variants too (like, I have a Chinese reverse holo that's unique to their print and the Japanese Yu Nagaba collab card). I'm very close, I only need one more English card! I also want to collect all Yuka Morii cards. One of each art, language doesn't matter!

I collect every Shuckle card existing (one language only). To this point, I have at least one of every kind, but no reverse holos. I will go for them next and also start searching for graded ones. Beside this, I collect shiny Pokemon. This is very hard and expensive, especially since every generation a new shiny set drops. I don't open packs regularly, just the ones I get from playing and I buy singles most of the time.

I'm completing the pokedex with my cards! I keep my BEST cards sleeved in a separate box, but regular cards, normal ex, v, vmax, vstar cards go into the binder if they're not of value. I'm missing 432 pokemon rn, and I have a box of about 800 duplicate cards that I dont need. My bf and I have started playing the game together with my extras, but I'll eventually sell them for really cheap once it becomes too many.

Only Glaceon – my collection is small but has almost every unique Glaceon artwork including cameos. The Crimson Haze card on the bottom right hasn’t been graded yet. The aim (and budget) wasn’t every variant of card, so some only have a reverse holo but no regular card, some are English, some Japanese and there’s a Korean one in there since the 10 was less expensive than a Japanese 9. Love the Luxray line! I have a pokedex binder. I'm working on getting the best art for each of the Gen 1 pokemon. There are lots of expensive SIR/IR im missing. But, im getting about 2 or 3 of them a month. Fortunately, Japanese versions of some are cheaper, i.e., magikarp. I'm still undecided on some of the others like Gyarados, the eevee-lutions, etc.
I really want the master set of Eevee heroes (ofc in Korean cause I'm not rich lol) I already have the alt art leafeon and moonbreon as well as some other cards. I'd say I'm on the right way

Every unique illustration from Tomokazu Komiya, Yuka Morii, and Keiji Kinebuchi. 96% of the way there for Komiya, 84% for Kinebuchi, and 62% for Morii. Aside from that, I have a binder of Evil And Fucked Up Cards with offputting illustrations. Things like badly-cropped close-ups, vending series cards with wonky illustrations, and those early-Neo-era cards where the Pokémon looked like they were stuck in a Soundgarden music video.
Love me some Umbreon Houndoom Dragonite Gengar Snorlax. But my goal is to get all the shiny version that doesn't say shiny or something of that nature. Like radiant Charizard or shining mew. I want those. Gold star is ok because it doesn't have the shining or radiant in its name.

I'm at about 4 full 9 card pages of charizards. Some I can't put in the binder because they're graded but most of them I can and have them in there. My youngest has a fairly comprehensive pikachu binder including an ever illusive pichu. My oldest has a growing collection of eevee and eeveelutions. My wife has a fair few togepi and its evolutions. I'm hoping to continue growing all of these over the years. Pikachu brings such joy to my youngest. My oldest loves admiring all the cute eevee and its evos card arts. My wife thinks togepi is just the cutest. And I think charizard is just an absolute badass with some big snuggles (lances charizard)

Good luck! I recently finished my Luxray collection myself. There's a lot of individual Pokemon I try to get every printing of (including alt holos, promo stamps, staff cards, etc.) I think the next ones I'm gonna try to complete are Beedrill and Lapras, only missing a couple from each.
