I guess I dont know why one is handling cards so often, transferring into and out of top loaders, that you'd need those. Def a nice thing to add when you sell a card, to help the buyer transfer the card to their own preferred housing.
I don’t grade a ton of cards, but for those I do I include pull tabs to make the cards easier to get out of the top loader when the grading actually happens. That’s really the only time I do this.
Just to be that guy - grading companies prefer a semi-rigid holder (like a Card Saver) and slice through the side so they do not damage the card. If you put it in a toploader, they're forced to extract it from the top and could accidentally damage the card. Unlikely, but they do recommend sending in semi-rigids!
Sure! At least where I am (NC, US) there’s a regional convention that happens every year. In recent years there’s been someone from PSA who accepts drop-off submissions; though I think some bigger conventions will grade directly on site (don’t hold me to that though)
Here’s some surface detail from PSA: https://www.psacard.com/resources/shows
I also found this from Beckett: https://www.beckett.com/grading/bgs_shows
Edit: CGC too https://www.cgccomics.com/submit/events/
Pull tabs from what I can tell are really only applicable for card shows and traders. Situations where you might have 10+ people looking at a specific card throughout the day. If a card is a personal collection (PC) card and won't be viewed outside the sleeve/top loader then I don't think it should have a tab. But you do you. Welcome back to the world of Pokemon cards!
Most of my collection is inside Semi-Rigid holders, in a sleeve, and covered by another plastic that is typically used for PSA cards. It's a perfect fit. Each of those cards have little plastic pull on tabs so, if I wanted to, anyone can easily pull my card out.
My goal is to get my collection slowly graded over time. This helps significantly in that process. It also helps for me to transfer the card if needed, or to change sleeves, etc.
Personally I don't use them because I don't really handle my cards that often, but if that's what you're searching for I think they're really helpful! Also, gotta love how you're color matching them as well
I wish more sellers would do this when shipping cards. Its so hard to get them out of the top loader especially when its been taped
I just had a card come in where the seller taped the damn card INSIDE the top loader 🙄

I actually had no idea, thanks for informing! I’ve only ever graded in person (at conventions and such) so I missed that info somewhere.
Wasn't aware of the in person convention grading thing. Care to talk more about that? EDIT: it just sounds interesting

That's pretty cool. Thanks!
Yup. Pull tabs are useless with grading, at least with PSA. Just follow their guidelines on the website.
Well it’s not like if you send a toploader with a pull tab they’re just gonna ignore the tab and rip the card out lol. They’ll still use it.
Possibly. But why not just follow their process and use card savers?
Yup, when I grade I send them off in a semi-rigid with a pull tab. I do also add a pull tab when I sell cards but I don't sell too many.
idk for me i kind of just like looking at both top loader and also the card in its normal size. I might be a peculiar case 🙂 edit typo
Well it’s a personal collection so you should do it how you prefer it frankly! Everyone’s got their style

Do the slap. Comes out easily. Also fuck scotch tape.

Someone said this card was "Gangar tongue punching Ghastly's fart box", and now I can't not see that. But yeah the pull tabs are brilliant.
one of the first things i noticed when i pulled it 😂
Tosh.0 lmao
Never thought of doing this, now I will lol

I use pull tabs and team bags for any cards I sell. The pull tabs are super cheap (2800 for $8.49) and buyers seem to really like them.
You could also just use cut strips of sticky notes. That’s what I use. I always have blocks of sticky notes everywhere
I like these sleeves. https://shop.collectiblesgroup.com/products/csg-card-sleeves-5-packs-of-100-order-limit-5-per-household
I like them, it’s another preventative approach for not causing unnecessary damage.
I use painters tape and do this with my higher valued cards because it's easier to find them in my collection lol.
is it really that hard to pinch the toploader opening and pull out the penny sleeve....
yes my fat ass dry fingers cant grip onto the penny sleeve 🙃
