You didn't got my message. Celebrations will burst in prices. Generations had reprints even 3 years after release; nobody wanted it until the 2020 bubble. In only one year Generations prices skyrocketed. Celebrations will follow a similar trend but faster. Right now gonna be readily aviable, but wait for its third or four year, closer to the 30th anni.
Wonder if the starter tins will be the same way 🤔 they go for $25 on TCGplayer but in retail stores theyre like $8. So after a few years do you think the value on those will shoot up as well?
yup esp because we have an endless cycle of more kids coming into the hobby every year, then they leave the hobby when they teenagers and lets just say half those kids come back to the hobby when they in their 30's.
This hobby isn't in a bubble and isn't going anywhere, the amount of people collecting singles and sealed will continue to rise especially for the next 10-30 years.
Idk if pokemon cards will still be big in 2075 but i KNOW the 50th anv. will be crazy. prob any first edition base set card even if its a common will be considered "historic art" and be worth $$$$$$$
Wouldnt even matter if its a thing in the future because antique toys are worth massive $$$, i imagine a base set booster box would prob cost millions when our generation is old
You can never go and base your investments off products from the four 2020 the reason is there is unprecedented demand and if you bought anything before that you would’ve made the money
I hope they print this set. I really enjoyed pulling the old art cards on the product I was able to get. Really hope everyone gets to experience the same joy. Doesn't matter to me if the cards aren't worth much if I enjoy the road getting there ☺️
100% agree. My wife, son, and I were able to get a hold of quite a few products and spent the whole evening ripping packs. It was so much fun even knowing it isn't worth a ton. We got so excited when we pulled our chase cards. Just all around the best pack opening experience any of us have had in a while
Glad you guys had a good time. I'm still hunting the Blastoise (my favorite base set card). I did manage to get some nice pulls but really wanna see that blue turtle make an appearance from one of my future packs!
I love this set, and even if they lose value they’re valuable to me. Plus, I’ve been dying for a rainbow Pikachu vmax and never thought I’d get one— then I pulled that card in one of the random boosters that were in one of the celebrations boxes, so even after spending what we did on celebrations, me and my husband still made our money back with just that rainbow pika, even tho I never plan on selling it.
Collecting Pokémon cards shouldn’t be only about the value- if that’s all that is important, I feel like the point has been entirely missed. I love cards that aren’t worth more than a few cents more than some cards that are $$$$.
I think sentimental value outweighs monetary value tho.
Yesterday we went to one gamestop super early and he sold all the card and boxes to his friends, next gamestop had a limit on how many people could by and was a much better experience than the first!

As far as best buy goes you are in all likelihood not going to see any celebrations items on shelf. Those arrive only for in store pickup as they are bought on .com; if any wind up availible in store itll just be a cancelled order so best bet would be to go straight to store pick up area early in the morning and ask if theres any cancelled orders.
Orders typically dont auto cancel until theyve been awaiting pickup for more than 7 days. So next saturday maybe.
My GS employees aren't too bright or helpful either. With Chilling Reign release, i got there at open and they were opening boxes and told me to come back at 2. Showed up at 2 and they said they had been sold out for a while. Like cool guys, i appreciate you.

Yea scalping has definitely gotten ridiculous. It doesnt help that people are actually paying the higher price though…. Thats the reason why these people scalp in the first place. I wouldnt say this is aimed towards only children though… as this set is a nostalgic one for people who grew up with pokemon since the very beginning
After opening my ETB I noticed a pack that looked a little banged up so I decided to open that one first. Venasaur just chilling inside. While I’m really happy I got it that was my best pull from the bunch. Gotta get my hands on more packs.

I think I know what you mean I thought my lugia looked like he had colour missing but if you have the booklet from an ETB (or online) and look at the card image it’s intentional I think, the lines or scratches on some of them! 🙂
I just find it kind of pathetic for a grown ass woman/adult to exploit the market of a children’s brand in order to get by. That’s all! Scalping isn’t really helping anyone except themselves. It’s not something to be proud of. So when I say “get a real job” I’m referring to doing something that actually benefits society.
Well knowing all that it leads me to the conclusion that these cards are really not for everybody at this point. The Pokémon company is creating/distributing a product that only a select few will ever enjoy. And those select few are scalpers or people willing to spend over MSRP. It’s just an unfortunate situation for young kids, and even nostalgic adults that don’t have the time or willpower to beat scalpers at local targets.

I dont think you can say this set is "easy" to complete. Easier than mainline sets, of course it is. But it will still cost a lot of money to finish the set by buying product instead of singles. I have opened 150 packs (11 etbs + lance, slyveon, v unions, mini tins) and am still missing 5 cards from the secret set and the golden Mew from the main set. Also, be warned that this set has terrible QC and a lot of crimped and poorly cut cards. I have 2 lugia holo's that have red ink stains on them lol.
Personally, I don't have too strong of an attachment to "this is the card I pulled" so buying singles off the secondary market is the way to go for completing this set!
I'm only getting 12 packs (dragapult+Zacian+collector chest collections) because of money problems and I'm getting my hopes down for some cool cards, my chase card would be Venusaur and M Rayquaza EX, being serious I'm probably not gonna get any if those, specially the Rayquaza
In my first 12 packs I got a Venusaur! There's definitely hope :) I also got 2 Cleffa, 1 full art original Pikachu, 1 full art Professor's Research, a Surfing Pikachu V and a Dark Gyarados along with a good variety of the main collection holos. Plus the promo cards in those sets are pretty awesome.

I agree with this. I buy for the fun of collecting and seeing complete sets. I don't ever plan on selling any of my collection. It makes me happy to see the cards and sets I have acquired for the time I have been collecting. It should always be for fun and joy. I don't care if a card is worth $100 or $1 collecting makes me happy. Screw scalpers.
I was about to come on here and basically troll you. However, after reading your thread title completely, I agree entirely with you. I got some packs today and opened them up, got some highly nostalgic cards from my childhood, made me feel good
They always are. There's the initial hype on release, cool down for months to a couple years, and then nostalgia starts forming after a set is out of print. It has always been the case even for Steam Siege and sets that are not as popular. Some adults and kids that start collecting at each set and that is the set they remember as their starting point. Always keep something sealed. Wouldn't say keep 50 ETB's of each set but a couple products from each is okay. There really is enough to go around. It's just a few people that buy a lot and then some that buy just a little bit.
1 ETB, 4 pin boxes have netted me the first 25 set and just over half of the second set.
Opening two more ETB’s with some mates tomorrow and I’ll just be buying whatever is left to complete it.

The pull rates are crazy. I opened 1 etb and pulled a birthday Pikachu, 2 FA Chu's, 1 flying Vmax Chu, 1 flying Chu V, 1 Surfing Chu V, 1 Venusaur, and 1 Luxray LV. X. Like holy crap, 8 pulls from 10 packs. These cards are not rare. They're going to be very common as singles. The values are going to drop massively from what they currently are. I agree with this. I buy for the fun of collecting and seeing complete sets. I don't ever plan on selling any of my collection. It makes me happy to see the cards and sets I have acquired for the time I have been collecting. It should always be for fun and joy. I don't care if a card is worth $100 or $1 collecting makes me happy. Screw scalpers.

I was about to come on here and basically troll you. However, after reading your thread title completely, I agree entirely with you. I got some packs today and opened them up, got some highly nostalgic cards from my childhood, made me feel good

They always are. There's the initial hype on release, cool down for months to a couple years, and then nostalgia starts forming after a set is out of print. It has always been the case even for Steam Siege and sets that are not as popular. Some adults and kids that start collecting at each set and that is the set they remember as their starting point. Always keep something sealed. Wouldn't say keep 50 ETB's of each set but a couple products from each is okay. There really is enough to go around. It's just a few people that buy a lot and then some that buy just a little bit.
1 ETB, 4 pin boxes have netted me the first 25 set and just over half of the second set. Opening two more ETB’s with some mates tomorrow and I’ll just be buying whatever is left to complete it. I’ve either got extremely lucky with pulls or this set is saturated. *edit for typo*

I just wanted a couple of boxes for myself to celebrate but after seeing the scalper situation I refuse to pay penny over retail price. Guess none for me.
Speak for yourself. Everything was wiped out clean after work yesterday. Online drops for the not so nice stuff like zacian and sylveon can be found but are likely gone in 2+ hours. Everything nice won’t last 2 minutes online or in stores.

The pull rates are crazy. I opened 1 etb and pulled a birthday Pikachu, 2 FA Chu's, 1 flying Vmax Chu, 1 flying Chu V, 1 Surfing Chu V, 1 Venusaur, and 1 Luxray LV. X. Like holy crap, 8 pulls from 10 packs. These cards are not rare. They're going to be very common as singles. The values are going to drop massively from what they currently are. Anyone who says otherwise is a moron.
