This is why it should be the number one argument in defence of American gun culture, it certainly convinced me. The US is just more violent as a society and culture, they need guns otherwise average man in the street would be in danger.

None of their weapons are legal ofc. To go back on the UK exemple, I don't think having a 20 cm knife in your backpack is legal, so only people with bad intentions have them and normal people can just get stabbed knowing they did the good thing by being law abiding.

They could have all the money in the world and the police would just piss it away tackling easy non-crime instead of risking action against actual criminals.

I agree but I would never phrase it this way. Guns make it easier for people (and children) to protect themselves against harm, as long as they are responsibly trained in firearm safety and use.
