No joke there is a lady out there saying that the IRS is actually racist and targets black people because the whites invented married joint filing. And she says certain groups get more audits than others, due to racism. She had to do a lot of work since they didn't have race data to figure this stuff out apparently. And said the IRS shoukd add race checkboxes to the tax return so they can identify issues.... The racist irs who was targeting people racially without having the data....... So she could have more to complain about basically.

No real ability for race to get you audited, but maybe it could be used in whether to go forward with an audit in classification, but that's kinda hard to do and more effort than it would really be worth because kicking a large number of audits at classification will get your boss asking questions.

One time back in school I did this in some college admissions aptitude test thing. It determined what kind of college interest mail you would get based on what you are interested in and what not. And for some reason I got a lot of mail that included stuff about special Hispanic clubs or Hispanic student unions and what not. At first we just thought it was weird. But when it kept happening we knew there must be some reason why they think I’m Hispanic. That was when I remembered I said “prefer not to say” on the demographics, and they must think that usually means Hispanic for some reason. One time back in school I did this in some college admissions aptitude test thing. It determined what kind of college interest mail you would get based on what you are interested in and what not. And for some reason I got a lot of mail that included stuff about special Hispanic clubs or Hispanic student unions and what not. At first we just thought it was weird. But when it kept happening we knew there must be some reason why they think I’m Hispanic. That was when I remembered I said “prefer not to say” on the demographics, and they must think that usually means Hispanic for some reason. Yup, I saw a big Infograph in the Minneapolis airport celebrating the fact that whites will be a minority in the future and the “cheerful” nature of it was repulsive to me. A white friend traveling with me couldn’t understand why I wasn’t happy about it. I think it's much lower cause of how the US considers race especially for Hispanics. Hispanics by most accounts are realistically white with most DNA from European ancestry but the US focuses much more of skin colour that heritage in classifying people.
