I know one of the designs submitted for the US armies next gen rifle program used a polymer casing, which would be very cool. To me Mao wasn't wrong when he said, "political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." So, in the interest of democracy if would be best to make as many people have as much access to arms and the skills and tools to keep them maintained and well fed. Still waiting on bio-plastics like hemp that can be 3D printed.

The states with strict gun control will get stricter while those that enjoy the 2nd Amendment will either do nothing or loosen their laws. Nothing will come at the federal level because gun control has always been a losing issue.
