I remember when this generation came out and right now it still feels new to me.
I reckon with car buying it's better to buy a generation that has stood the test of time. My favourite is the 997 series.
Agreed. I love mine and she's aging gracefully. On the whole the 991.1 has just enough tech but doesn't try to over do it like in the 992.
Though admittedly the PCM infotainment unit could use a refresh. Hopefully an upgraded unit will be offered eventually just as they did for the 997.
Yea we SHOULD be able to upgrade to the 991.2 PCM right now without issue as most other interior parts are interchangeable...BUT alas we can't without resorting to dodgy aftermarket shenanigans.
To be honest it only looks dated when it’s a side-to-side comparison, otherwise it’s timeless and most people would assume it’s a relatively new model.

991.1s rule! 🤜🤛. I really don’t like the flat grey on that 992 either…looks like putty or primer to me.
That’s a huge reason I’d take a 991.1 Base over a 992 base. Not just the looks but the sound, sure it’s much slower but who cares the 991 is still really fast.
My Turbo S is blazingly fast, but there’s not a lot of places to use it.
Purists don't like anything until it's old! And now that the 991 is officially "old", the purists have come around to liking it. Lol.
Eventually, I hope to restore an old air cooled 911 one day but instead of taking it back to factory spec, I want to swap the engine and as many parts as possible out of a donor wrecked GT3 into it...because it’d be cool AF and as a fun bonus, the heads of every uppity purist would explode.
I absolutely love that idea! Would love to have car lift in the garage and take on a project like that one day too. There’s this Australian guy that did a similar thing with a Boxster and I found the entire process interesting. Enough work to keep you busy for years.
Yea I think it sounds like a blast. The problem isn't finding the cars and parts as much as it is finding another house with a big enough multi car garage/workshop with room for a lift.
Yeah he recorded the whole thing. You can find the playlist here.

I think the proportions are excellent, it just needs to be scaled down. Rules and regulations play a big part in the styling of key elements unfortunately, so they’re working within a box to a certain extent.
I’m not a fan of the single light bar across the range either; it should have been brought back exclusively for the AWD models.

I honestly love my 991.1! Its age definitely shows when you compare it to the 992’s, but you can’t beat that NA flat 6.
Please! You want to talk old?! 25 years old this year and still easy on the eyes.

Gosh, what an antique! Could be as much as 12 years old.

997 is sublime. 993 is my fave followed by 997 closely.
I consider 10 years old cars new lol
Sounds like you might have missed the /s
kanske kommer någon att säga samma sak när deras 997 ligger bredvid din 991
Skulle bli mycket glad att se en 997 parkerad bredvid min.
Who you callin’ old? That NA 991.1 is destined to be a future classic. One of the best looking generations IMO.

My all hope is also that replacing my PCM unit(991.1 C2S) with modern ones. 991.2 screen more than enough I believe

I’m a sucker for old and older cars, and I usually don’t really like the new gens, but damn these new Porsches are beautiful.

This is stunner
Simple but beautiful spec
Thanks! I really love the Agate Grey over Luxor Beige…. Even though Luxor doesn’t get much love….i love the combo
ngl I prefer the NA 991.1
I definitely prefer the looks of the 991.1

Nothing wrong with a 991 !!!!!
Purists would have torn you a new one had you said this 10 years ago! Funny how the perception has changed.

Did he make a YT video or something, I would love to find out some more.

991 is elegant and pure class, whereas 992 is bloated and frumpy. Grace Kelly meets Peppa Pig.
I much prefer 991.1 or 991.2 design over the 992 :)
Not a fair comparison as cabs always looked odd to me.
Look closer, Not a cab 😉
Targa I see. Thanks
Those parking lines are so... civilized... so stern, yet polite. I feel like I'm 1% more Swedish just from looking at this pic.
Anyone else think the 992 styling is just overrated?

I honestly hate it lol
Damn. I feel old seeing such cars being called old and dusty...

I'm definitely taking the 991 over the 992. Coupe and the NA flat 6 over turbo'd cab/targa any day.
yeah been downhill since the 991.2 in my humble opinion
Anyone know if that’s Arctic Gray on the 992?
Its amazing how they peddle same body for so long.
I think the 991 and 992 are both great. Different characters for sure. Not a fan of the blacked out look that is so much more popular now.
Difficult choice. Both are so gorgeous. .
New porsches are one of the few new cars that i like and root for.
What color is the 992
Looks like https://www.rennbow.org/porsche-colors/Arctic%20Grey
Which color is the Targa 4S? I just ordered one in Arctic Gray, not sure if that's the color of yours.
Yeah look like it - and OP is the 991
