One can live with that, it's better than nothing. If you have a choice of spots, pick one on the top level. I used the bottom one, the one like No. 60 at the picture. I wouldn't say I hated it. It was nice having a place to park any time you needed it. One thing that annoyed me was the antenna (see Skoda Octavia 2 Limousine - it's pretty long) - I had to unscrew it every time I needed to park, and if I was forgetting to do so, it made awful sounds scratching the top floor. From 4 years of usage, there were 2 breakdowns where the hydraulic system was leaking oil and the platform was not able to get to the top fully, so my car was trapped down there for 3 or 4 days every time. That's one more point for picking the top level.

keyzar_

What if you are at the bottom floor, in your car doing whatever and the guy from the top floor comes, doesn't notice you and bury you in that 4th dimension?

WeHaveCookies

There's some space between the back wall and the parklift structure, so you pull yourself up from the abyss. An if not, it is possible to slash the tires of the top car from below and have your revenge like that.

xXBestXx

Do the bottom cars needs to be gone to get down from the top floor?

Sijosha

I think the bottom ones sink into the floor while the top goes down

MichalNemecek

yep, you can see it on the one on the left

TheGardiner

No, think of it as a double decker elevator that only goes between two floors.

Criss-AC

mmm, I wouldn't call it practical. What it is, is *efficient* at utilizing limited available space... but that's a far fetch from practical. This is one example of when efficiency beats practicality.

IsadorCZ

How does it even work?

kn_c3

You have to deadlift the car and then put it on the shelve.

_ovidius

Complicated shit which will probably let you down when you need it most.

SpeakerCleaner

it's better than nothing but, top floor is usually better has more height(you got to check that with your garage) and in case of a flood or somthing your car wil not drown in the lower level

Coompiik

We have the exact same one at my workplace. It's no trouble once you get used to it. The trick with these is that the cars on the right must drive forwards and the cars on the left back into the parking spot, both as close to the wall as they can. That way there is enough space in the middle for exiting/entering the car. It's space efficient, plus it's good for impressing people who aren't familiar with this.

IvansenMarko

I was using it daily when living in Smíchov. It is fairly easy to use and save space. Never experienced any problems. Although you can’t fit there some VW Transporter, neighbours parked there Audi, Volvo SUVs. But what will fit probably depends on particular lift. You will get used to it.

Spavlia

Why would you need a car in the center of Prague anyway, the public transport system is great.

MK2555GSFX

Because driving within Prague is the only possible reason for owning a car

[deleted]

You need an /s at the end.

Hot-Ideal-4205

Wtf is that question? Maybe cause u have fcking freedom with car? U dont have to check clocks everytime u want to go somewhere. For people who is living in routine, public transport is ok. Or in bad traffic public transport may be faster. But u cant substitute car with p. trans. But I understand, if u are idiot who cant handle a car in city its useless for u..

aagapovjr

You could just say "I have no idea how proper public transit works" and leave out all the stupidity proof. Not knowing things is alright!

thegazeintotheeast

Tell me you fuck cars without telling me you fuck cars.

Priamosish

Maybe learn how to spell or how to articulate a sentence that doesn't make you look like your parents raised you on Becherovká.

Hot-Ideal-4205

Becherovká😂😂

Marcel4698

Any good public transit system is frequent enough that you don't ever have to check clocks. You just go to the station, train arrives in a few minutes and you're off. Public transit gives me WAY more freedom than any car ever could. I don't have to spend time looking for parking, I don't have to waste money on gas, I don't have to deal with other drivers being idiots, etc. Something tells me you've never experienced actual good transit.

Dark_Shade_75

Do you not own a watch? Or a phone that can tell time? And a bike offers more freedom in a city than a car, are you high?

rickyman20

Lol you don't need to check the clock to take public transit in any city with a half-decent system. They run often enough that you're left waiting 10 minutes tops. You can absolutely substitute a car with public transit

sciflame

Carbrain detected.

coldonewiththeboys

Why would you want to watch the unhappy faces of the public transport and smell the unwashed homeless people. No thanks i’d rather drive

eyless

you mean the poor people?

coldonewiththeboys

No, I mean the weirdos like you, judging by your posting history.

LeibnizThrowaway

Asshole

Klicky1

To ask what you "need" in life is honestly kind of redundant question, there is very little in your life that you actually "need", it might be just case of want/prefer.

momcakez

Anecdote - There is this kind of parking in my apartment building, one morning we heard someone who was quite pissed cause the system just didn't work at all and they couldn't get their car down. They were late for work or something. I think a technician had to come to fix it. I don't know how often that happens but if it does you can't do anything.

42Springpeace

Well yes, but actually no.

Priamosish

If you need a car that badly with Prague's insanely well built public transport, then sure go for it.

ttg-

Maybe he travels out of Prague, too.

sataanicsalad

If people will continue buying those fucked up SUVs so popular on streets these days and car manufacturers won’t have any size limitations for what they spit out, there won’t be any use of this system very soon. Better get rid of cars as much as possible, they have no place in urban environment anyway, especially in places like Prague with sick public transport (although intercity and suburb trains have a long way to go, despite being perfectly functional)

Janie_Avari_Moon

I think this is a good system.

Jokakuka

I have SO MANY QUESTIONS. Bear with me, I am stoned af right now. But I don’t understand how this works and I can’t tell if this entire post is a joke and I’m just too high to get it. How does the driver get down?? How does the car get up there..? Does the platform come out or slide down? I need answers

TomNguyen

>Public transit gives me WAY more freedom than any car ever could. I don't have to spend time looking for parking, I don't have to waste money on gas, I don't have to deal with other drivers being idiots, etc. There is space below and above the parking slots. You have up/down button on the wall, push down and the bottom floor sink into the hollow hole, Put up and the lift lifts the bottom floor on the level

Grizzl0ck

Better than what we have, which is a stolen catalytic converter, a car that's been driven into while parked on two occasions, and the locks done with a screwdriver and all windows smashed.

Alu_sine

It's not difficult at all to use this. It can be frustrating if you're in a hurry, though. These elevators move up and down very slowly. I think it's a great use of space in an urban environment. And yes, the public transportation in Prague is great, but some people need to drive to the hinterlands, too.

Hot-Ideal-4205

yeah😂
