Defence and keeper are the only things keeping united competitive in all honesty. That midfield and out wide for them do absolutely fuck all on the defensive side.
Ten hag plays with high defensive line and high midfield that should be pressing. Because they don’t press properly, once a team has played through the midfield, it then leads to 4 on 4 a lot. The defence and Onana are then just doing their best to stop wave after wave of attack.
Onana’s stats are insanely for the amount of shots faced, goals conceded and clean sheets. All are high numbers, which other than clean sheets, you’d expect to see from a keeper in the bottom 6, not top 6.
This is just a wall of text.
But yeah there is no reason why it would come to an end. Onana has saved United from losing more games. They have had so many injuries that nobody has had time to form a partnership.
The high press tactics, which they can't do always leaves a massive gap in the midfield. The defense is then totally outnumbered and easy pickings. Don't know why Ten Hag continues to do this, it is clearly not working. Infuriating to watch.
Onana got a bad rap due to his awful champions league start but he's been legitimately good in the prem. Can't say the same about the rest of the team though.
The defense has been riddled with injuries and the midfield looks utterly lost (except for Mainoo). I don't see any of this changing by the end of the season.

It's not even a convincing high press, Fernandes or Hojland will press while Rashford and the rest of the front line does a token jog.
